It's a great idea to keep yourself busy. Be flexible with it though. You don't want to be tied down to it. It should be something you do for enjoyment. Art is a good idea, you have your saxophone too, you can maintain your blog and reading is also rewarding.

Try it and come home at weekends. If you don't like it then move back. It wouldn't be the end of the world. Missing out on the experiences of uni would be worse.

I don't see how this age is any more stupid than the others. It's just reported a hell of a lot more and we are more aware of mistakes than we were. There has always been greed, self interest, war and failure to protect the people sufficiently. The Age Of Stupid is just a sound bite to try and provoke people into action, but hey, if it works then good stuff.
