so this turned out to be somewhat accurate! and as the band would be playing by mid september, it's a pretty given that we'll get the first single within the next month. they probably will reveal the album release date along as well.

the only songs i really love are up with the birds and major minus. like us against the world too. up in flames thematically seems like it would have fit perfectly in GS.

i do admit that i have a skewed perception of mylo. maybe it's been long enough that i should revisit it with relatively fresh ears.

imo, viva era was overall the most creative, impactful time for coldplay. the mentality that manifested this era probably won't ever happen again. the quality of output and the range of music you got wasn't ever present in any other era. and i truly believe that if coldplay hadn't got this big and instead remained a more obscure indie band, we would have gotten a completely different discography. you can see the need to please the listeners when you look at the songs selected for lps when some of their best work was left for b-sides or eps. but that's another thing i love about coldplay. only the hardcore fans know the more obscure, best work.

well said. i'm looking forward to something new from coldplay as well. whether we'll like it or not, we'll just have to wait and see, since we officially know next to nothing about AHFOD. also, i really liked miracles when it came out. but it is so forgettable. i haven't listened to it since it's release. i too agree it suffered at production.

ok.. changing gears a little. these are rumors afterall. and seems like a coldplay representative actually commented on them this time. x so my suggestion is, better not to take it as gospel.

my problem is that there are producers that facilitate experimentation and group dynamics. but when you work with a mainstream pop song producers for the biggest stars who don't even write their own songs, it gives room for worry. not to mention, this is the first time stargate is working with a band. but i'm trying to be optimistic :) we haven't heard anything official yet. and this is coldplay we are taking about. anyway, remember all the rumors just before GS was released and how the actual name was tweeted and most of us called BS on it? it is happening again. take it with the usual pinch of salt. x

you know when you think about the kind of people that helmed the recordings before, this is quite a change of direction. in mylo, coldplay did embrace pop, but with eno and dravs. and it was quite a polarizing album with the existing fans. now this. looks like a complete pop takeover. down to the production and mixing teams. it does bother and worry me too. i feel like the band may be aiming for chart domination more with this lp. the team selections so far indicate that. by the way, another thought i had was, most of us assume that the next chapter after lp7 will be in possibly more a left-field direction. but what if lp7 is an indication of what coldplay would become after? that made me sadder..
