The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Loving that Uprising vid lol. theyve done that a few times in the past - notably on live and kicking! I never knew Matt Bellamy wrote the piano part in politik? and that Muse and Coldplay were such great mates!
-
Who is the better Singer?
Thom Yorke - Pure, soft and beautiful - Sometimes a bit whiny however. Matt Bellamy - Powerful, HUGE range, never out of tune, knocks you flat on your face. Chris Martin - Very hot and cold, not that great at the best of times.
-
Who is the better Guitarist?
Its a tough one between Greenwood and Bellamy - very different styles. They are both hands down over Buckland though. I'd lean toward Greenwood
-
Who is the better Keyboardist?
I would say Matt hands down. Chris is good, Thom is OK. but Matt is light years ahead of any other keyboardist in rock. You just have to listen to songs like Sunburn, Exogenesis, Ruled By Secrecy, Butterflies and hurricanes to see what he's capable of. Some of his work is amazingly beautiful. Chris has some effective piano parts, but I find them too simple at times and I get bored bit by some!

Who is the better Drummer?
Breaking it down to an individual level yo.
-
Who is the better Bassist?
Out of these three: Guy Berryman (Coldplay) Colin Greenwood (Radiohead) Chris Wolstenholme (Muse)
-
Who is the better Drummer?
Out of these three: Phil Selway (Radiohead) Dominic Howard (Muse) Will Champion
-
Who is the better Keyboardist?
Out of these three: Matt Bellamy Chris Martin Thom Yorke
-
Who is the better Guitarist?
Out of these three: Jonny Greenwood Matt Bellamy Jonny Buckland EDIT: I got ahead of myself in the poll thinking I was doing the drumming poll and put Will Champion instead of Jonny Buckland. Not sure how to fix it on the poll...

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
At first i thought 4th, ahead of showbiz only. But after listening a few times. I would say number 2, only slightly behind absolution. Needs to be listened to in full to appreciate it.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Their most consistent album so far. As far as style goes, It is a new direction again for Muse, Probably a cross between Absolution and Origin of Symmetry with it's classical influences and depth. It needs to be listened to in full to be appreciated. The tracks on their own don't stand out as exceptional, and need to be listened to in the context of the album but as a whole, it is an amazing album. Theme: The idea that love gives us hope and pulls us through times of hardship. Matt's vocals are the best they've ever been. Exogenesis is like nothing a rock band has ever done. Amazing, moving. I highly recommend it as one of the albums of the year so far.

I think Exogenesis will be the best thing EVER written by a rock band. The rest is pretty average sounding though

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
I find it funny that we are on a Coldplay forum criticizing other bands for cheesy lyrics. lol. As much as I enjoy coldplay, I think Chris has the cheesiest, over-simple and sometimes downright nonsensical lyrics. In saying that, I like the straight-forwardness of the lyrics, and the only part of the song I find cheesy is the UNITED STAAAAAAATES part. Apart from that, I think it is a brilliant blend of influences. And they have come out in this week's NME saying that the musical side of this album isn't entirely serious, and that they even laugh at United States of Eurasia. lol

Hottest 100 of All Time
Funnily enough, they have never had a number 1 album here, their last 5 have reached #2. OK Computer was voted Australia's Third Favourite album ever in an ABC poll about a year ago, behind Dark Side of the Moon and something else. So yes, they are pretty big here despite not having a number 1, but not as big as elsewhere. I think in the Australia network on facebook they were about 5th or 6th most popular a while back, behind The Killers, Foo Fighters, Powderfinger and Muse.

Most Talented Band Today.
I enjoy seeing all the different opinions and what people see as talent. Radiohead, Muse and Coldplay I can relate to emotionally, while bands like the chilli peppers and Arctic Monkeys are great in that you can really get in an upbeat mood listening to them!

Most Talented Band Today.
Lol. Arctic Monkeys are hardly more musically talented than radiohead IMO. I had to toss up between radiohead and muse, but in the end went for muse, purely because Matt Bellamy is a gun. He is one of the best guitarists the world has seen, an incredible pianist and can sing as well. Not to mention their live shows. See V Festival Knights of Cydonia or Dead Star. It was a hard choice when you think of the complexity of Radiohead's music and the skills that are needed to write some of their works but yes. Red hot chilli peppers would have probably been my third choice. Coldplay just don't cut it for me, their music while enjoyable, is far too simple and Chris martin's voice does not stack up against the likes of bellamy or yorke. Their live shows do however, and their songwriting perhaps not quite. I am waiting to be shot...

Hottest 100 of All Time
The hottest 100 is a poll conducted by Australian radio station triple j. (Roughly the equivalent to radio 1 in the UK). It generally gets about 700,000+ votes and is the largest music poll in the world. Every year, the top 100 songs from that year are voted for. Every 10 years, the top 100 of all time are voted for!

Greatest rock song ever?

Most Talented Band Today.
forgot kings of leon on the list. lol. don't think they will get too many votes anyway compared to the likes of coldplay/radiohead/muse/U2

Most Talented Band Today.
Ok Here are a few of the bigger bands around today. Who has the best musical ability? I am going to leave this to be fairly broad but the way I interpret ability is a mix of these things: "Instrumental Skills" - The ability to play their instruments exceptionally well. "Songriting Skills" - The ability to write great music. By great, i mean complex, interesting music that is still easy to listen to. A mixture of these constitutes great writing IMO. "Lyrics" - The lyrics must be good and meaningful, in the context of the style of music. "Live Performance" - The live ability of the band - how good are their live shows. "Singing Ability" - The ability and talent of the singer -their voice can make or break a band. If you have any other criteria you vote on, jot them down! I am keen to see what people think

Hottest 100 of All Time
I'm tipping these to come in the top 10 Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana (Hate this mind you) Paranoid Android - Radiohead Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen Knights of Cydonia - Muse Killing in the Name - Rage Against The Machine. Over Half a million people have voted in this and the annual hottest 100 is the world's largest music poll. by a long way!
