I HATE the video.

Ivet's Review 1. "Green eyes, I'd run away with you/Green eyes, 'cuz I'm a fool." The voice of the guy is a bit weird to me, but it's tolerable. The music helps. "But so what? Who gives a fuck?" Sorry if it seems I'm paying attention to lyrical content so much, but that's what I got out of this track (as well as some of the others, actually). "Why my own friends hate me, but I don't give a shit." This song has a bit of a...grunge feel? I don't think that's the right way to put it, but I can't think of a better term. Interesting opener. It's OK, I suppose. 2. It's "Drops in the River" by Fleet Foxes. I approve. :heart: There's not much more to say about this one. 3. It starts with some low sounds. (I think double bass is part of it, but I can't be too sure.) It comes in with this guitar thing, and it has effects that remind me of Nirvana's music or something. Fortunately, this isn't Nirvana, as the vocalist isn't Kurt Cobain, or even a man. This is a really interesting track, with the contrast in sounds between the instruments and the vocalist's style. The guitar ditty in the middle is pretty catchy. The vocalist sounds somewhat familiar, but I don't think it's someone I listen to regularly. 4. This is "You Are the Blood" by Sufjan Stevens. Great compilation, great song. Enough said. 5. "GA GA GA" Lady Gaga, maybe? I'm not sure, as I don't really listen to her unless I'm forced to do so. "I want your whiskey mouth all over my blonde south./Red wine, cheap perfume, and a filthy mouth." Oh dear. D: That's not what I expected to hear right off the bat. Actually, with these lyrics, I'm changing my mind. I think this might be more along the lines of Ke$ha or something. Please tell me if I'm wrong. Lyrically, this is a bit too bluntly raunchy for my tastes. 6. ARGH. Joanna Newsom. I can't stand her. I never could. I've tried. Really, I have. Her voice just grates me to no end. I have respect for her as a harpist (which seems hard to play), but her singing...I just can't. Sorry. 7. This is "Holocene" by Bon Iver. From what I've read, this is a favorite from the new album, and I cna understand why. It's so pretty. :heart: 8. It starts off with bells and some other cutesy little things. That's what I think of this song, really. It's just really happy-sounding and charming. I like this one quite a bit. 9. This is an instrumental of sorts. It has drumset and guitars. It reminded me of Broken Social Scene, but when I went to see if it was them, I realized it wasn't, so I'm kinda interested to see who this is. I thought this was a great follow-up to the previous track. 10. MMMMM. "Gospel" by The National. Once again, you have my approval. BERNINGERRRRR. :heart: 11. OK, so this was the track that kinda glitched on me. I ended up finding out this was "Look at Miss Ohio" by Gillian Welch. The only thing I knew about her beforehand was her collaboration with Conor Oberst on his song "Lua" from the "Dark Was the Night" compilation. (Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of Bright Eyes. His voice is not for me.) Anyway, while this song has a bit of a country feel to it, it's not to the point where I feel it is country. That's good, because I hate country. It's interesting. It's a grower, really. I like more with each listen. 12. "Money, money, money, money." Actually, I'm pretty sure this is Lady Gaga. This definitely sounds like her, and the music fits what I expect. 'I'll dance, dance, dance with my hands, hands, hands above my head, head, head like Jesus said." If I have to give her credit for anything, it's the string stuff in there, because I appreciate that. Too bad that scream before the 2nd verse pretty much turned me off. I guess the song's OK. I'm not overwhelmingly in love with it, but I'm tolerating it OK. I'd definitely listen to this above Joanna Newsom, no doubt. 13. After the beginning "na na na naaahs," it goes into this lovely walking bass line. The vocals (there's a man and a woman, maybe more people) fit well with the style of this song. Parts of this give me some sort of surf rock vibe or something. "Hold on, I'm coming, coming back to the pool." Is that right? That's what it sounded like. Anyway, if it is surf rock, it's not enough so to make me dislike it. Surf rock has the tendency to bore me, for some reason. 14. This is a piano track with a woman singing. At least, I think it's a woman. That would be great. She has a lovely low range for a woman. As a person with a low voice, I'm often really self-conscious about that, and hearing other women with lower voices makes me feel better about it. Anyway, while the song is really sad (particularly the lyrics), I really like this song a lot. 15. This was a little instrumental with piano and string instruments. This is pretty much the perfect way to close a tape. I love this so much. :heart: To give you an overall assessment of your tape, while there were a few tracks that obviously weren't to my taste, there was a good chunk of stuff that I liked about it. I can't wait to see the track listing from you. Nice tape. :smiley:

Lore's Review 1. It begins with an electronic track. It starts off very calm, and it returns to that at some point, but after the beginning section, it goes into this rhythmic groove that just grabs me and makes me imagine this would make a good dance track in a club or something. (Not that I'd know about that, given I don't go to clubs, but anyway...) While I felt there were a few times when I felt it dragged on (mainly when the female vocals came in after the 4-minute mark and repeatedly sang "a cryyyyyyy", which got annoying), I liked it a lot more than I expected to. It's catchy. 2. This was a shorter track. It sounded like some weird world music thing to me. The woman's voice irritated me. I didn't care too much for this one. 3. This basically reminded me of a '70s track. It's not, but it has that sort of flavor. Or is it? I don't know. It was really interesting, and I liked it. 4. This was a short little ambient track. I thought it was very peaceful. The person talking kinda gave it something else. I don't know, it felt right. 5. This track was really kinda spacey to me. Like, as I was listening to this, I could imagine myself floating or something. The vocalist reminded me a lot of Beck, but I don't think it's him. Anyway, I really liked this track. 6. This is "Fireworks" by Animal Collective. I have a special connection with this song. It's the first Animal Collective song I heard. I heard it on a mixtape one of my uni friends made me, and he mentioned to me that this is his favorite song ever because it reminds him of how he'd listen to this song walking on campus freshman year and embracing his newfound independence. It's kinda cool, really. 7. The only complaint I could even think to place on this song is that it was incredibly short. I wanted to hear more than 2 minutes worth of music. This track is so adorable. "It's not a house anymore." :wacky: 8. "1, 2, 3, 4. 1, 2, ready, go." This ended up being some song about a ship or something. It contrasts from the previous track in style. Track 7 was a cute upbeat tune, and this is slow and melancholic. I can't help but think the voice sounds familiar. Anyway, I like this, although not as much as the track before it. 9. This is "Last Night at the Jetty" by Panda Bear. In some ways, I like Panda Bear more than Animal Collective. I'm not sure why. Anyway, I've been listening to a bit of Panda Bear in recent days ("Tomboy" in particular), so good for you. I know this tape wasn't made for me, and I know you thought I wouldn't like it, but I do. I really do. There were things I didn't like about it, sure (mainly Track 2), but it's a solid tape, and I think your original recipient would approve of it. Good job, and I can't wait to see the track listing. :smiley:

I'm going to be blunt. You are wrong. Dead wrong. You know that quote in your sig, Carrie? It applies here. So much. It seems you are the one taking things personally, as you are claiming that people are insulting you when they are merely pointing out the discrepancies in what you have said and why the points you are making are invalid. I don't see how proving with textual evidence that your thoughts about Lore are misguided can be interpreted as a direct insult towards you. Anyway, as I mentioned, I read that entired thread. Lore only said it "looks like Muse lyrics." I don't see how you can take that and say she said that Coldplay copied Muse. She never used the word "copy" once in that entire thread. I actually agree with her; they do look like lyrics Muse would write. Do I view that as a bad thing? Not necessarily. I disagree. As there are different styles for different eras, and as the boys are clearly taking a different direction for LP5, I think calling the LP5 era stuff "new Coldplay" is perfectly acceptable. Points again for you, m'lady.

That makes sense. I'm still sorry you had to take them all simultaneously, and I still wouldn't be able to take more than one math course at a time.
