I've only been here for a few days, but this is so true. Baw8cc seems to weave creepiness out of nowhere. Sometimes it's not even him who is instigating it - but he will always be involved somehow.

No, I'm not at all. There is nothing wrong with the statement: Americans like baseball. So why is there something wrong with the statement: Christianity is against abortion/homosexuality/whatever. It's a generalisation based off the majority of Christian organisations/institutions. Everyone knows this. No one sees me write the above sentence and thinks "OH MY GOD ALL CHRISTIANS ARE EVIL!". It's just a figure of speech that is very common place. You don't need to fly in and try to nitpick about it. I think you should be less concerned about feeling alienated by some random atheist on the internet, and more concerned what thousands of your brethren are doing under the same label you attach yourself too. This is actually a huge confusion I have with Christians like you. You're the type who obviously have their head screwed on. I'm guessing you don't go around trying to fuck with other people's lives - but so many Christians do. I'd say that most Christian groups in the USA at the moment are actively harmful. Not all. Most. Take it out on them. They are the dickheads trying to stop people in love being together. They are the dickheads who use God's name as an excuse to further their agenda. I'm merely commenting on it. I think your perspective is off. I completely acknowledge the fact that there are so many good people like yourself who are Christian and you view your religion as a personal thing and that's that. But so many others don't do this. You should be doing something about it. You shouldn't be separating yourself saying "Oh, they are just the silly ones!" Trust me, you don't need to go as extreme as WBC to make criticisms against modern Christianity. 4 in 10 Americans believe in evolution. Yes, only 40% of Americans accept a scientific fact. This isn't some case of extremism where a small few are wrecking things for the majority. The majority are the harmful ones. The very "normal" suburban middle aged mothers who potter around the house are the harmful ones. They are the ones who stop progress from taking place. They are the ones who prevent two happy people from loving each other. They are the ones who prevent women having autonomy over their bodies. They are the ones who spread xenophobia and deny the teaching of science in schools. I don't think the problem is as minuscule as you are making it out to be. WBC is a group of lunatics who actually don't do much in the way of harm to the majority of people. I'm not that concerned with them. I'm more concerned with the millions of evil people in the USA who get passed off as totally normal. I'm concerned with the millions of Americans who think voting in Rick Santorum is a good idea. My beef is with them. I couldn't care less about WBC.

I retract my statement about you having little hands, it was just the angle of the picture. They are big hands, quite chubby too! You're a big boy! There is something slightly womanly about them though. They look so soft... Must be great on those lonely nights.

It's worrying to me that you feel you don't want to be honest and accurate about your beliefs because you think doing so will make you an asshole. Atheists can be a little smug at times, but I wouldn't call them assholes. At least we keep our morality out of the lives of others and don't subjugate millions all over the world. Well, I guess the Soviets kinda did. But you get my point. There is nothing to be ashamed of for making the laws of science a top priority.

It's cool. Are you an agnostic theist or are you agnostic in the sense that you don't know with 100% confidence there absolutely is no God but you don't believe in any? If the latter, than I'd say you're an atheist. As I said earlier, most atheists (including myself) don't claim to be 100% sure there is no God. Because that is logically impossible to be sure of.

Perhaps its just the angle of the picture. But you need to do some manual labour boy. Your hands are as clean as a baby's.

If this is a jab at my post, you should actually read it. I never said Christians today believe any of the examples I gave.

Straight off the bat, you've presented a straw man. I never said "all" Christians, I said Christianity as a whole. It's like saying "America invaded Iraq". I'm not saying all Americans went into Iraq, I'm saying the institution that is the USA has invaded Iraq. And yes, before you interject, Christianity was and still very much is an institution. So don't come at me with the "No true Scotsman" fallacy. In response to what claims Christianity has made that have been disproved: - The Earth is six thousand years old. Objectively false. - Humanity is on Earth because of the two original humans: Adam and Eve. Objectively false. - An elderly man saved the fauna population of Earth by placing two of each animal on a hand made boat. - The Dinosaurs existed along side mankind. Objectively false. - The Sun goes around the Earth. Objectively false. - Rubbing burnt pigeon ashes into wounds cleanses the wound. Objectively false. I could really go on all day. You get the point. Christianity doesn't provide answers about anything truly tangible and global. It's stopped doing that for a long time. Now I'm not saying that Christianity has been disproved. That's impossible to do. I'm just saying that all of the claims about reality Christianity and the Bible have made over the years have been completely and utterly wrong. There is no debate about it. The only thing Christianity has left in the tank is faith, philosophy and morality. Things that aren't tangible. Now there is nothing wrong with that on a personal level. That's great. But leave it out of science. And politics. God's role has been diminished something chronic. He used to be responsible for every rain storm, for every grain of sand, for every birth, for every death. Now he is kind of this vague force that "works in mysterious ways" and can't possibly be understood. Well this isn't the same God the early Christians/Jews talked about. It's evidently clear that the bible is the complete work of human imagination and ignorance. A huge chunk of bible comes from somewhere else. Most of it comes from the Byzantine religion that preceded it. All of the "facts" about the way the world works come from "facts" that were already believed to be true by the ancient people. The same is true for its opinion on morality. The same is true for its opinion on geography, physics and philosophy. Even if you look at the bible as an act of fiction - it's not a very unique one. Not many new ideas were being expressed in that book. It's just a very long rehashing of pre-existing morals that are painted against a backdrop of pre-existing folk tales that were modified. Yes, even the description of the actions of Jesus are eerily similar to actions of prophets that out date him by hundreds of years. I'm also not saying that every single Christian believes all of the nonsense I just listed above. Most Christians these days probably don't. But that's my point - why would you take the ramblings of an ancient book seriously, but then ignore the majority of what it actually says? Slightly off topic, but this picture explains my point of view: http://i.imgur.com/7GaCM.jpg .

Chris Martin about Radiohead
I know everyone will jump down my throat, but I really don't see the big deal about Radiohead. I think they're great, but I don't see why everyone treats them like the second coming of Christ.

Coldplay in policy war
Yeah you've sure got yourself one very unique country. I'm also amazed at how hateful a politician can be and actually do very well over there. I've seen a few bits and pieces about Santorum. Ridiculous. Another weird fact is only 4 out of 10 Americans accept evolution. Yes, evolution. Something that has more proof behind it than gravity. Yet somehow it's an issue of "debate". Why? Who knows. Our Prime Minister is an unmarried, female atheist at the moment. And while lots of people dislike her - it's got nothing to do with that. The one thing I love most about my country is that no one fucking cares about nonsense like this. We don't care about religion. We don't care about silly made up social issues. We just do our thing and get on with our business. I admire any and all Americans who are thoughtful people and have to put up with this bullshit on a day to day basis. For comparison, here is our news entertainment program. Glenn Beck eat your heart out: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dQk-_7pFVs]'Long Stabby Thing' - Today Show - YouTube[/ame]

Coldplay in policy war
I never knew supporting the rights of people to have self determination was "evil". The USA is a weird country. How does shit like this get on the air? Here in Australia we don't have anything even remotely similar to this. Whilst our news programs aren't perfect - they at least try to be unbiased. If someone got on television spewing bullshit like this, about any point of view, they would be laughed off the airwaves. For such a progressed country, the USA really confuses the fuck out of me.

How can I relax during a test?
I never cared about testing during school at all. I was filled with arrogance and swagger and I'd walk in and accept my fate. I'm in the process of joining the army and I've just started to get a little anxious now because if I fail it means I have to wait a long time and my career plans go down the drain. So I prepare. Remember the six p's: Prior preparation prevents piss poor performance. After that, I back myself and I'm not worried. You mention that you still get anxious even if you have prepared and studied to the max. Then you are the type of person who is just naturally a little anxious and nervous in high stress environments. That's totally cool. Life is about playing up to your strengths and turning your weaknesses into strengths. Try using the stress to help you. Get pumped up, get jumpy and nail the fuck out of that test and hit it hard. Own it. Show the nerdy ****s who examine you that you are better than they ever will be. Go mental. Fuck shit up. That is my advice. Admit you are nervous and use it. Stop worrying about it. Admit it and use it.

The whole atheism/agnosticism is bullshit. It's just a different answer to a different question. Do you believe in god? No? Then you're an atheist. Are you entirely positive that there is no God? No? Then you're agnostic. You'll find most atheists answer no to both questions. Logically, I cannot ever be certain there is no God just in the same way I can never logically be certain there is no flying spaghetti monster. In my experience, most agnostics I know are atheists who choose the term "agnostic" because it makes them sound a little more thoughtful. Having said that, there is such a thing as agnostic theists. People who believe there probably is a God but aren't quite sure of what one and think we couldn't possibly know what one it truly is. Me? I'm an atheist. But, like most atheists, I don't know for certain there is no God. I'm pretty sure there isn't, but I cannot logically say "THERE ISN'T!" just like I cannot logically say there are absolutely no ghosts or no fairies. You can never disprove something like Gods or fairies or gremlins. However Christianity has been completely disproved in every single solid claim it has made. The only thing it has left today in 2012 is faith and vague, contradictory philosophy. And that's the part you can never "disprove".

Rihanna or No Rihanna?
He would have had to sing different lyrics, so it would have sounded pretty messy. In regard to the topic, I back the band's decision. I think their performance of the song was really crappy when they did it solo. It didn't feel right, and I recall Chris saying the same thing. At the end of the day, if the band themselves feel awkward playing it with just Chris - they shouldn't be doing it like that.

Why Charlie Brown is not in the Graffiti Wall?
Charlie Brown has already been released as a single.

Why does everyone hate 'The Hardest Part'?
I think it's really bad. I remember seeing an interview where Chris said it was a regret of his.

Is the money and fame getting to Chris Martin's songwriting abilities??
I actually read every single comment before I responded. That's a rule I have in forums, especially about issues like this. Your argument = Chris Martin is no longer a good song writer because he has been influenced by Hollywood and is either too rich or too caught up with fame and pop music to care about good songwriting. You have said, as if it was a fact, that Chris Martin is now obsessed with the famous lifestyle and can't relate to "everyday" issues anymore. Which, unless I see some objective proof, is a total wank of a thing to say. This is essentially the exact same argument that Coldplay have sold out. It just uses different terminology. I call a spade a spade buddy. You're making the same argument as every other "coldplay have sold out!" idiots have. You've also not responded to 90% of my post, and you're clearly just grasping at straws.

songs you WISH coldplay would sing
I'd love to hear a live version of Up with the Birds or Don't Let it Break your Heart or even a rearranged version of Speed of Sound before I hear a cover. Having said that, I was listening to Let It Be today at work and I would love to hear Coldplay perform that song. I also really enjoy the tiny Rehab snippet (despite the wrong lyrics) that Chris sings before Fix You. I'd pay to hear the whole song with just him and the organ.

Is the money and fame getting to Chris Martin's songwriting abilities??
Scenario A: Coldplay uses their artistic direction to do something an idiot likes - OMG THEY HAVE SO MUCH INTEGRITY THEY ARE TRUE ARTISTS. Scenario B: Coldplay uses their artistic direction to do something an idiot doesn't like - OMG THE MONEY HAS GONE TO THEIR HEADS THEY ARE SELL OUTS FUCK COLDPLAY. Note: in both Scenario A and Scenario B Coldplay have incredible amounts of money and fame. Just so you fellas know, Coldplay have been incredibly rich and famous since Parachutes landed. Just because they do something you don't like doesn't mean all of a sudden they have SOLD OUT. The problem here isn't with them, it's with you. You just don't like the music they write now. Get over it and hope the next record has a different style. You don't get to take the moral high ground and claim ridiculous things just because an artist does something you don't like. This is true also. When said idiots claim Coldplay has sold out and people negate their claims they nearly always go for the "you just don't understand what I'm saying" option. It allows them to continue to take the moral high ground/intellectual high ground without doubling back. It's a clever tactic you see in all forms of life. And you're absolutely right. Mr Martin's writing, to me, seems to be of the same quality as always. Songs like Paradise have average lyrics but the band never pretended that it didn't. Paradise is quite a simple song (as far as the message goes) and it's expressed very simply. I fully believe that Chris was never trying to write something incredibly intricate. He was actually trying to write a simple song that expressed triumph over adversity so a contest winner could sing it on television. What came out was a very well composed and very well polish pop/rock song. I think songs like Everything's Not Lost, In My Place, Lost, etc were also written with a similiar state of mind. None of those songs were written in a very "high brow" way. So this clearly isn't unique to this record. All of the other songs on MX have the same lyrical quality as any other album. In fact, I think a few of them have actually raised the bar as far as Coldplay's lyrics go. In particular Us Against the World. But it's all subjective. I know some very intelligent people (one of which has a doctorate in English literature) and he thinks Paradise is one of the best songs he has ever heard and is now a Coldplay fan because of that song. He recognises it's not written in the style of Dickens, but it is incredibly powerful in doing what it is trying to do. This may be somewhat of a tangent, but it just reinforces my point. A lot of the critics in this thread have attempted to prove that their opinions of Coldplay are objectively true and are based behind intellect. They aren't. It's sheer opinion and it's all as valid as each other. No one is right. And that's fine. But I do think it's slightly overstepping the mark when you then start making objectively structured statements about the band and start trying to convince everyone that Chris Martin is now some money and fame obsessed Hollywood hot shot. I think that's bullshit.

CHARLIE BROWN MUSIC VIDEO! (both studio and live videos in first post)
This video annoys me. I think its because of the glorification of youth and rebellion, or maybe it's because half of it was a generic "nightclub" video. I think the whole issue of youth, rebellion and freedom could have come across a little better. Coldplay said they were inspired by the White Rose Movement which would have been a good premise. A truly oppressive environment where young people got together and fought against it in creative ways. But instead we were left with a group of teenagers who steal someone's car and trash it and then dance in a club. Don't see how that should be an appealing theme and I don't see the connection between cartoon rhetoric with theft and vandalism. It seemed like the wrong type of thing to glorify. You're just the worst type of person.

Why are you nitpicking my nitpicking about such tiny details?

Lyrics?!
Isn't it just "But I won't show I feel any pain"? I think you're over complicating it. "Show or feel" doesn't make sense because you're not going to show pain if you don't feel it anyway. Maybe I'm just stupid. If they say they're the official lyrics, they must right.
