OKAY
the tape is split into 4 parts, Leadership is Based on Inspiration, Not Domination, On Cooperation and Not Intimidation. that's pretty cool is this a quote or something? im not gonna google it that'll just ruin the fun
Leadership is Based On Inspiration
1. A nice instrumental piano piece. The actual keyboard sounds are real cheesy and 80s and it sounds kinda poorly recorded but I like the piece itself!
2. this is a tiny piece of Angels Of Harlem by U2...I used to love this song and it took me a good 5 minutes to figure out which song it was. haha.
3. Holiday - Vampire Weekend. happy music!!! this might sound weird but i haven't listened to any happy music in a few days so thank you
4. some song by Sting, can't remember the name exactly. I'm not exactly a fan (mostly because my mum is obssessed with him) but I really like his songwriting. Nice melodies.
5. some song by The White Stripes. not a fan sorry!
6. Rock song. Reminds me of Snow Patrol or something like that. I find this kind of thing really dull. Interested to hear who it is though.
7. I like this. Percussive beat with piano stabs and a nice female vocalist. Some great strings in the second verse too. A rapper comes in (or I guess more of an MC) "It aint black or white it's about the beat". I really love these kind of songs hahaha, positive vibes! my favourite so far.
8. Cool synth intro. I recognise the vocalist. Guitar sounds very Coldplay-ish. It has a good driving rhythm. The chorus kind of feels weak against the verses imo. Interested to hear who this is.
Then there's a really nice piano/strings outro which might be from the last song but I'm not sure.
oh okay no it's carrying on into the second part
Not Domination
1. very pretty piano and strings piece!!
2. I Will - Radiohead. The transition into this song was really nice, I'm starting to think my mixtape maker is a musician? the transitions are smooth and seem to be in the same key. This has never been my favourite Radiohead song but I love how close and personal it sounds. Kind of imitating in a way.
3. yeah this transition was too good! this is See You Soon - Coldplay. I hardly ever listen to earlier Coldplay anymore but this song is sooo beautiful.
4. Rock song with distorted guitar intro. Singer has a pretty thick accent. Reminds me of Arctic Monkeys and all of those bands. Not a fan, sorry.
5. U2 - City Of Blinding Lights. This was one of my favourite U2 songs when I was into them. I always preferred the live version from that Vertigo DVD though
6. Chris Martin singing, but I don't think I've ever heard this song before. Is it a recent demo or something? it's really nice
7. Amazing Grace on a solo trumpet ---- goes into next part
On Cooperation
1. Instrumental version of Amazing Grace. sounds like it's from a movie.
2. strange ambient intro, turns into a pretty standard rock song. This guy's voice is irritating me. Not my kind of thing!
3. Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word - Elton John. is the song that he did a weird version of with that boyband Blue? I loved that when I was little. Elton John was the first concert I went to actually.
4. Pop-rock song. sounds like it's from the 90s. I grew up with a lot of this kind of music but I'm not a fan. There's a really pretty breakdown part after one of the choruses that I really liked though.
5. is this Keane? okay yeah it is. I used to really love this song too. damn. we might as weeeellllllll
6. Upbeat song with what sounds like an older male vocalist. Is this Elbow, maybe? didn't like this one.
7. Really nice ambient piece with what sounds like a bowed guitar. really pretty.
Not Imidation
1. This sounds like R.E.M? I like some of their stuff but this is pretty boring for me
2. slow rock ballad. the guy's voice is pretty interesting but this is p much my least favourite type of music. the outro was quite nice though.
3. Rock song. Is this pop punk? it sounds like a not very good version of Paramore. that was probably pretty ignorant of me to say but that's how i feel
4. slow intro to a more powerful rock song. not a faaan
5. weird 90s sounding electronic/rock ballad. I think I forgot music like this exists.
6. ah back to more instrumental orchestral stuff. This one is really cool. I recognise the 'chorus' part. Interested to know who made all of these instrumental tracks.
and that's it!!
thank you v much partner for putting so much effort into this tape. Honestly I liked more of it than I thought I would on my first listen. The instrumental orchetral tracks were my favourite, as well as track 7 on the first part.
I have absolutely no idea who my partner is but it sounds like they tried to showcase some of their favourite music to me. I respect that! I didn't like a lot of it but I'm pretty picky so I wouldn't worry...haha. really interested to see the tracklist.
