  1. I am really interested in learning some music like they used to play in saloons. I've heard it was ragtime and then player piano, but regardless I really want to learn some. I know Scott Joplin is really good, but the stuff I'm looking for is like the part in Army by Ben Folds where he starts jamming. All of this aside, does anyone know anything like Scott Joplin type music that is somewhat challenging, remember I'm no prodigy. Thanks!
  2. definitely Brick by Ben Folds, and The Scientist and Amsterdam are always good choices
  3. I am wanting to learn some classical pieces, but ones that people either recognize or will like. What are some pieces all of you play in the classical category and you like and others do to? Thanks
  4. so did you read what I was asking? sorry about the size.
  5. Alright just look at the picture. When do I play the 3rd line of notes, the very bottom ones, do I only play if I am singing, otherwise do I just play the regular bars?
  6. I am a novice to the piano, but I'm pretty good. I know the music that has just what the right and left hand play, the two bars or measures or whatever they are called. I just got the 'Amsterdam' sheet music and it has like 3 bars, I don't know what the 3rd bar is there for and when to play it and if I should only play the 2nd and 1st and then the 3rd sometimes. Could someone please explain this to me.
  7. This is me when I was doing a job because I was broke. Don't judge!! Just kidding, forget how I found that.
  8. Knew you'd like it
  9. My bad, I thought you were saying you didn't like the old album:) Yeah, listen to all the songs on his new cd, they are all good. I never like a cd until I've listened to it atleast a few times through, so give it a chance.
  10. I don't get it. Is it b/c his album is Heavier Things?
  11. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but how can you not like his old album? Every song on it is good, I guess its very acoustic, other than that I don't see how anyone could have a problem with it.
  12. yeah his old cd was very acoustic, this one is much more produced, but not overproduced.
  13. 100% agreed. They seriously all are good songs, just like his last cd. Clarity, Come Back to Bed, and Split Screen Sadness are all incredible, defintely check it out when you get some cash.
  14. They're a group of guys from Ohio State, and I've seen them like 3 times in concert and they're really good. They are really energetic in most of their songs, and I'd say they have a unique sound, but I like that. They have a couple of CD's out, but they just came out with one that they actually went to a studio and recorded, 'In Between Now and Then'. All their songs are good, but the main ones are, 'Crazy Game of Poker', 'Hey Girl', 'Black Rock'. My personal favorites are 'James', 'Whose Chariot', 'Road Outside Columbus', and my absolute favorite 'Anyway'.
  15. John is the man, I just saw him in St.Louis a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing. He not only has really good songs, but they're complicated as hell. My friend is really good at guitar and he can't even begin to play "Neon" b/c it's too hard, with the really weird chords and tapping on the guitar all at the same time. John's new cd is going to be out soon and I'll be sure to pick it up.
  16. Hey I'm new here and I got the Guitar Pro and everything set up and I was able to look at a few songs. I downloaded a gp3 version of trouble and it seemed sort of messed up, so I tried to dl http://www.mysongbook.com/tab-tab_download-id_tablature=29028.htm that version and it said I need to upgrade my Guitar Pro software, can someone help me?
