Because down the line you will probably have to take science courses in any career you decide on. I am a Biology/Chemistry student, and had to take art classes :uhoh: among other ones. But since you want to do sociology, have you looked at psychology as an option?

Because you always need math, apparently... Who knows. But based on the courses you want to take, I would say a science might help you a lot.
