  1. Yes!!! Meg's single :P
  2. Actually, I thoguht the first six episodes of the first season were kind of boring, but that's totally acceptable considering there ahd never been a series like the Simpsons on television before and a certain "growing into" time should be expected. It seemed to me like it took the whole first season for them to even get the voices and animation techinques down. Once those things were settled, it seems like they were able to concentrate on writing episodes instead of developing their characters.
  3. OH MY GOD YOU FREAK! I WEAR BOWLING SHOES TOO! mine are definitely not super-stylin' though. although not ratty and whatnot either. Me too! Only ... well .. this is emabarassing. The pair I stole have lime green laces.

Radiohead vs. Coldplay ... that's a tough one. I'd take Radiohead. They tend to travel with more equipment and personel. Those are always good in a fight. I don't know this for sure, but Chris Martin seems pretty much like a pacifist. That won't help in a mano a mano. No, I think I'd go with Radiohead. Thom's small ... but willing.
  7. This might be completely speculative, but anybody have any clue as to when and where we night be able to see a Coldplay performance next? Any speculation should be entertaining; validated information even more so. I've already started saving money so I can fly to London to see that first little club gig they do to debut their new material. Somebody hook a brotha up!
  8. See hon? I told ya nobody knows for sure  :D I've actually heard Jack refer to it both ways, BUT ... VH-1 did report in some fluffy-special they did that Jack and Meg had been married. They quoted a time frame. It's all very nauseating and I'm sure at some point I'll find a reason to use it against their music. Right now, they're rock gawds, in the pantheon of current greatness: Coldplay Radiohead and The White Stripes. Of course, that's my personal pantheon.
  9. The only traditional CD Player I use is in my car, but it plays mp3s and wmas. So the CD (actually, the CD-RW) that's in there has all 6 Radiohead albums, Evan Dando's "Baby I'm Bored", The Lemonheads' "It's a Shame About Ray", The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs' "Fever to Tell" and both White Stripes albums. With Beulah coming into town this week, I'll probably swap their albums on there for the YYYs and Pablo Honey.
  10. Completely agree, though my preference is South Park. I think the Simpsons and South Park just approach issues differently. South Park's vehicle mandates that the issues be approached in a more niave sort of way, in a way where the basic assumptions and premises are questioned.
  11. My browser management, rf. :embarrased:

  14. I saw Radiohead last night, too. I wasn't in the pit, but I still think I saw an amazing show. Thom was a lot more affable than I expected. It really brought a lot to the show, as did the lighting effects. I do have to say that some of the people around me took away from the experience, though. There were plenty of anachronisms of concert goers; ironic, because just before radiohead started there set an attendee behind me commented how "Radiohead fans are a lot different than other fans." Yet there was still the obligatory pot smoking. There was still the constant standing. This is more of a pet peev of mine. I understand people like standing, and I don't mind the occassional standing for a highly anticipated song. But standing for the whole show? That's what the pit is for, and I don't begrudge anybody's enthusiasm or pit priviledges. But I bought a seat for a reason. There was disco-esque dancing. A lot. During inappropriate songs. Dancing during "Idioteque" I understand, but anybody who listens to Radiohead should know that there are only so many songs to which you can reasonably dance. A pair of people were doing this electric slide-style manuever across multiple seats. It was distracting and a little rude to the people behind and beside them. But overall, the show was remarkable. There were multiple times I looked around, saw all the people so devoted and commented internally on how lucky I was to be there. Bought a $30 shirt as a momento. Was moved to a huge smile more times than I can count. Stayed up until 4am this morning buzzing off the show. Saw White Stripes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Evan Dando, Radiohead and Mogwai in ten days time. This had been the best multiple-performancer concert week of my life.
  15. I saw the White Stripes when they were down here in San Diego. Soledad Brothers opened for them along with the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. I don't shar eyour opinion of the Soledad Brothers. Though I liked them, they seemed to had a very "pull over at a bar in the middle of Texas and get into a fight" kind of sound to them. Don't know if that makes sense. The YYYs were spectacular. Karin O. lived up to her reputation. "Black Tongue," "Wait," and "Rich" were highlights for me, though I was disappointed they didn't perform "Y-Control." Oh ... WSs ... Jack White was incredibly impressive. I mentioned this in the Jack black vs. Jack White thread, but you don't really realize how talented he is until you see them live. Their CDs are great, but part of the greatness is in the simplicity. On stage, seeing them perform song ater song after song, each seemingly demanding a different skill from him as Meg bangs her quarter notes ... it was dang impressive.
  16. I saw the White Stripes in concert Thursday. Jack White was very impressive. You don't realize how little Meg does until you see them live. I came away from that show thinking Jack White might been the best frontman in rock today. He was just that good. Jack Black is entertaining, but he's no Jack White, IMO.
  17. Pearl Jam is my first true musical love. You know how you have crushes in elementary school and then some time in high school you have your first love? As time goes by the love seems trite and trivial, but it's still your first love. That's Pearl Jam to me. That's the first band I was ever gung-ho, all out for. That's the first band I ever saw more than once on the same tour. That's the first band for whom I ever started collectioning singles, bootlegs, etc. To this date it's the only band for whom I've done this. And there probably won't be another. I've never thought as much about a girl as I did that first love, but that doesn't mean it was healthy :-) I still listen to PJ a ton, though.
  18. Radiohead's Hail to the Thief ... specific song: Where I End and You Begin. I just got back from their concert, so I'm in the mood. I've also been listening to Evan Dando, White Stipes and Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs ... they were all in town this week.
