IMO (And a bunch of facts aswell) Charlie Brown is the first Promotional Single from Mylo Xyloto. It was released on November 14, 2011 to radio stations worldwide. It is actually now skeptical whether Charlie will actually be the third single from Mylo Xyloto. I mean think about it. I'm going to throw in a spooky example- Look back to July 6, 2008, a month after Viva. Strawberry Swing, Viva's first Promo Single, was released worldwide, in the exact same time frame as Charlie Brown, a month after. Now, how much time had passed since then and when it was released as the fifth single from Viva? 14 months. Yep, you heard me. September 19, 2009 was when it was released as a Single. Living proof that Promotional Single releases like Swing and Charlie don't necessarily have to be followed up immediately. I'M NOT SAYING THAT IT WILL BE RELEASED NEXT YEAR! Hell No! That would be blasphemy! I'm saying Charlie Brown may not necessarily be released as a single in the next few weeks. The music video will come in February, though, no doubt about that. What i'm seeing is that Coldplay are definitely aware that Paradise is still going reasonably well worldwide. It's still to this day receiving generally favorable airplay and had peaked on alot of charts world wide very late last year. It's still #5 on Billboard's Alternative Songs Chart. That being said, i'm also seeing that Coldplay also knows that Princess Of China is slowly becoming popular, doing better than Charlie. In fact, it has already been announced as the second Promotional from Mylo, due for release on American mainstream on February 14, 2012. Whether or not this becomes the third single and not Charlie, remains unknown. Although there are hints to that becoming possible. For one, Princess has been uploaded onto ColdplayTV on YouTube, and not Charlie. Coldplay and Rihanna are set to perform Princess at music's night of nights, the Grammy Awards on February 14 aswell. Also, Princess' artwork from the Pop-Up edition of mylo, is so far the only officially released digitally, measuring 650x650px. Could it potentially be the Promo single's artwork? In my personal opinion, not only is the Lost/Lovers paradox evident here from the viva era, but we could potentially see Charlie pushed back to the summer, like how Strawberry was pushed back a year, but obviously not THAT far. Although, that's my opinion I should really set up a blog. I'm thinking to myself again.
