o yes , of course , u2 has been here for a longer ammount , but take this in count , back in the day (80's 90's ) it was usual for artist to sell 20 million , 30 million or even 40 million , artists such as madonna mariah carey , whitney houston , and bands from all over the world if they had a great cd could sell that ammount . After 2000 cd's sales started to decline due to digital downloads and other ways of piracy like internet and those things , and now a days , if an albums sells 10 million , you are the best . So first of all if you want to compare coldplay sales with u2 sales , do not compare them in diferent times , becouse if they would have released the joshua tree on 08 it would have sold 8 millions top :lol: and that's the way it is , music sales are on crisis. Having said that , coldplay has sold an amazing 55 million copies in an era which only few artists with the short ammount of records that they have , had . so , if you want , lets compare how many albums have u2 sold in the 00's and how many coldplay has :D and ofcourse they go more to u2's concerts , damn they have been in the buissnes for over 25 years :S still , whith 12 albums and 56 singles 8 live albums , and lots of compilations , they managed to sell 140 million records

lol , actually the fact that luis miguel has released 22 albums , 8 complitation and over 60 singles and selling 75 million copies , i think that if coldplay released 4 albums and 20 singles and selling over 50 million , tell me which one is better ;) lol , it does not , madonna has 0 creativity , their producers and writers has lol , and she still can outsell almost everyone , and her music has decline in a way that is huge and still is selling arenas , becouse of her "older" material but her new music is crap and forgettable , not as her classics "like a prayer" "vouge" or take it to u2 "one" "whit or whitout you"

LOL , dont get me started , creativity ? well , first of all , u2 had great albums and was very creative etc etc , but you can say that thing now lol , their last creative album was pop , after their commercially unsuccessful foray into electronica with Zooropa and Pop, they released all that You cant leave behind, one of their "popest" may i say ? albums , they played it sooo safe , as they did with how to dismantle an atomic bob , so shut up lol . The fact why is u2 still selling arenas is becouse of their older music , newone is forgetable and not comparable to their previous works , madonna is still filling arenas , but her music now a days cant be compared to back in the day , so does u2

lol , the 9 million people that bought viva la vida tells me that its more than the 3 that bought u2 latest cd . and the 7 million copies that viva la vida single moved , tells me that is more than de 1 million copies worldwide that get on your boots got . or the 3 million sales of violet hill tell me they sold more than magnificent which sold 0.6 but i dont know if over there they teach you maths right , you will see :D

lol , I am certenely not denying the influence that U2 has had over other bands ( including Coldplay).Albums such as The Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby were extremely important and influnencial. With that said , U2 has experienced a decline over the last decade presenting material not as good as their past one and with forgetable albums (not beeing very creative and playing it safe with HTDAAB and All that you cant leave behind to forget the commercially unsuccessful pop album ) and songs that has been represented in sales figures , like No line on the horizon beeing almost a flop and , admiteed by bono himself http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/oct/26/u2-bono-disappointed-album-sales :lol: . Taking all this in account and not forgeting the legacy that u2 has left to us , today biggest band is Coldplay , u2 once was , but they are not anymore in my opinion , of course you will say that coldplay has not had the same influence that them and all that shit but the truth is that in a few years we will see the results of their influence ( in fact i think that we are all ready seeing it with artists such as keane the killers etc.) but you can not compare the 25 + years of u2 to the bearly 10 of coldplay , we will have to wait . And of course :D for all that i said before i think that Coldplay's today biggest band , U2's time as the biggest band came to an end when coldplay came to the scene with parachutes :lol: with x&y and viva beeing the best selling albums of their years respectively with only 6 months of beeing on the charts :D thing that u2 would only dream off now ( didnt say back in the day , i know their sales were huge before ) another reason to belive that coldplay is the biggest band in terms of sales right now. Say what you want :lol: this is coldplay's time , u2 were the biggest band up until 2000 :lol: Bono should retire by now , his back hurts , his leg hurts , he should start his own brand of sunglasess :lol: , maybe he would be the biggest sunglasses disinger in the world now :uhoh:
