  5. U2 came on today. I stood by some machinery that was operating.
  6. OK, I'M GONNA EDIT THE FIRST POST SO THAT IT CONTAINS A LIST OF REQUESTED BANDS AND ALSO THE POST IN WHICH IT WAS REQUESTED (IN CASE IT HAS STIPULATIONS ON WHAT PEOPLE HAVE HEARD AND DON'T WANNA HEAR AGAIN, OR IF THEY JUST WANT THE ROCKIER STYLE SONGS ETC). That way we keep a track of things and people won't get forgotten.
  7. I would do this as a job if I could.
  8. Or try this [ame= ][ame= ] [/ame][/url] Click the link in the brackets above the vid. You can't play full playlists from an embedded vid.
  9. Of course not. That would be silly. All you have to do is offer up your life to a holy book which restricts your freedom and holds you back.
  10. http://open.spotify.com/user/braddock28/playlist/1onTG2QaVXqDdM9v8bdAKU It might be easy to hear a few tracks rather than listening to full albums.
  11. http://open.spotify.com/user/braddock28/playlist/61ZdhQLa30NyKGsmrs88De Give it a chance when you can.
  12. Are you after Blur pop or Blur mature song writing? Or have you heard it all?
  13. If you guys let me know what you have heard, and if you don't know the tracks then the general genre's, then I can sort you guys out with playlists. Spotify would be easy for me, but I can do Youtube playlists if you wish, that will require some effort though haha. Let me know.
  14. I can help you with that. You got Spotify?
  15. Some of Radiohead's more rock'y songs. 16. Do you have an interest in getting into these bands? I want it to be used as a thread where everyone can help each other get into bands. If you let me know what you have heard by Radiohead then I could make you a playlist. Do you have Spotify?
  17. OK, this is not a thread about wanting to be cool. It is about looking at an artist or band, not disliking them, just not really getting them but at the same time realising that you like similar things and the artist in question has affected millions of people and has many fans. It could just be that you haven't heard the right song to get into them and you are approaching them from the wrong angle. A year ago, for example, I found Neil Young quite annoying. His voice was too high and the music did nothing for me. Then I hit the right track (can't even remember which one now) and all of a sudden I got it. That really helped me understand where he was coming from, and from there I got more and more into him. There is still plenty of music I don't particularly like by him, some I'd go as far to say that I dislike him, given the amount he has produced, but there's a good three or four albums which I now think are awesome, and some of the tracks I disregarded at first before I got into him, have now grown on me. It got me wondering just how many artists or bands there are out there that I could like if I was given the opportunity to explore them from the right angle. It wouldn't work with bands/artists that I hate, but one person I've never really bothered about has been Bob Dylan. Many see him as one of, if not the, greatest songwriter of all time. I have always found him quite boring, and aside from Subterranean Homesick Blues and All Along The Watchtower I've not enjoyed anything (I do like 'Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again' but it's far too long). I thought I would create this thread so that people could say who they would like to give a chance, and for others to suggest tracks to start on, to see if we can all expand our musical horizons and break down some barriers we have put up from first impressions for some artists/bands. After all, if I do get into Bob Dylan there is a hell of a lot to get into. You can also suggest genres if you wish. I don't mind making playlists for people who would like them, if it is an artist/band that I know something about and like. 18. At the end of the day it all comes down to quality. Only one band produced this so the length only becomes a preference. TKOL by about 700 miles. 8 great tracks beats 1 great tracks and 2 or 3 decent ones. As for my preference, that would be 10-12 different songs (at 3.5-5 minutes long on average) . If the songs are quite progressive and cover different ideas then it can be shorter, and if the tracks are short in length then you'll need a few more.

  20. I'm in. Props to the host (who I had last time I think).
  21. I wish this poll wasn't private.
  22. Ha. No extroverts in the poll. Typical internet forum :p I got extrovert but I put don't care (which was kind of a lie since I bothered to do it).
  23. We have Radio 2 on, which is good because they have debates. Used to have a local radio station which was fucking awful. Just played shit 80's/90's music that they have on those cd's you can only order by phone and don't sell in the shops.
  24. R.E was compulsory in my school.
