:smug: Well, I had been a casual fan for 15 years. Then after I saw them live, finally, for the first time back in 2001, I've been an obsessed fan ever since. I have just about every book on them, and have read them all...except for U2 by U2...I finally found a hand held version of the book instead of trying to read the coffee table version...I gave up on that a long time ago. But I'll be up to speed this summer when I have more time. Other than that, I have Facebook to thank to keep me up to speed as to where the guys are and what they're up to if anything. Plus too I have a huge U2 family of friends to keep me up to speed as well. Speaking of a U2 Encyclopedia...you might want to pick this up...but keep in mind it hasn't been updated since 2003... Oh I totally agree with you about Sometimes...it's a real tearjerker, especially live. It was huge. And hearing Bono getting all choked up while he was singing it, made it even harder to hold the tears back. You just wanted to jump up on stage and give the guy a huge hug. And someone earlier said that Yahweh wasn't good...have you seen U23D? Yahweh was a perfect ending. It's very beautiful. Here it is in San Diego at the first show of the Vertigo Tour with 40...and I was there!...and then later that night I was just three feet from Bono in the parking lot at 1:30AM...awesome night! But...during the Vertigo tour, Blinding Lights did become the new Streets. It was the perfect opening song...and confetti to boot!...mind you that was before Coldplay (those U2 copiers!) :P That's why I love Coldplay...they look up to U2 and take what works and make it better..."Every artist is a cannibal/Every poet is a thief."

Nope...no news yet. The only thing I do know is that Bono is not in the studio. He and his wife were last seen in Hollywood promoting their clothing line, Edun. And my favorite song off of the now 25 year old JT album is Streets. It has stood the test of time, and is timeless. It's also their most powerful piece...as seen here...of course MLK is a good opener to Streets, but so is Amazing Grace... ...goosebumps and tears y'all...goosebumps and tears... The answer is yes. And speaking of Magnificent...I think this is the new Streets...that and City of Blinding Lights. And earlier someone mentioned that they didn't like I'll Go Crazy...have you heard the live dance remix? It's so much better. And it was a lot of fun experiencing it live. Here's a clip... As far as U22 is concerned, it's suppose to only go out to resubscribed or new members of U2.com. There's always a possibility you might find it on eBay. But if a U2.com member is caught selling their copy on eBay or elsewhere, they will automatically be banned from U2.com. So good luck...member only copies are hard to come by and that's the reason. U22 hasn't been given to members yet that I know of. I resubbed on February 15 and I still don't have it yet. It might take another month or so. Live Nation is real slow about putting out new member stuff. And my vote for the best B-side/remix album is Artificial Horizon. Again, that's another one of those member only deals and might be hard to find or might be very expensive.

This Friday is U2's 10th anniversary of playing at the Super Bowl halftime show... BEST HALFTIME SHOW EVER!!! This performance is untouchable... *sniff* [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zqtkik7nTik&feature=share]U2 at XXXVI Superbowl 2002 (Full halftime show) - YouTube[/ame]

I know! And I like Northstar too! You know U2 has to make everything perfect before they release anything...which I hate...that's why it takes so long. Here's what I think is going to happen... Since they know they'll be playing in arenas for the next tour, they are going to have to strip down their music and their sound again...very similar to ATYCLB. They need another "Beautiful Day" to help make them popular again...basically give fans and non-fans a shot in the arm. It's all a good view. I like watching them all in order...you know...seeing them grow musically.

This is the direction I think they're heading...but it's anybody's guess...they keep changing producers... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llHlZ9FT7VU&feature=relmfu]U2 - I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight (U2 360°) - YouTube[/ame]

Ah yes! I like Fast Cars too! Anything you can shake your butt to is good :D And since I'm such a huge U2 fan, I own every album on vinyl except for one...Best Of '80-'90...very rare and very expensive. I have some 12" singles as well. I completed the R&H set, but I'm missing one off of the JT set. And I have a few others like Lemon...it's cool because it's transparent yellow. As far as NLOTH is concerned, the album is better to listen to while in your recliner at home cranked up on your home sound system. Interesting, there is a DVD that goes with the album if you bought the box set. Basically through this DVD you listen to the whole album in the background while you watch this motor bike dude drive through Europe...it's kind of interesting and the scenery is nice. It was U2 being more experimental than trying to play for the masses. The last thing I heard from the band was that they wanted to produce a dance type album since the Crazy Remix was such a huge hit during the tour. But who knows. We'll never know until Bono leaks the new music to the fans on the beach out behind his mansion near Nice, France.

And here's something to watch and listen too...U2 never released Glastonbury, but Xiren covered it and made it sound like U2's...Xiren does many covers like U2 and Coldplay, as well as he writes his own music...(don't forget to check out Dejavoodoo and Grace!)...SHOOT!...just check out everything he does...he's awesome!!! Don't even get me started! U2 lost to Train that night...freakin' Train! It was because at the time they were so much more "popular" with the general listening public, but U2 got it back the following year...and that's all that matters. Remember that HTDAAB was made after Bono's father died...lots of things bottled up inside exploded. A lot was going down personally for Bono...he and his Dad didn't speak much because all along his Dad thought he was wasting his time being a rock star. It took years to approve what he was doing...but I don't think he ever approved of it 100%. There were always agruments between he and his Dad too. And now for another award where Bono used the "F" word...LMAO!!!...also, they're so cute when they dress up... :wink3: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEIWI15F6aA]Golden Globes 2003 U2 Wins Best Original Song - YouTube[/ame]

The fooking dude...he just never smiles...and it's very rare that he does...only when getting on or off the stage (before or after a show). And he got to use that talent in a movie... You're welcome! Streets gets to me everytime...no matter where I am...but hearing in cranked up live in a stadium...well you can't beat that. I think on the U2 360 DVD Bono does Amazing Grace followed by Streets...that by far is one of the best change overs...talk about goose bumps!!!...and tears rolling down my face... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebHOVTCUDso]REAL U2 Amazing Grace/Where The Streets Have No Name 360° Tour At The Rose Bowl - YouTube[/ame] And here's a different approach to Lemon...the remix is much better... It looks like this was just uploaded three days ago...the June 17, 2011, Anaheim show...the whole show! I was at this one too. Actually I was at both nights that weekend, 17th and 18th...totally awesome! Not only did this guy record the show in HD, but if you listen carefully, he snagged the audio from the earpiece. I've heard of people doing this, but this is the first time I've actually heard recording from the earpiece...it's quite good actually...

*raises hand* My first U2 live show was totally mind blowing. It was almost like being reborn. God was definitely in the house that night. Going to a U2 show is just like going to church...but better. You learn about things like love and compassion and giving back. I would have never cared about the people in Africa if Bono had never explained it. You don't have to give a lot...just a little bit of your time and/or money. Did you know it only costs $1,000 to build a water well in Africa? Just by doing that, a few people can save a village. And because of Bono, not only do I send money to Africa, but to here at home. I never used to give money, just drop off used clothes. But now I give money to both the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Yes Bono can bore people with his teachings during shows, but it works. One man can make a difference, and Bono is here to remind us of that. Here's a series of videos of how Bono, one man, can make a difference...there are 6 parts... I am so sorry for your loss. My Mom passed away in July 2002 after she said she wanted to go see U2 with me when they came back. The Vertigo tour was kind of tough because I wished she was there, but I had a feeling she was there spiritually. But I did get my Dad to go to a show during the Vertigo tour. After the show I asked him, "So what did you think?" He said after a very long pause looking for the words, "I can't describe it...there are no words...that was the best show I had ever seen. Now I understand why you like them so much and why you see them over and over again."

Ah yes...the best Super Bowl half-time performance ever! Hands down! Even my non-U2 friends agree. Take that performance in New Orleans times 100 and you have the last leg of the Elevation tour. They had that very same sheet during their last leg. Funny, I kept going on and on about U2's show that I saw back that November to my in-laws, and they thought I was just going overboard. Well, that night during the Super Bowl performance my mother-in-law watched it with me. She started balling. She figured out right then I wasn't going on about nothing and making stuff up. She was like, "I had no idea...that's so great they did that." I was like, "You see!" Sometimes it's hard being a U2 fan. People always ask me why I go on and on about them. Then I say, I can't explain it to you. You just have to see them live. U2 is an experience. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVBLNxKVjb8]U2 - Superbowl Half-Time Show 2002 - HD - YouTube[/ame]

Speaking of Stay and the Elevation Tour...after watching the Boston DVD for the first time I fell in love with this acoustic version and thought it was way better than the recorded version...U2 is so much better live... To me, the Elevation Tour will be the best tour of all, and 360 (last leg) is a very close second. Not only was the Elevation tour where I first saw the guys in person, but I have die hard friends that tell me that Elevation was their best...especially after 9/11. It's too bad there's no good recordings of that last leg, but there are some over on Youtube...very, very emotional. My first U2 show was on November 25, 2001. It was so spiritually uplifting and something that us Americans needed so bad. U2 hit the spot at the right time. On that note, I highly recommend getting Boston Elevation...even though it was recorded before 9/11, you can feel Bono's pain since at that time his father was literally on his death bed. He passed away two months later. Also U2 Go Home is very emotional because it was filmed just 2 days after his father passed away, and Bono refused to cancel the show. It's kind of hard to watch.

Joshua Tree is my all time favorite. Where The Streets Have No Name is the best U2 song...especially live since everytime it brings me to tears. Also on the top of my list are Beautiful Day, Magnificent, and Even Better Than the Real Thing. I've seen U2 ten times, Coldplay twice, and Muse twice thanks to U2...Muse opened for U2 back in 2009. Since Muse and Coldplay will be around for a while, I highly recommend that you have U2 on the top of your must see list. They've claimed their next tour will be in arenas...which is good because that's when they do their best and the set list changes every night. Also too, they're getting older and each tour is a possible "last" tour. Whatever you do...run, drive, fly...to see U2 next tour. You'll never know when it could be their last. Let's just say that 2010 was very scary after Bono hurt his back and we thought it was over. He came back, but he wasn't 100%. He was really pushing it. Let's hope he's getting the rest he needs now. Here's my new favorite U2 tune...I was at this show on the outside rail...and I got to hear it live a few more times...it was freakin' awesome!
