Mixtape Exchange XV (Summer edition)
Finally, here's my reply. That's a thing artists don't get to do when NME or Pitchfork makes a destroying review :P but don't worry, I am not harsch or anything I already had the idea of making a mixtape with summer songs before I knew who would receive my tape. Then I saw that you are from the southern part of the atmosphere and started to doubt about going through with it. Thought it shouldn’t be a problem because even though you’re in winter now, you might still feel the summer vibe. That part already failed, hahaha! Maybe because the feeling doesn’t work that well when you’re in winter setting or maybe because with some songs I have that summer feeling attached to it, but that doesn’t make it a summer song. Well, for me they are all summer hits. Also the title is cheesy, yep, I did it on purpose. I thought it wouldn’t negatively affect you since you seem to have an open mind with things, I mean, you don’t mind showing here that you love My Little Pony. That’s worth something, because short-minded people would already fall over that. It’s funny you got a 80’s vibe because none of the songs are from the 80’s. Most are from this year. Yet I have to admit that I particularly like some of those songs because of their 80’s vibe. So I can see where your comment comes from. A good example of the 80’s sound is the first song which breaths the 80’s so hard that many confuse this album and song with something that The Cure must have made in the 80’s. This is a song from 2013 though. And this album is all about summer, though it has bit of this melancholia/darkness in it. Probably because they are Swedish. They are from the same part of the world as the next artist … which you guessed right, because that is indeed Mew. In Scandinavia winters are dark, cold and depressing. It’s what makes them appreciate summer so hard and their summers are cool but with a lot of light. I notice now that most of the artists on my tape are Scandinavian. Oi, that might also have to do with the dark and down elements in it. Hm, at least others on the board agreed with me that the first song has the summer vibe going on (see e.g. this post). I spoilered the track-by-track part because it's loooong! Tracklist 1. The Mary Onettes - Evil Coast (Hit The Waves, 2013) Mew – Hawaii (No More Stories / Are Told Today / I'm Sorry / They Washed Away // No More Stories / The World Is Grey / I'm Tired / Let's Wash Away, 2009) Scarlet Chives - Somethings Never Change (Scarlet Chives, 2011) 2. Folly and the Hunter - How It Came Down (Tragic Care, 2013) 3. Still Corners - Fireflies (Strange Pleasures, 2013) 4. Earth & Fire - Weekend (Reality Fills Fantasy, 1979) 5. When Saints Go Machine – Konkylie (Konkylie, 2011) Austra - Painful Like (Olympia, 2013) 6. Mood Rings - The Line (VPI Harmony, 2013) 7. jj - High Summer (High Summer, 2012) 8. Enya - Caribbean Blue (Shepherd Moons, 1991) 9. moi Caprice - A Supplement to Sunshine (The Art of Kissing Properly, 2006) 10.Spleen United – Heat (Neanderthal, 2008) Link to mixtape: https://rapidshare.com/#!download|962p6|3619014459|Summer.rar|101625|0|0|1|referer-2C43831D6047B8445D0F7654DF137BB7

How will you remember Reilly?
For making thread like Did they record the song infront of the Great Wall of China?! I laughed so hard.

Mixtape Exchange XV (Summer edition)
Hahahaha! Ehm yeah, I really love the 80's and it was not a joke but I made a risk there and this time failed miserable. Sorry about that. I will get back with a tracklist and feedback, but for now I just want to thank you for your honesty. It's not often I read it when people actually don't like what they hear or think the mixtape sucks and sometimes I feel I read it between the lines, but it's not said (maybe out of politeness).

Mixtape Exchange XV (Summer edition)
First post updated. 7 tapes are still not reviewed/with feedback When shall I post tracklisting if the mixtape maker hasn't done yet? I still miss the tracklisting of two of the tapes. Will the mixtape maker send it to me or post it here?

Obscure characteristics you appreciate
yeah, I like hair. I already mentioned the beard/facial hair thing, but it also goes for chest hair (to the level that no chest hair is a turn off for me) and basically all hairy. Now that's a real man.

^ The book is at Chloe and she will send it to Emma (Cobalt). Both are busy with school so they asked in advance if it could take a bit more time now. I don't mind because I imagine the book otherwise wouldn't have made it to Australia. I hope the others are also patient :uhoh:

Wifi network names
Wow, my wifi picks up 16 of them and I live in a regular street with houses. Pretty good receiver I guess. There's one called @home and another @home2. Hahaha, I bet they wanted to call it @home as well. [/lame]

Obscure characteristics you appreciate
Beards, facial hear, glasses. Glasses is obscure, right? Unless seen as 'oh that guy looks smart', but that's so shallow, I don't know, what was I saying?

are you going to die a virgin?
Except that loosing your virginity can feel great and can be worth the wait. I was never one of those people that cared about dying a virgin. Maybe I am too much of a romantic sometimes, but I only wanted to do it if it was with the right guy, right moment, feeling totally like it, etc. And it was great. So I never regretted waiting for it. It can be not only painless, but also pleasant.

Top 10 Albums of Every Year Since 1960
Why a separate thread? Can't it be in this one as well? Then all people's lists get in one thread. I feel it would be more organised. Is it an idea also for parrotdies to have a link to all tops in the first post? (for people that find the thread later on or are only interested in tops of a certain era) Oi, I just notices Mike Oldfield is not in the top of 1973. Tubular Bells is my nr. 1 of that year :bomb:
