  1. OK, so I will reply in more detail now and actually post a link to the mixtape (though as warned, it's all on one mp3 track rather than split into different ones). Sorry for the delay. Track one was The Flaming Lips with a song from their Yoshimi album. Got great reviews at the time and is still seen as a classic. I love the song for its drums. I think the video on youtube for it sums it up well. It isn't suitable for epileptics, though. I think some people struggle to get over the lead singers voice, as he sings higher pitched than a man with his voice traditionally would in most bands. Once it clicks they are really an awesome band to get into, and have a really varied discography spanning what must be nearly three decades now. Track two was CocoRosie, with vocals provided by Devendra Banhart. They recorded his part by ringing him up and making him sing down the phone which I think is nice. It's quite different and nice and summery (as the entire mixtape was supposed to be) with elements of opera and the spanish singing. Track three was The Black Angels with Bad Vibrations. It kind of reminds me of The Doors meets Joy Division, but maybe that's just me. Track four was Threnody by Goldmund. I've only recently found this song. Originally I heard it in the background of a youtube clip of philosopher Alan Watts speaking and it was very nice indeed. I tracked it down and it turns out there's quite a few gems on that album. This remains my favourite though. Must learn it some day. Track five was a track taken from the Deerhunter music blog, so unreleased as far as I'm aware. I have it on my ipod as being by Atlas Sound (the lead singer of Deerhunter's solo work, for those who don't know) but it's not. I'm not a fan of the title of the song as it sounds so bloody emo, but I really like the chilled out nature of the song, plus the arpeggios. Track six is J-Star by Milly Mildish. It's up on soundcloud. I like the lyrics and beachy feel to the song. It's my friend, and member of my band (I avoided putting in anything I had a hand in making, but figured this would be acceptable). There are indeed reversed vocals in it. Track seven is Tame Impala with a song from their self titled EP. I really love the guitar. It was recorded at various dates between 2003 and 2005. Track eight is The Dead Texan. Another emo title for a song, but I really liked the album this was on. Figured it would be useful to have a slow song after the manic ending to the last one. Yeah, track nine was quite a bit before the 2000's, by a little band called the Kinks way back in '65. A studio recording was never released by the Kinks themselves, but there are live versions of it available. This is supposedly from master tapes, according to youtube. Track ten is Captain Beefheart. He sings with a blues voice so is often not recognised as a white man, don't worry. I only found this song recently. I had heard a bit of his other stuff, and liked it (though some is hard to get in to). The White Stripes actually made an EP entirely of Beefheart songs. This song featured on The Big Lebowski soundtrack, though I've only learnt this after hearing it. Track eleven is Labi Siffre with 'I Got The'. It's been sampled by both Jay Z and Eminem (in The Streets are Watching and My Name Is, respectively) and I love it for its changes and energy. Plus I love that bass line when it breaks down. Seems weird that this is by the same guy who did 'Something Inside So Strong', a song that is completely different and that annoys me so much. Track twelve was Beck with Cellphone's Dead. I just love it. From the bassline (influenced by Herbie Hancock's Chameleon) to the layered vocals towards the end. Track thirteen was Scout Niblett with Nevada. I first heard her support Daniel Johnston in Manchester a good few years ago. This song stood out on the night and to be honest I've never really listened to anything else by her, even though I've got the discography. I need to at some point. Track fourteen was Brian Eno with Third Uncle. I figured it would fit onto a Cplay board given his connections with the band but decided to go with something a bit more post punk rather than his ambient work (which I love) given that I have other bands on the mixtape to provide that. Plus I think this song is very much overlooked. Track fifteen was a very long live track by a guy called Connan Mockasin. I've only come across him recently, and unfortunately he's only released one album so far, but I love it. It's a regular track playing in my car. Once again it's the energy I love. Plus the sounds they get, even though it's live. I prefer the live version to the studio version though both are good. Track sixteen is Bobby Womack with a song on his album that was produced by Damon Albarn. I really love the mix of soul and a more modern instrumentation. I thought it was a nice closer. So a reminder of the tracklisting: 1. The Flaming Lips - Are You A Hypnotist?? 2. CocoRosie - Brazilian Sun 3. The Black Angels - Bad Vibrations 4. Goldmund - Threnody 5. Deerhunter - Requiem For All The Lonely Teenagers With Passed Out Moms 6. Milly Mildish - J-Star 7. Tame Impala - Half Full Glass Of Wine 8. The Dead Texan - When I See Scissors, I Cannot Help But Think Of You 9. The Kinks - This Strange Effect 10. Captain Beefheart - Her Eyes Are A Blue Million Miles 11. Labi Siffre - I Got The 12. Beck - Cellphones Dead 13. Scout Niblett - Nevada 14. Brian Eno - Third Uncle 15. Connan Mockasin - Forever Dolphin Love (Live) 16. 2. What a shame for those who can't afford the 5 star things over there, and their life is at a much lower rung. I'm sure wifi is the least of their concerns, though.
  3. Only a few? I dunno if you're gonna die but... seems rare
  4. Might as well post an update. Got wet tonight walking in the rain. My clothes are soaked but you can't tell that in the pic. Can only see with my hair. Anyway, this is four years on.
  5. Fucking great call with On The Beach. Extra points for not putting Queen on there.
  6. Damn. I was getting excited scrolling down the page and seeing that they were collapsing.
  7. They were better the first half, we were better the second half. We should have had a penalty and missed a golden chance. They almost had the ball bounce to them in open net situations, twice. A draw was fair, so annoying to concede so late. We didn't create enough. I can't really remember their keeper making a save.
  8. I don't know many peeps with fat veins so I thought people would understand.
  9. There is a host and they pick the entire playlist and others come in to listen to what they are playing. They put it on some kind of streaming thing.
  10. Eh? I know some people who like guys with veiny arms. I don't have veiny arms.
  11. I'm talking in relationships, or possible relationships here. When you like someone it's common that people grow to appreciate a persons unique physical 'flaws' (I use the term loosely, for obvious reasons), differences or simply things that are specific to that person. For me I really, really like good posture. I don't know what it is and it's certainly not a deal breaker for a relationship, but I really like it. If I'm in a relationship with a person who has bad posture it makes no difference to me at all and I have no negativity towards it at all. I'm not sure what the reasoning behind it is. It might be because the first girl I had a crush on had really good posture in class. Or it might be that I don't have the best posture. Anyway, what obscure characteristics do you appreciate in a person. (It doesn't have to be too obscure, I'm sure posture isn't too obscure, but just not something like their eyes. Everyone likes eyes)
  12.
  13. QUICK! Someone make a thread.
  14. Who doesn't?
  15. ACTUALLY. Just realised I get fast internet on the 14th of this month so somebody else might be better going first. Last time I did one of these it lagged a bit and sometimes skipped. No point risking a repeat of that if someone else can do it. Anybody fancy it?
  16. So much fear for an adult.
  17. So much fun for a kid who doesn't know what it is.
  18. I can do one sunday. Peeps feel free to do one before if you want.
