The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Ok, so I know I'm jumping in on the conversation, but I've been a huge Muse fan for years, and I saw them twice on their North America tour in 2010. The stage production actually didn't restrict their setlists as much as stated above. They didn't have to have New Born as the third song every single time (except for the few times Knights filled that slot). They could have moved New Born to "close" the piano section. If they did that, then Matt could have played the intro, which would have been so much better than the slow, neutered Morgan version. Also, only at the end did they figure out that Citizen Erased flowed so well from the guitar to piano sections. For example, Exogenesis: Symphony Part I (Overture) Map of the Problematique Knights of Cydonia Supermassive Black Hole MK Ultra/Dead Star Hysteria Butterflies & Hurricanes/Assassin Resistance/Guiding Light Citizen Erased United States of Eurasia Ruled By Secrecy/Sunburn/Feeling Good/Cave New Born/Space Dementia Starlight/Undisclosed Desires/Bliss Unnatural Selection Time Is Running Out Plug In Baby Uprising Stockholm Syndrome Take A Bow Looking at that setlist, the variety is astounding! Between that and the standard Uprising opening, they really could have done so much. And the majority of those songs are songs they played this last tour. Also, they didn't have to play such short sets. Look at their Turin gig from 2009: Uprising Resistance New Born Map of the Problematique Supermassive Black Hole MK ULTRA Hysteria Butterflies & Hurricanes United States of Eurasia Sunburn Guiding Light Undisclosed Desires Starlight Plug In Baby Time Is Running Out Unnatural Selection Exogenesis: Symphony Part I (Overture) Stockholm Syndrome Man with a Harmonica intro + Knights of Cydonia Nineteen songs should have been the minimum number of songs for a band with six albums. Seriously. I saw them in the fall 2010 tour and they played 15 songs for less than 90 minutes. I also don't count jams/Nishe/riffs/etc. Sure, they are fun if they are spontaneous, but when they were pre-planned. If they have longer sets, then they can mix it up more. But when they only give themselves 15 songs, no variety. That's why I appreciate Coldplay. Yes, the sets don't vary between consecutive shows, but they sure do vary from the beginning of the tour to the end. Plus their shows last a full two hours. On a side note, why do concerts have to be so short? For example, Paul McCartney, AC/DC, and Bruce Springsteen all play for three hours or longer.

When I tried the password around 10:15 this morning none of the floor tickets were showing up. I can't believe that I forgot about it this morning. Hopefully I can get something on the floor tomorrow. :anxious:

Well I looked at the venue/radio presale. All I was getting was arena seats. I didn't get any floor tickets. I'm going to go for those tomorrow, I guess. Good luck to everyone else going for those as well! :)

Well, the best seats are going to be on the floor. Here are the costs for all seating: Floor seating US $96.50 Ticket + US $15.15 Fees = US $111.65 Club seating (100 or lower level) US $76.50 Ticket + US $14.75 Fees = US $91.25 US $96.50 Ticket + US $15.15 Fees = US $111.65 Loge seating (200 or upper level) US $46.50 Ticket + US $14.10 Fees = US $60.60 US $76.50 Ticket + US $14.75 Fees = US $91.25 I don't know what tickets will be offered for the radio/venue presale. The AmEx presale looks like it is only VIP or non-floor seats. I think I'll be going for it in the general sale. I just hope I can get great floor seats. :\

Does anyone know what the radio/venue presale password is going to be? Are there going to be floor seats in the presale? Or will I just have to duke it out with the general sale on the 4th?

It's about freaking time. Now I just need to convince someone to spend $125 to go with me . Seriously though, I'm going to this even if I have to get the top of the top seats. Is this going to be like all of the other US shows and have seats on the floor? If it does that's really dumb.

2012 North America Tour announced!
Well, if they have a GA, then there are thousands of tickets that grant people the possibility of a good spot. With seats on the floor, then the seats up front are naturally going resell for the most. I neglected earlier that yes, GA does not solve the problem if the concert sells out and people want to get tickets, but it does tend to level the playing field by the sheer number of tickets that are available that grant "equal seating". I'm still waiting for Detroit/Columbus/Cleveland/Cincinnati dates. Grr. I really hope I don't have to wait until 2013...

Frankly, the perfect way to solve the scalper problem for arenas and stadiums is to have GA. Then the true fans get to the barrier (because they will camp out) and the non fans can still get decent tickets if they want them, or choose to get seats. Both of my experiences are with Muse, who are not as popular here in the States, but almost every arena that they played in they had GA, and the big fans like me managed to get to the front. It makes no sense to have seats on the floor unless Coldplay/management are greedy pigs. Sadly, it looks that way. Whatever happened to not breaking the $100 mark? That seems to have been pitched out the window for this tour... Another thing, Muse sent out a presale code to their email list before any tickets went on sale. The presale actually had tickets for both the GA and the seats. Why can't Coldplay do something similar? Why use AmEx for presale, if not for monetary reasons? They certainly aren't guaranteeing that the biggest fans are going to get the best seats. This whole tour has been very disappointing to me.

2012 North America Tour announced!
I would highly recommend getting Etymotic's earplugs: http://www.etymotic.com/hp/er20.html Yes, they are kind of expensive for earplugs ($13), but my brothers and I have used them for all of the concerts we've gone to. They don't muffle any of the sound, like the cheap crappy foam ones, they just make it quieter. Don't worry, you'll be able to hear everything just fine, but your hearing won't get damaged. I used them for both of the Muse concerts I went to. I was at the barrier both times, and I forgot I even had them in. I didn't have any ringing in my ears afterwords, unlike some of my friends that went with me. :)

Why are they skipping Ohio/Michigan/Kentucky/Tennessee? (I only really care about Ohio :P) Grr. I know that they probably will come around sometime, but I want to see them now darn it! :whip:

CD Giveaway from within the 2009/10 shows - post your experiences
I went to the DTE ampitheater show in Detroit. The venue staff had LRLRL in boxes just after the exit. My dad and I, along with everybody that I saw, got 1 copy. Nobody was in a rush and it went very well. There wasn't an opportunity to get more than one. Everybody was very happy with the distribution. I just feel badly that some people couldn't get a copy at other shows.
