The average man... let's say in America (U.S.A.) lives 78 years. 78 years x 365 days/year = 28470 living days 28470 days x 7 hours of sleep/day = 199290 hours of sleep 199290 hours of sleep x 1 day/24h x 1 year/365 days = 22,8 years of sleep in your entire life

I think I will try to go to bed later AND wake up earlier. :uhoh2: Sleeping 4-5 hours a day can't be that bad. Btw, did you know that the average man spends 22 years of his life sleeping? I mean, 22 YEARS!! ... It's a shocking number. :dozey:

Something easier-smarter would be the "simple" modification of the calendar. It wouldn't be an easy thing though. Having in account the problems we already have with our actual calendar.

Well, aren't they? Do you usually get the feeling on days: where did my time go? Maybe 24 h days are simply not enough for some. Sometimes I think days should be longer... maybe this would dramatically shorten life expectancy in most countries but at least many could say they had fewer lost/wasted days on their lifes. :dozey:

No. It has improved communication. But Facebook and other social networks have indeed negativelly affected it, I believe. I mean, how many birthday greetings I need on my wall from people I haven't spoken to in ages? It's sad that some people actually think it's enough with that for letting others know that you care for them. So facebook is dehumanizing people relationships? hell yeah! I hope I made some kind of clear point there...

*totally ignores Reilly's comment* I believe the issue is not as simple as: "The goverment telling people how to do/think" as I've noticed is the focus of most of your posts in this section. The debate is mostly for what the burka stands for culturally and religiously speaking in the western world. I mean, we're in Belgium, 21st century and it's incredible all the freedoms, rights and standard of life people there have accomplished (yeah it's the first world!), and not only for the women but for people in general after thousands of years history. I know everyone is free to dress however they want to but I think there are certain limits that must be culturally respected. In the case of the burka you can obviously see how it can be pretty akward... I mean, the idea of talking to someone hidding their face. What then if your country is slowly getting invaded by this new "trend" of using burka? and then your work colleague uses it and then the teacher of your children uses it... Obviously many may feel some disconfort on this. I think it's okay in those cases to open such debate, and that the goverments tries to deliver about this for what it's better for their people. I'm not a religious person (neither against it) and neither a xenophobic one... I'm just giving my point on what I think it's about protecting those rights and freedoms we have in some parts of the world. if you go to certain Islamic countries and you're a woman you cannot use pants and you must use the burka. That's the law there... whether is logical or not, that's how it works for that people. Then I don't see any kind of deal when countries like Belgium propose to ban burka, because they don't want women hidding their faces and that's the normal thing for their people.

okay... Today I'll finish my letter once and for all and then I'll translate it. I will study a little of this and then of that. I'll play some violin. I'll go out to check that movie, maybe I'll get to invite you. I'll get back home not too late and have some sparing time, I'll still check some things that I need... Then I'll read Anna Karenina until I feel like going to sleep. And mostly for the whole day I will try not to freak out (feel close to madden) much. :) That's the plan for the day.

Bravo!!! Some people need to accept that certain customs aren't just appropiate in other culture/countries. I heard the controversy started because a muslim teacher on a school tried to give her class using burka. That's just not the appropiate manner of having a class, at least not from the western point of view.
