[5-May-2014] Beacon Theatre, New York, USA
I've gone over the ticket limit, called Ticketmaster immediately, and after a little back and forth they cancelled the extra transaction. Try calling them again... they'll do it. Otherwise, it'll get cancelled when they do the ticket limit sweep and they only way you'll know is to check your order status to see which one got cancelled.

I've read also that rear orchestra past row M or so is under the overhang, so sound suffers a bit back there. Balcony and Loge really don't look bad.

Coldplay always gets interesting support acts, lol

Anyway... as far as sightlines go, has anyone here been to the Beacon? I've been doing some research, and it seems like Loge is the best place to sit for the view and full sound. Not that I'm being picky... haha

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. Chalk that one up to Governor Cuomo. The idea is to give fans the ability to sell or transfer their tickets if they can't go, and when you have will call or paperless tickets, you can't do that. It has the reverse effect of encouraging scalping.

They can't... NY law forces them to offer a transferrable ticket method in addition to will call. So we'll end up with e-tickets again

Would we have seen an announcement on twitter by the band if this second show was available to the general public? Did they make an official announcement to everyone for the Citi exclusive show in LA last month?

Ticketmaster link is up. It says delivery delay till 5PM on May 4th (24 hours before)... so hopefully that discourages scalpers...

Nope... so frustrating. Brokers pass around and sell the e-tickets like crazy. Even hard tickets only would help... Lady Gaga did that at Roseland Ballroom earlier this month, all tickets either were mailed via UPS or could be left at will call. Discouraged the brokers to some degree...

Hoping these will be will call only, but I'm not crossing my fingers because NY law requires all tickets to be transferable... :(

Yes! I guess that's a good thing for some and a bad thing for others.

Don't get me wrong... I think a second show isn't entirely off the table... especially because the band is already in NYC on May 3rd for Saturday Night Live. The Beacon has nothing scheduled on May 4th, either... there's a gap of a day right there.

The Beacon show was announced first on Live Nation NYC's twitter. 2:00AM ET on April 17. 7 minutes before Coldplay even announced the tour on their twitter, which is usually the FIRST place you see something official from the band. Before e-mails, etc. If there is a second show, I would expect it to be posted on either of those Twitter accounts by now...

http://www.ticketnews.com/news/Gov-Cuomo-signs-New-York-paperless-ticket-bill-into-law051116789 This was signed into law in 2011... it doesn't outright ban the use of paperless tickets, but requires them to be transferrable. 90% of the time, the band or promoter ends up just offering all delivery methods rather than deal with that, even if the rest of the tour is paperless or will call only. It can't be transferred through Ticketmaster's transfer system either, because the law states "Transferability is defined by a consumer being able to transfer the ticket "independent of the operator or operator's agent."

gjohnson, luckily it's so much easier to get to NY than LA! I'll still try to get a better seat and check for drops each day. I figure we won't get many shows and a major tour won't happen until after the rumored next album, so I'm willing to go all out for this. Especially since I read on Atlas Project's twitter that the show will be over 90 minutes long! Looks like people had good luck with the app.. that's how I got my ticket.

He (or she) is right -- they will. I work ticketing for major sold out shows with Live Nation and almost every single time, really good tickets are released a couple of days before the show up till show time. I was able to get an upper balcony after passing twice on a loge and lower balcony seat.

I wish paperless ticketing wasn't illegal in New York. That's simply the best way to ensure real fans who will be attending the show get the best tickets. It's really not Ticketmaster's fault... it's the state of the secondary ticket industry.

True but there will be a delivery delay until the 28th (so you won't get your e-tickets or tickets mailed by UPS before then) because they usually do an over-the-limit check. My friend got an e-mail from Citi saying tickets go on sale to cardmembers tomorrow so looks like we are almost 100% sure they go on at 10am.

The Ticketmaster page has been updated again. It says no tickets will be delivered before April 28, 2014 at 5:00PM.

That's the time it goes on sale in your time zone. Your phone automatically figures it out.

They haven't specifically said there will be invites; the way it looks now (according to the Live Nation mobile app), the Wednesday on sale will be general (open to all) with a password needed for Citi Preferred tickets, which are usually a separate reserved allotment. Mumford and Sons, I remember, had this huge post on their website about the invitation codes, and had a specific form to select the cities you wanted an invitation code for. I haven't seen that from Coldplay yet...
