[2017-08-17] Soldier Field, Chicago, IL
I've got tickets to this show, and I'm really hoping the weather is better this time around. Went to the Saturday show back in July that got rain-shortened (like many others). Can't wait to see the full show! I was mostly bummed we missed out on Up&Up due to the storm. Last go-around I had tickets in the 300 level in the opposite endzone. This time, I have tickets in the 300 level at about midfield, so they should be better. Couldn't afford the floor tickets, but Coldplay shows are fun no matter where your seats are. I only wish I didn't have to wait so long for the show!

Sky Full of Stars on Saturday was probably the most fun I've had at a concert. Thanks for linking in those videos!

In case anyone's interested, here's some of the media I got last night. I was there last night. I was bummed the openers were cut, but so happy Coldplay got almost a full set in. I was convinced that they would get 5 songs in and have to stop because the radar did not look very nice around 8:00 last night. brobbins is right on about the feeling in the stadium for the show. Everyone sort of just took the weather situation for what it was and made the best of it. The place was electric when the band came on stage to start the show. I don't think I've ever experienced anything quite like last night. It was definitely one for the memory books.

The NFL (American Football) thread
It was good to see Forte get some good runs in yesterday. I thought he was going to have a better game than he did, but it was decent nonetheless. Johnny Knox is developing into a solid WR very quickly. He's been the biggest surprise of the Bears' season for me so far (well, except Cutler's horrible first game - that was a shocker). Bennett is coming around nicely too. They've got a better team than I thought going into the season. Peyton used to annoy the crap out of me, but he's grown on me over the last year or so. I think the turnaround started with that Oreo DSRL commercial with Eli and the Williams sisters. "It's on like Donkey Kong!" :laugh3:

Yeah, the Sox need to start playing a LOT better leading into the playoffs. The hot teams are the ones that get to the next round. Hopefully someone can be a spark plug for the last week of the season.

How about Robbie Gould showing the Steelers who's boss Sunday!? That was quite an amazing game. Looking forward to Forte finally breaking out against the Seahawks on Sunday. I really think it's going to happen for him this week. And of course Jay will also make their defense look like a pee wee team.

I know I've been away awhile. Just been busy. I went to 2 Cubs games last week (Sunday vs. Reds & Monday vs. Brewers). Both were fun, Monday's was great though. Some great pitching and defense from both teams makes for a good game. I'm liking the fact that the Cubs haven't officially lost the Central yet - they won't give up. They left St. Louis on Sunday with the Cards' magic number at 4, I believe, and they still haven't been able to clinch. I'll call that an accomplishment in what has been a very disappointing 2 months. The season as a whole hasn't been bad, it's just been since the beginning of August that they fell apart. The Phillies should be worried about those injuries. Pedro doesn't surprise me, but they need either him or Happ back in top form soon, so they'll be ready for the postseason. Red Sox's wild card magic number is 3!!! How sweet would it be for them to clinch the wild card at Yankee Stadium, and keep the Yankees from clinching at the same time! That would be awesome. I'm done with my novel of a post.

I fully understand your frustration...I can't stand the Cardinals. But at least it's not the AL Central - nobody ever wants to win that division, and that's the only reason that race is usually so tight, not because the teams are really good or anything. Although in that case, maybe the Cubs and White Sox should switch divisions...then the Cubs would probably only be 2 games out at this point. (Not sure of actual records, just making a jab)

I'm glad I'm not a Pirates fan either...a losing tradition for 17 years, and counting...that would suck! At least the Nationals are new to DC. They've only had to deal with losing for 5 seasons. And the Nationals are at least trying to get better, where the Pirates are just trying to unload salary.

How deep is your love?
I wouldn't say I'm obsessed in general with Coldplay. I'm a huge fan, and I think they're the most talented band making music right now. I have my moments when I get obsessed and I'll listen to them for a whole day or two. I did have a week-long obsession after the Alpine Valley concert. They're not my absolute favorite artist though, so I'm not as dedicated to them as some others are. I really love their music, and I don't think I go an entire day ever without listening to at least one of their songs, but I don't always seek it out - sometimes a song just comes up in a playlist on my iPod. I am a very big fan though, and I'm very much looking forward to their next album and tour.
