  1. where does everyone get the charity ones from then, charity shops or internet or...?
  2. anything more would call for imagination, surely? ;) plus, the coldplay.com board is much the same, with the added delight of new fans asking if chris really is suicidal...
  3. refer you back to my post of page 2...:P this is what i don't get about people viewing AROBTTH: the songs are emotionally accessible if you will, perhaps not so much open as parachutes stuff, but surely this indicates a growing level of sophistication in songwriting? plus, it depends what you mean by emotionally accessible. do you mean songs that touch a chord with you straight away, or songs that make the emotions they talk about clear? tis 2 very different things. the former makes you connect in a way and the latter just blatantly states any emotion without touching you in anyway (natasha bedingfield's "these words" springs to mind :D). i'm glad the 2 albums are very different in certain ways: it's interesting to watch a band you like change and progress and try to challenge you a little more...experimentation is an odd thing. radiohead were criticised for losing some of their old fans who just couldn't get into kid a, but they managed to find a new audience...trying to think of other long-lasting bands...red hot chili peppers, for example: about 10 albums and not all the fans who adored them at the start would feel quite the same about their most recent material...
  4. anyone else feel that odd drag, when you know that certain topics are going to get exhausted to death fairly damn quickly? for example, thoughts on speed of sound, the progression (if any) of coldplay's sound...this is the time when people get ravenous for information...hence why i am buying nme again against my better judgement next week... oh and yes, i'm a little bored too....
  5. do people really believe AROBTTH was lacking in emotional connection? i refer to the soul's post, there...see, that i find surprising: warning sign, politik, the scientist and (especially) amsterdam were, i thought, emotionally accessible songs. i can understand that people might have been a little put off by the more mysterious lyrics behind the songs as opposed to the open simplicity of parachutes, but i always thought it was about what the imagery of the lyrics conjured up in one's mind mixed with the right reflection of music that made those songs for me... regardless: i won't judge an album on one song. was in my place really that representative of the whole of AROBTTH? things are going to progress, they have to and if their new style is really as alienating to older fans as some expect it to be, then that is that, really. they'll access a different audience who do connect. look at radiohead, i mean, it's not about creep anymore, is it?
  6. there looks like there should be a song to go with this...
  7. "What is TAKS testing? The TAKS test is the Texas achievement test that is administered each year to students at TPMS. Students in all grades are administered tests in math and reading. In addition, students in grade 7 take a writing test and students in grade 8 take a social studies test." for those that care :)

ahhh, so i see :) least it's more fun than just post count status, i suppose...i just went on the blackjack and won some, which i take is a good thing :P however, i'm a firm believer in gambler's ruin...except when i'm winning of course :) anyway, hopefully i will see you about soon: i'm going to be all decadent and indulge in the nme interview, see you around :)
  9. not that i am diminishing the fantastic albums or anything, but i was inspired by VH2 showing a live performance of one i love...now i've heard a studio version of said song, as a b-side, but somehow prefer the live version and i've started to find that with a lot of their stuff...are there any coldplay songs you believe sound better live or in their studio versions? apologies if this has been asked many a time...
  10. how did friend manage to get tickets this early, competition hasn't started yet?!! not envious at all, obviously...:)

I wonder if I'll get a return: last time it was calculated, turns out (as it was from when I was a student) that I'd been taxed too much, about £400...I don't hold such high hopes now. ooh, so this is how it feels to be a relative newbie :)
  22. wouldn't it have an edited date on that post, then?
  23. ohhhkay, this is so juvenile, berrywoman didn't say that, i should know because i'm currently reading the exact reply: all she said was the same thing, but without the idiots and shittier bits...
  24. holy hell, no backbiting, this is an intriguing place...
  25. intrigued by tales of the dark side...this is known as the friendlier coldplay board i believe, so i'm having a little tour... ;) now i just need to find an avatar...
