[##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL
I just checked British Airways and the cheapest flight is just under $1,200 for San Francisco / London RT. Included in this are taxes and fees of $380! Winning the Babelgum contest was a very valuable, not just for the expense savings, but for the unforgettable concert experience that you will have. Coldplay's last Viva show of the tour. It will be packed with emotion. You're living the dream!

I did not know a passport costs $150! What a rip off. I have never had one but wanted to get one in case I ever want to travel, especially with Coldplay's touring abroad.

Favorite from Angie's Blog: Chris' charm and charisma From Angie's blog on the Wisconsin show: "When Chris came out for the encore, he had a clipboard (he's such a drama king) and proceeded to tell everyone that the survey results were in and Alpine was the best audience on their whole tour. The crowd went even more insane." I have never seen anyone more charming and endearing than Chris Martin. He has a genius for this.

The show at Wembley will be unforgettable. Coldplay's returning London to do their last Viva La Vida show at home. The energy will be awesome, and Jaz-Zee is the supporting act. There is no comparison to Tampa. You're extremely lucky to have this opportunity.

I was wondering if Gwenyth would show up at any of the concerts. I forgot to look for her in the box seats in Wheatland -- they were in the section right behind us.

p.s. Angie, I loved your blog on the Texas concerts. I felt as if I were there. I remember your saying you were waiting in your car, polluting the Dallas air to have air conditioning. I'd like to catch up on it if you've written more. It's weird that I feel incredibly depressed about the whole experience of yesterday's show being canceled in Tampa even though I wasn't directly affected. I feel for my fellow Colplayers. I don't recall feeling this despondent in a long, long, time.

Glad to hear you're home, safe and sound, Angie. I love your observation (in bold italics above)! I can relate to that feeling completely, having given up offers of free anytime/anywhere tix like that because I just wanted to frigging get where I was going! Angie, you definitley rock! Take care of yourself now that you're home and can get some rest!

Live Nation isn't showing the Tampa concert at all now. I haven't checked, but I think tickets could probably be bought pretty cheaply in the resale market but I'm worried about buying tix there. If the show is canceled, the refunds would go to the original ticket holders. I'm waiting to find out about the reschedule date along with everyone else because I definitely want to go! We'd make out like bandits if they reschedule during the winter when Florida is a haven for the winter-weary. It would also give enough time to get the best priced airfare. So far, they have said "postponement" not "cancelation" so there is every reason to expect a new date.- [##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL
Apropos Chris Martin Quote "Life is miraculous, even when it's disastrous, it's still incredible, I'm fascinated with everything, life is fascinating, I'm fascinated by trees and dogs, but no one wants to hear me talk about it."- [##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL

I'm amazed that they let you in. You ladies must have really turned on the charm! Did you happen to notice what the "orchestra" section seats look like at the back of the floor? Are they elevated from front to back? I would probably go for those seats if they are still available when they announce the new date, assuming it will not be this coming week.- [##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL
Absolutely! I didn't want to get all religious, but I think we should all send Chris the power of our loving thoughts for his speedy recovery. That's kind of George Noory'ish, and it does work! And to answer your question, as of now, the show will be rescheduled since they announced a postponement, not a cancelation. I'll start looking for tix right away because there's a good chance it will be in fall or winter. But, there is a chance it could be this Thursday. They didn't just make that up about Chris' being a superhero. He really is a kind of superhuman, you know.- [##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL
I noticed in your signature: Tampa 08/09/09 IN THE PIT!!! Postponed!! "I'll always be waiting for you!" Aw, that's sweet Kaleigh!- [##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL

I did not know this: Coldplay tickets going for a song in US as band fails to sell out August 4, 2009 Tickets for the last leg of its US tour are going for a song after Chris Martin and the band have failed to sell out – or anywhere near that. Some tickets are going for 60p. Coldplay is facing a chill wind in the midst of the world recession. Coldplay is winding up 39 dates of shows in the US that kicked off in May. The tickets have a face value of between £20 and £60 but punters are spruiking them at the less-than-a-pound rate, according to StubHub, the ticketing arm of e-Bay. StubHub also reports Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney and U2 are facing the same problem. http://www.metrolyrics.com/2009-coldplay-tickets-going-for-a-song-in-us-as-band-fails-to-sell-out-news.html- [##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL
Just a bit of my own experience. My co-workers and I snuck [or "sneaked," if you're English] out of work early for both shows. On those days, and in the next week, I won a $3 million issue for my client through creatively working out a settlement. The natural high energy I felt as a result of the concerts magically carried me through the next two weeks. In matters of the heart, you need not worry about the "system." Your love and upliftment for Coldplay will take care of everything, at least it did for me.- [##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL
I love hearing about people who are as crazy about Coldplay as I am!!! Does everyone know that the video for The Hardest Part was from a 1990 show "Attitudes Across America" and that Coldplay was blue-screened into it? That is why no one recognizes Coldplay's presence or even responds to their performance, instead, they are all responding to the 80+ year old woman and her 20-something y.o. dance partner. Through clever editing, they make it look as if Coldplay is there. Even before I knew how it was made, I had always noticed a very distant feeling about Colplay in the video that bothered me, although it is a great Coldplay performance of that song.- [##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL
There's one advantage to postponement. If they reschedule for the Fall/Winter, I'll be on LiveNation buying tix! That would be awesome!- [##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL
When I was buying tix for the concerts I attended 7/13 and 7/14, I was looking at how many of the shows were only one or two days apart, and thinking, "How could they possibly be at their best with such a hurried schedule?" Yet ironically, in the second show I saw on 7/14, Chris Martin actually seemed fresher, perkier, and his voice was unbelievably stronger than the very day before. So, there's no telling how the schedule affects Chris' performance. I think that the cumulative effect of many weeks led to the illness that caused them to postpone the Tampa show. Thus far, that is the official word, that it will be postponed, not canceled, so Coldplay will definitely make good on their word, even though it may be a month or more. This will still be the last U.S. show for the Viva tour, so it will be all the more special anticipating their return.- [##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL
That's my guess, too. Coldplay will most likely be out touring Central and South America in the next year. They could just swing up to Tampa from Mexico. What a treat it would be to have Coldplay return. It will likely be more than a month. On the other hand, they might pull it together for Thursday if Chris can manage it, then, they'd get it out of the way and satisfy everyone. I doubt that they would cancel the show entirely, since they are too fan-sensitive to do that. I know that they have at least two equipment sets, as they did back to back shows in the bay area and could not have possibly moved the whole set in one day. One of the sets has a huge digital computer screen that the other one doesn't. It's like the screen that Coldpaly used for the background digital clock in "Square One," the opening song for the X&Y tour, but it has vivid color.- [##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL

Roadie42's blog entry I am interested to see if they cancel the show; they only have a week from tomorrow to begin touring in Europe. It probably takes a week to move all the sets back there. If they don't go for Thursday, my guess it that they will cancel. I believe Coldplay is exhausted. From Roadie 42's blog, the complete text of which can be found at http://www.coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=463: Roadie #42 - Blog #95 August 6, 2009 6:12 pm #42 and the creeping exhaustion ... Chris remarks from the B-stage at the Comcast Center the following night that you can always tell when it's time for a Coldplay tour to be over, because his haircut has reached a stage where he really shouldn't be seen in public any more. Now, I'm not going to comment on the boss's haircut, but I will take his quote as a link into the fact that, for me at least, it really is starting to feel like time for a break. The shows, as I say, are unstoppably potent and the audiences remarkable. The time away from the gig though, is time when your body and mind begin to remind you that it's maybe time you were doing something else for a while. Something like sleeping in, like spending time with loved ones (that's if they let you back in the house). We're at the tail end of a very long and very intense touring cycle. It's been the most enjoyable tour of my life, don't get me wrong, but exhaustion is exhaustion. To be honest, I've no idea how the band do it. Myself, I'm all thousand yard stares and a disconnected lack of anything to say. They, on the other hand, are still buoyant and cheery and delivering a knockout punch every night. Still, we leave Massachusetts heading into two very precious days off in a row. I'm planning on one hell of a lot of sleeping. I realise too, that I'm one of the lucky ones. I've been swanning about in the band party, arriving after all the hard work is done. The crew have shown themselves to be built of truly the sternest stuff - pulling the miracle that is the show out of the bag day after day after day - a feat for which there is no magic wand, only a hell of a lot of effort. My hat, if I wore one, would be well and truly off to each and every one of them. I'm sure that 48 hours of recuperation will give me the energy to make it to the end of the leg. Doubtless the change of scenery and production that the European stadiums will provide, along with the thrill that those shows will no doubt be, shall bring renewed enthusiasm. So too will the sight of the finish line. Surely there will be much celebration at all that's been achieved when the last show is finally in the trucks and waved away. Some days the road is more uphill than others, I guess. Anyway, bedtime. Do not disturb..... - [##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL
