Meh I didn't coin that term. A fan is a fan to me. I understand what people are saying where they miss the old era of Coldplay. But artists need to grow. Yeah the songs are "pop'ish", "mainstream", etc and I even agree that I miss the old sound. But at the end of the day a band we all enjoy is going to be praised by the masses. Ultimately isn't that what we wanted for them? Just look at the journey they've been on from "Yellow" to "Paradise" it's been quite crazy but they are headed in a great direction!

So I am curious. Does this mean the "older fans" want Coldplay to stay out of the main stream and be that band in the early 2000's that people would make fun of (btw my personal opinion is making fun of them was a joke anyways because they were genius back then)? P.S. please dont take this as an attack on older fans or newer fans. A fan is a fan. You guys are putting too much pressure on yourselves and not looking at the bigger picture.

Lol I was going to write something similiar to this. Good points here. The truth is that they are growing to that level that every fan that loved them from the beginning should be hoping they would get to. That is exactly where they are headed. If they have to throw out a couple catchy songs like this then so be it. They are a class act and deserve what is coming to them which is greatness. p.s. please NEVER compare them to backstreet boys

I can already see everyone saying "Oh no they used too much melotron on the backing vocals" ,"That chord was over used", and my favorite "It sounds like a U2, Aracade Fire, or Elbow song" Lol

Yet another member that has X&Y paraphernalia through out his Coldplaying profile. I am just intrigued that you all have such low opinions of the album yet found something worth while to hold on to. Maybe it wasnt such a bad album after all.

The lyrics were more straight forward....but saying they are weak is a stretch. I feel the only reason even the band stated bad thoughts about the album is because of the public perception. I guess this is where we can say opinions are opinions. Me as a musician and fan loved X&Y and feel this album is just going to show the direction they are headed in. VLV was genius and so far from what I have heard MX is gearing up to be great. But i digress...different strokes for different folks.

Ok for the sake of arguement lets say I am wrong. I've heard a lot of people say the album was bad....but I have yet to hear anyone say WHY it was bad. SO please explain...

lol What was so bad about it? Was it the epic songs? The fact that they were experimenting with the traditional Coldplay sound? THe fact that they were growing as a band? It's funny how your screenname here contains a piece of the X&Y album "Twisted" Not saying it stems from that but the thought intrigues me.

Let's see....since the album has been named all i see is constant barrage of "Can't wait for this album" threads and posts. Now apparently the album might be too long? Come on give me a break. This album is going to be great just like ALL there albums (yes even X&Y, still dont know why people demoralize that album). I for one can not wait for it and I say the longer the better (and that is what SHE said) :)

Fuckin brilliant!

I find it funny when people say "It sounds like radio head." or "it sounds like U2." I've been listening to this song all day and have come to the conclusion that it sounds exactly like Coldplay. This is how they should sound right now. So many things that point back to the days of old Coldplay and including new and more exciting sounds that are just Coldplay.

There is gonna come a time where no matter how many songs they play at a concert, they will always miss out on a few that we would love to hear. Yes is one of my top 3 fav songs on the album and I so wanted to hear it live. But alas they have to do wat they have to do.

The album is brilliant...each song flows with the other so well.....the playing live is impeccable...his vocals are spot on.....and Coldplay are fucking amazing!

Yah they all sound awesome....so in that sense yah they do sound the same...good job u figured it all out on your own!
