Man in the Moon should have been on the record. Still can’t believe they put Orange as a hidden track to close the record… and then released A Wave as a bonus track a few days later.

Need some time to process the Full Moon Version, but, COLDPLAY HAVE RELEASED A WAVE!!!!!

Here we go. Excellent Moon Music - One of the best Coldplay songs in the last 10 years, one of the rare moments where Chris shines lyrically and vocally and the only song where I wanted to hear another verse from him. The piano is just beautiful. Could have done without the transition to FLIFIL though. Great way to start a record. Very good Alien Hits / Alien Radio - A lot of ideas thrown together into a beautiful mix. A solid attempt at replicating Sigur Ros’ Takk era. The speech fits quite well for once. Good iAAM - The first verse and the repetition of "I got this feeling" is still hilariously bad lyrically even for Coldplay standards but thank god this has turned into a good song overall. Love the chorus. Should have been longer sadly as the ending feels rushed. I can see how it was thrown on the album at the last minute. Aeterna - BANGER. They’ve nailed it. Would have been into the "Very good" category if not for that useless FLIFIL Part 2 thing. Jupiter - Will be a grower. Glad it’s different from the demo. Screams EL for the acoustic bit and Prospekts March for the violins. The 2 ALIENS bit is a nice touch. Meh FLIFIL, We Pray - We’ve known these ones for a while and lots have been said already. FLIFIL flows better in the context of the album but still is one of the weakest Coldplay lead singles and not a live gig closer by any means. We Pray is a fun song but should have been a stand alone single. One World - Their weakest closing song by a mile. It’s not even bad… but nothing is really happening until the strings. The climax and the lyric "In the end it’s just love" is corny but works well though. The Orange bit and the HFTW birds… no comment. Bad Good Feelings - A waste of a spot, a waste of a feature and the fact that song is funky doesn’t make it good. One of the most generic things they’ve ever released. All My Love - I just… don’t see the appeal for that song. Happy ballads have been done over and over by the band but their late attempts have not been particularly successful. The lalalas are particularly insufferable on this one. This is even more sad knowing Earthling is somewhere out there… Overall I was expecting much worse after the singles and the live performances. It’s more cohesive as a record than MOTS (not a difficult task though) and there are some really good ideas thrown together. Unfortunately Chris is more insufferable than ever and is the weak link of most of these songs. The lalalala are hilariously bad and irritating when you’re listening to the record from start to finish. Thank god he shines on the title track and is quite decent on Jupiter. 5.5/10.

This might be one of the best Coldplay songs in the last 10 years. Could have done without that transition to FLIFIL though.

I’ve literally said the song was a good effort. You’re not only insufferable, you’re also unable to read properly, which would be a start before getting on every single person’s back. It’s been like this for weeks. Give us a break.

I’ll try to say this as politely as I can. Can you please f** off ? I’m starting to get really tired to see you getting on people’s back as soon as they don’t share how much Coldplay is perfect and how everything they released is so good. Which is not. For weeks you’ve been unable to understand that people have critical thinking (which is apparently not your case) and different opinions. I just dont see why you bother interacting with people. What’s the point?

The verses are hilariously bad lyrically and could have been written by a 5-year-old. Overall the song tries a bit too hard to be something like DAAHF but it’s a good effort. And the chorus is so catchy. That’s a step forward!

Wait, did I miss something here? 🌈 might contain piano bits from that Earthling demo? Or is it still fan guess at this point?

Feels like this song is the new A Sky Full of Stars as lots of people are getting angry / worried with the direction the band is taking. Not a bad thing as ASFOS turned to be a Coldplay classic (whatever we think about that song) and one of their best live songs. I don’t think We Pray will reach that point but it’s a more than decent catchy tune with modern influences that would not have been out of place on Viva and EL with better production and lyrics. Could have done without Burna Boy and the song would have benefited from more Simz. She never fails. I’ll take that over something as bland and uninteresting as FLIFIL any day of the week.

Agreed. This is the closest they might ever be again from Viva/EL sounds and influences so I’m excited for once!

What the hell. Being (rightly) critical of the band doesn’t make him miserable or anything. Just like blindly defending the band every time a member says something negative on their input does not make you a better fan or anything. This is a weak song overall and one of the weakest Coldplay live closing song ever. That’s an unpopular opinion but I would even put Biutyful as a better closer. Not a good song by any means and the Angel Moon bit is cringe but at least the outro with Chris back on the piano felt like we had a proper ending to the show. FLIFIL… nah.

It’s far too easy of an argument to defend their use in FLIFIL. How are the lalalalas during the verses are supposed to benefit the song even in a live setting? They’re not anthemic or whatever and certainly do not make the song more of an anthem. This just reflects laziness in songwriting more than anything else.

A few GA tickets have been popping up on Ticketmaster the last hour for the 23rd. You might have some luck there!

Thanks for mentioning Broken as I’ve realized I had completely missed that leak. God that demo is incredible.

We Pray has to save this record. In the meantime I’ll stay in my alternate universe where Coldplay just put out a record with Tomorrow, Famous Old Painters and Wedding Bells.

The more I listen to Tomorrow the more I feel like it could have been one of their best songs ever. What a tune.

Singing for two hours is a stretch. Might be 45 minutes nowadays. It seems like We Pray is a step into the right direction and would not be out of place on Everyday Life. Kindnesss makes some harsh but valid points though.

feelslikeimlisteningtoabside Has the potential to be a catchy tune but it just feels… unfinished and empty until it finally picks up. Last minute and a half is nice. I’ve seen Magic mentioned a few times but at least Magic rests on a great bass line. That drum machine here… nah. And I’m not convinced it will translate that well live.

I’m trying not to draw conclusions before the studio release but I’m quite concerned by that live performance. This felt so… empty until it picked up in the last minute and a half or so. I can see the comparison to Higher Power as the structure is quite similar and the verses do not seem interesting by any means. Chris is not even trying lyrically but I’m not surprised anymore.

So We Pray is the Simz collab (The Sun called it Supernova)? Interesting to say the least! Tomorrow (GS) looks like a fan edit of Tomorrow (MX Demo) and Fun, doesn’t it?

I was so out of loop on Coldplay the last few months I’ve completely missed these leaks. Some of them are spectacular. I always rated Everyday Life very highly but I’m not afraid to say that era may have been their true peak. What happened since then is baffling. And from what we’ve heard Moon Music is not really promising.
