coldplay vs radiohead
Thanks for your statements, I did read them and it definately helped. Overall, it's just weird I guess, almost hostile, the way many people/magazines mention the comparison is all. There are plenty of other bands, but they tend to pick on Coldplay - even before they became really big.

That will be amazing if they do that! Chris gettting sick and you get to go to the Wembley show instead! I would think they would include airfare since, like Diane said, they would have included it initially if you didn't already live in Florida... However, I did notice it said TWO DAYS hotel. Didn't the original say ONE day, then they upped it to two days because you already lived in Florida?! I can't imagine they would fly you to London though and only give you one day hotel since it's so far. I don't know, it's hard to tell! *fingers crossed* I wish I was going though, I just don't have any more holiday time left or I'd be doing it and visiting the family in a heartbeat! Oh well, maybe the re-scheduled Tampa date then

coldplay vs radiohead
Hey, thanks for the replies. Yeah, I figured this has probably been discussed before, but it just kind of made me wonder when I was listening to Radiohead today. To me they sound more like some of Smashing Pumpkins or Nirvana than Coldplay, since they are more moody. I think they are kind of their own though, but now you mention it, High and Dry does kind of sound Coldplay-ish and I get the vocal comparison a bit now :) Oh well. I just thought it was weird they are STILL compared to them, even though their sound today doesn't sound like Radiohead really at all I don't think...

Welcome to Coldplay Boot Camp
Assignment #12 I'd take the money, ha. I agree if you were in poverty, you probably wouldn't be listening to music anyway, so I'd rather get out of it in that predicament. It would be crap not being able to listen to them anymore, but you have to do what you have to do!

coldplay vs radiohead
Why is Coldplay constantly compared to Radiohead?! I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I just don't get it! I mean I like Radiohead, but other than some early Coldplay stuff, I don't get the comparison overall, especially since it continues today. It can't be the voices, since Thom Yorke sounds nothing like Chris. Their music isn't really that similar since Radiohead are a little more kooky and whiney in their musical arrangements and vocals, while Coldplay are usually more melodic and straightforward other than a few experimental tracks over the years. In addition, Radiohead's lyrics tend to be all over the place, while Coldplay tend to concentrate on love, modern life, the future, etc. The early Coldplay stuff (which appears to be the only stuff I would even remotely compare to Radiohead) appears to have built upon Radioheads 'sound' and made it their own and more mainstream. I hate reading these reviews that say Coldplay are a Radiohead 'rip-off'. If that was the case, they would sound the same wouldn't they? And even if they did borrow some, they obviously tweaked the sound enough to make it more mainstream since Coldplay are much more mainstream than Radiohead. Basically, don't all bands sound like some other band at some point?

Well, if they re-schedule it to later this year or early next year, I may go myself. Who knows when they might tour again. At least the postponement means some of us might be able to join you all :) It wasn't sold out right?

How many Coldplay sogns do you have on you mp3/ipod?
Right now, 138 and 3 vids (LiTii, VLV (Anton Version), Strawberry Swing)

Welcome to Coldplay Boot Camp
Plus you don't HAVE to answer all of them. Just don't post 'I don't know' or 'it's a tie', lol. If you can't answer one of them, then don't post it (well, until you can) - that's in the rules! Anyone can add Assignments about anything at anytime - also in the rules! All assignments are updated on the first page... Assignment #11 This one's very tough, since obviously you don't want any of them to die! But for the sake of this assignment, I would have to say Guy since he is not married and doesn't have as many children as the others...

Coldplay's B-Sides...
I think it's at least equal to Reign of Love, but it's also very weird, which is why I personally like it! :D Reign of Love is pretty, but not that interesting. A Spell A Rebel Yell is interesting, but not that pretty  Not my favourite b-side though...

Best City to go to a Coldplay Concert in?
Let's hope the curse of the X&Y DVD does not happen with the VLV DVD :dozey: If it does, then I will be forced to rethink Canada's luck :P

Coldplay 7" Singles Boxset
I was super lucky and got this a year or so ago for only $58 (including shipping!) from Amazon! Only 'The Hardest Part' has a little damage to the top of the sleeve, otherwise it's in excellent condition. Now I just need a record player again  Oh, well I have them all on CD anyway, it was more to just have it :)

"Goldrush" Review in 'Rolling Stone'!
I think they just didn't realise it was a different member singing each verse and then later in the song they must have been like 'mmm Will sounds like Chris Martin'

"Goldrush" Review in 'Rolling Stone'!
It's Taylor Swift...

"Goldrush" Review in 'Rolling Stone'!
LOL, I know, that's why I didn't discover it until today :lol::dozey:

Welcome to Coldplay Boot Camp
 Assignment #10 I guess I'd have to pick Will since he's my favourite member and he could teach me to play drums. Although overall it might be a bit awkward :uhoh:

"Goldrush" Review in 'Rolling Stone'!
It's the one with Taylor Swift on the cover! I think they meant it's LIKE a gospel choir how it kind of soars...

"Goldrush" Review in 'Rolling Stone'!
Ok, so I'm behind on my reading, but I noticed in the March 09 issue of 'Rolling Stone' they had a review of "The Goldrush"!! I was kind of :stunned: Anyway, here it is: There was also a pic from the Grammy's :D

Assignment #9 Well, I like to drink, but I'm kind of a light-weight - literally, so they'd probably all out drink me!

Mmm, I was thinking, are they going to attend the VMA's in September? If so, maybe that's when they would re-schedule it since they will be here already... However, I don't know how all the equipment stuff works, so you'd think they would HAVE to do before the European dates or cancel it since the stage set, etc. is huge!!

Best City to go to a Coldplay Concert in?
I'd say any major city since the crowd is usually better or possibly sold out. Not always, but it helps :)

Oh no!! I am surprised though they haven't canceled more given how many dates they have done. I think given the scope of this tour, it's pretty amazing they have only cancelled and re-scheduled two dates so far (or is it more?). I feel sorry for Dianne!!!! The news must of come out as she was at the airport or on the plane, so she won't know till she gets there! :uhoh: So sorry to all who had travel plans, I know it can be costly :(
