  1. I hope that helps. Notes are notes right? chords are chords. if this helps you, won't you let me know? haha
  2. I have it on guitar. Here are the basic triads for my own guitar notation. if you play these triads with the note C# in every single chord, you should have you chords. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGZiWrSvlIY Mobile Link: https://youtu.be/xGZiWrSvlIY
  3. Here's this as well. Guitar tuned E-A-D-Gb-B-E. capo on 3
  4. I think this song is better every time i hear it. I layered a lot of electric guitars on here (some of which i recorded a microphone without plugging in) and played some bass and drums and a few extras. If anyone wants to know how i played what, i'll do my best to remember :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlKvYadQgfU Mobile Link: https://youtu.be/hlKvYadQgfU
  5. and here is a very accurate tutorial (with regard to how chris martin plays the song) of Oceans on guitar. I've loved this song since i heard it for some reason. Never saw anyone on the internet quite nail it exactly so i worked it out.
  6. just sharing a video of me figuring out how to play a song by ear. I'd never tried to play this song before i recorded this. I don't know if this could be helpful to anyone, but sometimes seeing how "playing by ear" tends to look in real time, this is how i go about it. Definitely not a tutorial about how to play the song. Just a look at how I figure stuff out. cheers. Charlie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZtPrxQ_HOc Mobile Link: https://youtu.be/oZtPrxQ_HOc
  7. I ust listened to the album version and i can clearly hear that the D chord is in the traditional voicing (x-x-0-2-3-2) so i imagine the "deeper" as opposed to higher sonic's of the guitar are the way it was EQ'd. I used standard tuning for my cover. A rarity with coldplay songs, but not unheard of. :)
  8. Hey man. I don't remember how I played the electric guitar part (part B of the song if you will), but starting with "might have to to go," I recall playing a standard D chord and then a Bminor chord with the high e string open (x-2-4-4-3-0), and after those two chords alternate, i play a variety of Gmaj7 chords, with the best sounding version of the chord being (3-x-0-4-3-2) (using the thumb to fret the 3rd fret on the sixth string. thanks for the kind words. cheers
  9. Tons. All mediocrely!
  10. Hi guys. Just wanted to share an in depth tutorial i did for "Oceans," as played by chris. and i am including a cover as well. Cheers. Hope everyone's excited for the new record. Take care. Charlie (first link is the tutorial. second is the cover.) https://youtu.be/FZyNFJXuGXU

  12. Forgot to mention. Make sure to keep the palm as close to the bridge of the guitar as possible
  13. try gently muting all six strings with the region of the palm closest to the wrist and sort of on the pinky the side of the hand as well. as long as you can softly mute all strings and still have enough mobility in the wrist to strum with a pick. I remember being shown this kind of thing by a friend in high school except it was for a very standard blues riff where you mute the low E and A and fret the 2nd the 4th frets on the A string in the classic blues pattern. Sounds like Chris is doing exactly what I do for that sound. If you mute everything too firmly, it deadens everything too much. the amount of pressure you want depends on how much or little sustain you want. -Charlie
  14. man that song galaxy stuff is pretty brutal. accurate mostly, but just harsh and amateurish sounding. not to be all negative. edit: it sounds like it was all done with MIDI. nothing wrong with midi, but recordings without live takes with microphones can be incredibly sterile and rigid. There has to be at least a couple human elements mixed in IMO. I'm sure you could just re-create the clocks pad somehow. Just hearing the song in my head, the pad doesn't contain the same chordal content as the appreciated piano, does it? there are three chords in the main piano riff whereas the pad kind of sounds like there are only two. could be wrong. I might listen and try creating a pad for you. Unless that link with the actual track from the record works.
  15. Actually never heard it. ill have to check it out
  16. Yeah I'm always open to that kind of thing. I don't promise anything, but i am willing to listen/entertain ideas. Just let me know. I use Logic Pro X if that helps. Cheers. Thanks for the positive feedback!
  17. I also did a little cover of Til Kingdom Come. Someone in internet land requested a tutorial so I figured it out and ended up playing it cause why not! I never was a huge fan of the song, but having played it for the first time and having listened again to work out how to play it, it really is quite a nice song. The tuning is C-A-C-G-B-C. Basically just sliding this formation up and down (0-3-0-0-1-0) and also occasionally this chord (0-0-0-2-1-0) :) https://youtu.be/DYsc2cTbp0I
  18. Hey guys, I've been debating giving this a try for a few days. Very unstraightforward song vocally and instrumentally. I layered two acoustic guitars and two vocals. I decided to tune the guitars (D#-G#-C#-F#-G#-C#) and (D#-G#-C#-F#-B-D#) Then the chords consist of major and minor shapes with the high two strings open in the traditional Chris Martin style. This cover is a semitone flat from the key in the album version. So to play along with the album track, all the tunings need to be pitched up one semitone. Essentially, the pattern is, Amin, Gmaj, Fmaj. occasionally an Emin or Cmaj thrown in. It's all very neatly within a major key. Cheers. 19. Ok Shirky. Here is my less than stellar attempt at a tutorial of "I Ran Away." I take it that's what you were referencing correct?
  20. I should have at least six videos up publicly
  21. it could be absolutely anything. they could have sampled something themselves. They definitely used an arpeggiator for that however. That I'm sure of.
  22. That works for me. Easy Superstition99, Which sound were you referring to. there are a few
