It's not a festivals, so this is actually first tour dates!!! I'm completely confused when in this case we could expect album release, perhaps August? With announce early in June before first festival? The suspense is killing me.

No shit, Sherlock! New Coldplay album inspired by graffiti Chris thought about those things at least 6 month ago.

If the album would be finished before summer gigs, what the reason to hold it until Autumn? I suspect album would be released earlier, probably in summer. Still don't understand what the point in hiding release date. :shrug:

It sounds better than most of Viva album.

Visually everything from LP5 looks appealing, and more interesting than VLV. I think stylistically it would be closer to X&Y. Perfik! As to smaller scale gigs - the band is big, they simply can't afford small club tour. 10000+ seats venues couldn't create intimacy because it's too big. People from back rows wouldn't see nothing w/o screens and huge scene. In the end it's extremely encouraging news. It seems they close to the end and just polished existed material.

Great news. But I doubt we won't heard at least ONE new song. Also it means album would be released after festival in Rio, so it must be late October, November release. But I wouldn't be surprised with December release. :angry:

Well after A&R interview I could also confirm that album would be released in Autumn. And if not, well, you know, plans has changed again. :rolleyes:

I agree it looks weird. The only logical explanation they confirmed festivals and then delayed album release. They can't cancel Glastonbury, so this festivals would be like a little warm up with couple of singles.

Jeez. We only heard acoustic version of Wedding Bells in crappy quality and people already said it's mediocre. Shame on you. I for one love Wedding Bells. It has great melody, nerve and emotional impact. It's actually closer to the first 3 albums and I like this fact very much. It could be awesome song in studio version with more instruments and sound.

Me too. Also it has more with this strange festivals gigs. I don't like it because I can't see a point. But Chris likes weird new things, every time they want surprise us. The Baudot code for X&Y, than Delacroix painting and ridiculous suits. LP5 will have features for sure.

I believe more in Chris and other guys rather this two. Eno isn't a man, who delayed album again and again.

Well, who said it was criticized more than other? http://www.metacritic.com/person/coldplay X&Y got the same score from critics alongside Parachutes and Viva. It sold more copies than Viva. Also thats because of piracy and down trend in CD sales rather quality, but still. IMO X&Y the most easy listening Coldplay album. Speed of Sound, Talk, Square One, Hardest Part, Low, all has fantastic melodies and sound. It's not a monolith like AROBTH, but it's for sure has more from band than Viva. X&Y has a nerve, energy, emotions. Something Viva with all impressive sound mixing lacks. And frankly I would prefer LP5 without Eno input.

Back then they postponed release of AROBTH in the last minute for a couple of month. I guess they couldn't cancel Glastonbury because that's too big event for beginners. That's why they was forced to play something new prior to release and started a tour. With LP5 it's another story. There are simply no point in 10 gigs w/o album. Especially if it could come late in November.

I have no problem with delaying, but I have problem with all this festivals gigs. What the point to do it? Festivals suggest album should be out before, now it could be postponed until late autumn. So there is no point in doing festivals. The late date for LP5 also suggest new tour would begin in 2012. Winter tour not the great thing either.

They could perform songs from LP5 b-side. It seems they have plenty of songs now. One or two could appear in LP5. They also could release first single during festivals. The one thing I don't get what the point in 10 festivals with tight schedule? Perhaps it's one of this strange marketing strategies? Or they postponed release once again, but festivals has already been confirmed?

You know why it happened with AROBTH? They actually postponed release for 2 month because they still working on it. Therefore I doubt they are planning to do the same with LP5. It must be released before festivals!

What did you mean? He never said anything specific. Besides I don't think everybody could be high, for example, 6 month prior to release. It doesn't make sense. If they have schedule, and works according to it, they know exactly what are they doing. I hope LP5 should be done very soon!

I agree. Christmas Lights, for example, was finished product way before NY. Marcus is tuning songs. So they has songs, nearly finished. In the end R42 said everybody are high, and that could mean they are close to the beginning of new campaign and eagerly awaiting it. And actually MTM could be the title. It would create continuity with single word title for odd numbered albums.

It seems they are polishing songs (12 according to NME) and more or less on the finish line. But how more and less, we are clueless. :)

Well, I think we are going to listen new album THIS year, sooner or later. The same goes for a new tour. So no big worries at all. But it seems girls there tends to be a bit pessimistic about LP5, perhaps that's worrying me more. We should be optimistic! :cool: Also I can't see any troubles with U2 release. First of all I don't get it, because they have final leg of 360 tour (I attended gig in Moscow last year - absolutely fantastic), so thats could mean new album wouldn't be that big if they doesn't even make a tour to support it. It's weird actually.

It looks like LP5 could be released earlier, actually, May 5, or even late April. If we wouldn't hear anything about release date or album title before March, then I'm going to start worry a bit. :)
