Us Against The World vs Shiver

After listening to the album a couple of times I have to say this is a big step up from MOTS, and maybe up there with EL (which I think it's their best since MX). My main complaint, if I should mention one, is that I would have left out We Pray and add "Shine On" in its place. Not because I think We Pray is bad, I do enjoy it, but I just don't find it fitting for this record. Anyway, hopefully they'll release that song in the future. Jupiter is a good song but didn't stand out as much to me. I did like the choir and the acoustic driven production. Not a big fan of Good Feelings at the moment, but I admit it's still a fun tune and works better that My Universe. Might grow on me. Moon Music, iAAM, Aeterna, All My Love, One World are the highlights of the album for me. Classic Coldplay sound all over, except for Aeterna of course, but that's still such a good song. They finally nailed the electro-pop genre (or whatever you may call it). AH/AR sounds really good but it's not really an actual song rather than a very long interlude which teases, as Chris mentioned, what's to come in the future. There are certain tiny elements (other than the three main sections) which I think could be bits of other future songs, like some lyrics, a brief passage of dramatic violins and other bits of melodies. It's very layered and I'm sure we will find more and more stuff hidden in it with every listen. I must say I really like the idea of doing some kind of foreshadowing, it adds depth to the concept of the three MOTS volumes. I give this record a solid 8/10.

Maybe they'll play it as a medley, a la The Beatles' Abbey Road, grouped under the rainbow symbol?

Okay, so I'm really enjoying this song so far. I don't think I will ever consider it as one of my favourite Coldplay songs tbh, but... considering what we've been getting these last few years (apart from Coloratura and EL album and a couple other exceptions), I think it's a really good direction the band is taking. I think it's their way to say "hey we're back, we're more chilled now, let's not force this", so I really hope Moon Music will feel like that as a whole. Of course it will have it's cheesy pop moments, it's Coldplay after all, but as long as it doesn't feel forced and aimed at a very specific group of fans or shamelessly trying to gain followers from other genres with pointless collabs, I'm good with that. So, in conclusion, I feel very positive from what we've been hearing so far. Let's hope it keeps going that way!

That track sounds experimental enough, and if Jonny's guitar is clear in the studio mix then I'm sure it will still manage to sound like them (not like garbage XMTS which sounds like Chris just messing around with a sample pad in his room in the middle of the night). I'm ok with them trying new things as long as it doesn't sound forced. This one, from what we've heard so far, reminds me of Viva era. For now, we can just pray it doesn't disappoint.

100%. They've created amazing songs when experimenting while maintaining their essence, and the whole VLV era is a great example of that. From what I'm hearing by playing all the MM snippets side by side is that it'll have more variety and more character than MOTS. Or at least I hope so. It's still too early to tell, and I don't like getting my hopes up too much, but I feel like this album, while still having the expected pop elements, will be more mature. We'll see!

I agree with this. Is that Little Simz I hear? I don't listen to that kind of music really, but I do think this one could be really interesting (and I consider myself an oldplayer lol). I don't mind them exploring different genres if it's well put together and doesn't feel forced. I remember Kasabian collabed with Little Simz for a song on their 48:13 album a few years back and it's actually decent. I think I'd rather listen to some dark vibes hip-hop from them than more and more of the same overly poppy tunes (which are fine and fun to listen to from time to time but I think they already did too many of them).

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. Why not put the entire galaxy/nebula (or whatever it's supposed to be) on the artwork? It seems like it could be some kind of bridge for what's coming next, maybe?

Just listened to the leak. Overall I think it's quite catchy, there are some nice guitars (they are actually pretty noticeable in the mix, at least on the first part of the song), and the drums sound much better than most of the pop songs they've released. In my opinion, this is one of their best collaborations, it's not cringeworthy as PoC, HFTW or SJLT (hate that song). With all of this being said, I still don't think they need to do this kind of stuff. I wouldn't mind if they released this song as a separate single or something like that, it's not a bad song, but Coldplay is a great band capable of doing amazing things on their own. This is just my opinion though.
