The Coldplaying Chorus Project
Naah don't worry, I'm going to make it a nice little blend of all our voices. Besides, I woke up today with the worst cough and sore throat ever, so my reference track is going to sound croaky and messed up as shit; so once everybody listens to how crappy my voice is, they'll know they can easily do much better ;)

The Coldplaying Chorus Project
Alright! The final lyrics have been chosen! There's a last minute surprise in the lyrics selection. There happens to be space to add another couplet in, so I'm choosing the top two liked lyrics!! So congrats @diogo_sg for getting 7 likes, and @gerben for getting 6 likes!! Both the couplets are awesome! For everybody else who contributed as well, thanks a BUNCH for writing in such amazing lyrics and showing so much enthusiasm! I thought this would be a small project, but with everybody helping out and contributing so much, it honestly means a lot to me :) So here are the final lyrics that are going to be added to the chorus: Hope we get to see Coldplay playing soon When that day arrives, we'll be over the moon Up and up, up and up Singing from our hearts, making sorrows drown; When your favourite band, comes and plays your town; Up and up, up and up.

The Coldplaying Chorus Project
Alright guys, you have 3 hours more to send in lyrics (and promote your lyrics to get likes), after which the most liked post with lyrics will get chosen! Great going everybody! I'm really very grateful for everyone's participation and interest so far! But the main work is yet to begin, so start your vocal warm ups and gargling techniques! Tomorrow I'll be posting the reference track for all of you to start recording. Remember, the link to the reference track and certain rules and guidelines will be posted in the first post of this thread, so always keep an eye on that!

The Coldplaying Chorus Project
Yup, we could try this next time! Mainly because I've already completed recording all the instruments for this project :P
-
The Coldplaying Chorus Project
Yup, that's right!
-
The Coldplaying Chorus Project
Yup, the plan is to select the lyrics by tomorrow, then I'll record myself over the track I made as a reference for you guys, and send it in, so that you guys have a couple of days to record and send the files, then I'll work on your files and mix them with the instrumentation and hopefully get this ready a day or two before the 31st *fingers crossed*

The Coldplaying Chorus Project
This is great stuff! :) keep it up coldplayers! If we get enough lyrics, we can completely replace all the lyrics from the original and do our own cover for a later project.. :D

The Coldplaying Chorus Project
Hahaha, no I wasn't joking! So do you like the idea of writing our own lyrics? It's just two lines, so it shouldn't be too tough, and it'll be fun!
-
The Coldplaying Chorus Project
Okay, so let's say that the lyrics with the most number of likes on that post will be selected? (You guys can take back your likes on my post in that case, until you see a few more and decide..!)

The Coldplaying Chorus Project
Agreed! I was thinking the same thing actually! Look at my post above for proof :P

"Standing in the field, we're waiting for the day, When we finally get the chance to watch Coldplay, Up and up, up and up!" Sorry, couldn't resist. :P

The Coldplaying Chorus Project
Great! I'm glad to see that you're going to give it a try! :) Yup, it's a slightly different version, I'm composing a new arrangement for it, with a mashup in mind. Which brings me to the next piece of information I wanted to share with everyone: So I got into a great workflow late yesterday night, and I've already pretty much finished the structure of the track with instrumentation. So seeing that we have a little more time now (I didn't expect it to just flow out so quickly!), as promised, let's fit a small (very tiny though) verse into it! Either we can use a couple of lines from the verses from Up&Up itself, or as you suggested, we could write something ourselves. My only issue with writing something ourselves is that it'll take some time to suggest those lyrics and compare them with others and then pick something, so do we take that risk? Remember that I can only send a reference track once we have all the lyrics ready, so that I can sing it out as a reference and send it to you guys. There is only space in the verse for this much: fixing up a car to drive in it again searching for the water hoping for the rain up and up, up and up After which, it goes to the chorus, which is repeated 4 times (each time getting bigger). So do we write our own lyrics or do we use a couple of lines from the song itself?

The Coldplaying Chorus Project
Yup, I'll be uploading a file of me singing (better get your ENT doctor's phone numbers on speed dial) along with basic instrumentation. The version we're doing need not be in the same scale and exact tempo as the original, so please DO NOT refer to the original song and sing. I'm saying that it might not be in the same scale and tempo because I'm trying a little mash-up that would sound interesting. Yup, of course! I'm all for organic sound! :D

The Coldplaying Chorus Project
Yup, I was thinking of chorus 3, where it is repeated twice. But @Rickulus, you can absolutely send 3 or 4 choruses. That's not too much of a problem, and more voices do make the chorus thicker which is good. It looks like up and up is going to be the winner of the poll so I've already begun the instrumentation for it (there's a small mashup surprise in there ;) ). I'll be posting a reference track either tonight or tomorrow along which all of you can sing. Please keep checking the first post of the thread for updates!

Thanks for joining in! It doesn't have to be studio mic quality; you can record your voice with your phone, as long as there are no disturbances and preferably in a small place, so that there isn't too much reverb. I really wanted to do that at the beginning actually, but I think we don't have enough time to pull that off; seeing that we have less than 12 days to record, produce, mix and master perhaps 20+ singers and instrumentation, I wanted to do something that'll be short and sweet. Also, the longer we make it, I think there's a lesser chance that Coldplay HQ will listen to it, as they must be incredibly busy leading up to the tour. But I absolutely love the idea of making our own verse and pairing it up with the up & up chorus. If I do finish the chorus part well before time, I promise we'll give the verse a shot too; if not, I would love to continue working on it after we've posted only the chorus to Coldplay HQ as well!

Hahahahahahaha! Alright alright! No pressure! Excellent! :) Thanks for bringing up the idea of harmonies btw, I had completely forgotten about that until you mentioned it back there.
