  1. Watching the bidding in the last minute of the auctions is so entertaining!
  2. That picture of him with the broken guitar is so cute. Even when things go wrong, he's still got a smile on his face. :D
  3. Also... didn't Chris use this when performing Yellow during the Viva tour?
  4. Nope... maybe it was painted after the X&Y tour, kind of as "practice" for painting the guitars for the Viva tour? "Viva" was written on the left side of the guitar...
  5. Well, so far the boys have raised about 160,000 british pounds for Kids Company (about 90,000 in completed sales, 70,000 in items yet to be finalized). Way to go! And it will only get higher...
  6. I can't believe the autoharp is going for so little (in relative terms, of course). I mean, seriously... you can play LIT at home with that thing.
  7. Yes, and this was my response to Debs... tee hee... Thank you so much Debs, I appreciate you taking the time to respond, and this is quite a relief. Many of the other fans on coldplaying.com who are bidding on items have also shared concerns about PayPal, so it is good to know that everything will be fine. As the globe brought a tear to your eye when you were preparing the items for the auction, it also brought me quite a few tears of joy when I realized that I was the winning bidder. This is indeed a great piece of history. In terms of album covers, I liken the Parachutes globe to that of the prism on the cover of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon… except the prism is artwork, whereas the globe actually exists. Thanks again for your help, and I hope you and the boys have a lovely new year. And if they happen to swing by Michigan at any point during the next few years, they are more than welcome to stop by and visit the globe, as it will reside less than 10 miles from both of the Michigan venues in which they have performed. ;) - Carrie
  8. PayPal issues update: For all of you that have been asking in this thread and via PM, between Monday and Tuesday I have attempted to resolve the issue with PayPal. I have called PayPal directly, and on each occasion they gave me different reasons for why PayPal wouldn't proceed with the checkout process. The most recent reason they gave me (and I'll just go with this one), is that PayPal has an automatic security software at checkout, which screens for unusual transactions. Since my account is brand spanking new (and also probably because the seller is new to ebay), the large purchase got flagged. So even though I went through the process of getting verified through PayPal so there would be no spending limit, and even though I called them to tell them it's okay "it's really me making the purchase", they apparently can't override the internal software. . . . BUT, here's the good news: I attempted to contact the seller, Kids Company, and Debs Wild directly via e-mail. I received a response from Debs, which made me breathe a HUGE sigh of relief. Basically, even if you run into problems with PayPal, it will be fine. Hi Don't worry... I'm pretty certain it does say within the p&p section that bank transfers will be considered. Also, as it's Christmas you'll have to forgive the fact staff have taken time off and are therefore not always available to answer queries. I'm checking every so often but I do know that a lovely lass called Gemma from Kids Co will be contacting winners so I will forward her your email and then she can handle the issue but as I say don't worry, it will be fine! Many thanks for your incredible winning bid and out of all the lots, that is the most coveted and what a great piece of history you'll have there. It was the only one that brought a tear to my eye when we were getting it all ready! Debs x
  9. The pianos are only listed under the U.K. ebay since they won't ship them (pickup only). Just google U.K. ebay, login as you normally would, and go through the same process.
  10. £4,000; or about $6,400 U.S. you can log in to ebay (or U.K. ebay) under the seller items, on down a little on the left click on 'completed listings', that will show the final purchase prices.
  11. Well, Afeather, here is PayPal's response. I'm about to whip out a can of whooparse. I mean, no sh** Sherlock, of course it doesn't "fit my pattern of transactions", becuase I recently opened the PayPal account ONLY for this purpose! Guess I need to try to arrange payment directly with coldplaykidscoauction: . . . . . . . . . . Dear Carrie, Thank you for contacting PayPal, my name is Laarni and I am happy to assist you today. I can see on your account that the transaction you tried to make was stopped by our Internal Security Program. I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. Our internal security program determines whether an individual transaction has a high risk of failure or not. This has nothing to do with your credit rating, your credit limit, the available funding source in your bank account, or the seller individually. Usually, if the transaction does not fit the pattern of transactions that you normally make, our Internal Security Program will not allow it to be initiated. Unfortunately, since there are literally thousands of transactions that go through the PayPal System each minute, it is logically impossible to manually turn it off. It is a self-regulating program. Again, this is for the security of your PayPal account. We want to safeguard you from any possible problems that might arise if we allow this transaction to be completed. Sadly to say, I cannot explain exactly why or how the program works, as that would render our Internal Security practices useless. Please keep in mind that we have this process in place to provide you with the safest online payment processing service in the world. I hope you understand the need of having this Internal Security program in the PayPal system. You can still make a payment using a different funding source. I suggest that you use an eCheck to pay for the item instead. I wish I could provide you with another option for this concern. However, this is the most appropriate solution that we have for you right now. I apologize for the inconvenience that this might have caused you. Sincerely, Laarni PayPal Consumer Support PayPal, an eBay Company . . . UPDATE: So, after speaking with PayPal, having them transfer me to various supervisors, etc., this is the final word. Even though you can go through the process of getting "verified" to get rid of any pre-set spending limit from PayPal, it turns out there actually IS an "undisclosed" transaction limit of $10,000 U.S. (which is far below the ebay limit of $15,000). Since the globe was 8,100 British pounds, that is the equivalent of approximately $13,000 U.S., which is over this "undisclosed" limit. So... I'm trying to contact the seller, etc. to arrange other payment. Of course, I'm trying to do that via e-mails, because my cell phone company can't figure out what I'm trying to dial when I call the London numbers. Argh.
  12. yyyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Go Angie! *fluff*
  13. Okay, so once in awhile I'll go through the older posts in this thread for fun. If you haven't seen it before, you've GOT to check out a post from almost 4 years ago. Post #3525 by fudge, on page 235. sweet dreams... :wideeyed: :wacky:
  14. I just checked the mail, and nothing yet. But I'm in a pretty good mood right now, so that's okay. :D
  15. Thanks for your help. Hopefully I won't need to do that (if everything is all set with PayPal by tomorrow), but it's nice to know. I'm assuming business hours over there is through 17:00?
  16. Whew. Okay, I feel better now. Now, PayPal just needs to get their arses in gear... :whip:
  17. Update... I contacted PayPal and they assured me everything was fine, apparently there are some glitches with the PayPal system and I should try to go through the payment process in 24 hours. I sent another message to the seller to make sure they know about this... Since this is my first time purchasing with ebay, does anybody know how soon sellers require payment to be received? I don't want to lose the globe just because PayPal has problems with their system.
  18. Funny... I actually had a dream about that last night, that they all met me at the airport to deliver it to me! I was told I had to pick it up in person at the airport, and as a surprise they were there waiting to deliver it. :D Now to get PayPal to work... I contacted the seller (who is actually officially listed as Debra Wild). This irks me.
  19. Yeah, I think I mentioned this a week or so ago... I'm glad I paid off my car last month!
  20. Sorry to keep you guys waiting, but yes, I got it. PayPal (or U.K. ebay, one of the two) is being a b**** right now, so I'm contacting the seller to get it resolved. mmph
  21. Hmmm... not to be mean, but how do I know you won't just tell what my max is and then go above it?
