What I meatn was that Sternly is one person, but that person likely has another board moniker, and Sternly is just that person's alt-personality.

I don't agree with banning the person, nor do my main problems with Sternly rest solely in the caps. Well you can't change people. Just because you have a problem with her CAPS, doesn't mean she is gonna change that just because you don't like.... :rolleyes: I mean if you have a problem with her caps, that's your problem, not mine or hers....main point, you can't change people & even if they did, that wouldn't be right, 'cause they are not being themselves....got it? ;) :D :) This is a gross over-simplification of the issue. Just because Carla does something doesn't justify it in-and-of-itself. That's what your argument as articulated above comes down to. The justification for that behavior must be examined against the cost of the effect. In this case, though the cost of the effect is a minor adverse reaction to a small portion of the board's population, there is no justification for the behavior. This isn't about "changing" people. Caps lock isn't an inate personal characteristic. Well take it however you want to take it....I was just saying that just because you guys wanted her to stop with the caps, she is not going to anyways....so why do you guys still make a such a big deal out it, if she isn't gonna change w/her caps no matter what you say..... Yeah, this is true. Sometimes I take it too seriously. Actually, I used to a lot. But now I'm a lot more even-keel about it. But I still don't like it. When a certain percentage of the posts on a daily basis have no use, it leads to a certain amount of clutter. When I'm combing through a thread and have to get through two pages where 50% of the posts are Carla's it has a small effect on my board experience. But I agree that this is Carla's perrogative, and in the end she doesn't mean any harm. I just think the joke isn't a joke anymore. If GUY IS A SLUT or 50 CENT or other other alt-posters went crazy. Sternly is an alt-poster on coke :)

And perhaps by you bringing up these points to us you might be affect our views? Why can't people express their disagreements without being discouraged from doing so? As long as the people are open-minded about in their approach and thoughtful in their words then the dialogue shouldn't be the eye rolling issue you're trying to make it. I respect Carla's right to do as she wishes, though I find it telling of her that she persist in doing it though many people have asked her if she could retrain from doing so. I'm not giong to force Carla to change because I can't, and if I can't why do you care if I, musiclover, or the numerous others who have choose to express their opinion? I understand that you're sticking up for Carla, and I respect that, but if your point is a larger "you guys should not be complaining" type of argument than I would strongly disagree.
