I don't have much to base this on, but I'm going with a prediction that they will introduce a couple or more songs with alternate members taking lead vocals. With Will and Jonny doing lead vocals on select live songs this past tour (and yes I know it's happened before), I think the proof will be in whether they include one of those on the Live 2017 album/DVD. If so then that may be the next phase and surprises that may be in store. I reserve the right to be completely wrong.

[2017-08-25] NRG Stadium, Houston, TX (Cancelled)
shit....the show has been cancelled by the band. I'm TICKED off. I can't believe we've been strung along this long post-hurricane just to have the entire thing cancelled. A bunch of BS.

[2017-08-25] NRG Stadium, Houston, TX (Cancelled)
someone on twitter is saying that the venue is supposed to announce that the show is once and for all cancelled sometime today. I hope that's a BS rumor especially since the band itself said they'd be back. ugh.

would you be disappointed if Coldplay reschedules the Houston show soon but the concert ends up being a non-standard show with several guest appearances, etc? or would you simply be happy to attend the show period? I would be happy to attend the show period but my preference would be to attend a standard type show with only a minor deviation geared to dedicate to Houston recovery and aid. beggars can't be choosy right?

Ok, I'm going on record that the concert will be rescheduled on Friday October 13th. Yep, Friday the 13th. I have no inside info, just a stupid prediction.

Yep, the Houston Texans just recently announced their home opener will be played at NRG Stadium on September 10th as scheduled. Hopefully this will ease any worries on the promoter's behalf about the stadium's ability to handle the concert in the coming weeks and get the show rescheduled asap. http://www.houstontexans.com/news/article-2/Texans-Jaguars-game-confirmed-for-NRG-Stadium/91044260-1926-4787-8579-b7264892a7db

nothing but a rain event on Sunday? This thing just got upgraded to a strong Cat3 at landfall with 125 mph winds. with every update the picture worsens. I'm sorry but I believe you're going to be wildly off here.

The friggin city is going to be shutting down tomorrow. the prospects of putting on a show while the city preps for a week's worth of flooding is poor on everyone's part. This show simply needs to be rescheduled. I don't know what they're waiting for.

The storm just got upgraded to a likely major Category 3 storm at landfall. This is madness.

7:00 am NHC update: HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- RAINFALL: Harvey is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 10 to 15 inches with isolated maximum amounts of 25 inches over the Texas coast through next Wednesday. During the same time period Harvey is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 3 to 9 inches along its outer radius including parts of south, central, and eastern Texas and the lower Mississippi Valley. Rainfall from Harvey may cause life-threatening flooding. STORM SURGE: The combination of a dangerous storm surge and the tide will cause normally dry areas near the coast to be flooded by rising waters moving inland from the shoreline. The water is expected to reach the following heights above ground if the peak surge occurs at the time of high tide... Port Mansfield to San Luis Pass...5 to 7 ft San Luis Pass to High Island...2 to 4 ft Mouth of the Rio Grande to Port Mansfield...2 to 4 ft The deepest water will occur along the immediate coast near and to the northeast of the landfall location, where the surge will be accompanied by large and destructive waves. Surge-related flooding depends on the relative timing of the surge and the tidal cycle, and can vary greatly over short distances. For information specific to your area, please see products issued by your local National Weather Service forecast office. WIND: Hurricane conditions are likely within the hurricane warning area late Friday or Friday night, with tropical storm conditions expected to first reach the coast in the hurricane warning area Friday. SURF: Swells generated by Harvey are likely to affect the Texas, Louisiana, and northeast Mexico coasts by Friday. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office.

the big problem with the predicted path of this storm is that they're saying it's going to hang around for DAYS. that's worse news than a stronger storm that actually keeps moving. If it does indeed hang around continuing to dump buckets and buckets of rain, Houston will flood badly. It will be a nightmare, at minimum, for those of us traveling...into next week. Of course, that's a big IF the forecast is remotely accurate.

I'm disappointed as well. I was driving over from LA with my 11 year old daughter. It was going to be her first as well. Quite frustrating. I'm fairly resigned to the fact this isn't happening this week.

[2017-08-25] NRG Stadium, Houston, TX (Cancelled)
I would hope not. The gloomier the forecast looks and flooding risk is reported, the more I'm thinking the show is cancelled. The next concern is whether it is rescheduled, which I'm holding out hope for.

This link (30 minutes old) discusses coastal landfall late Friday/Friday night and the system slowing to a crawl. By that time I would anticipate Houston will be be experiencing heavy rains already. By Saturday it sounds like your ability to move around is highly questionable. https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/harvey-to-threaten-texas-with-major-flooding-to-end-the-week/70002520

no idea. hopefully they'll announce something today. there's a fairly large break in the schedule in September so hopefully they won't feel obligated to force the issue in the midst of this storm, considering the crowd will be thinner than would be otherwise. Just reschedule later in September and roll with it would seem reasonable enough.

[2017-08-25] NRG Stadium, Houston, TX (Cancelled)
I had planned to drive over from Louisiana for the show with my daughter but I can't see that as likely now with this update unless the track of this thing suddenly goes due west into Mexico.

I would hope they'd be on top of this today. The weather outlook is getting poorer by the minute. They are predicting likely flooding to a wide area of east Texas all the way to Austin over the entire weekend beginning Friday. It's not looking promising at the moment. I'm just hoping that if it is cancelled that the show is rescheduled at a later date. From the national weather service: Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 800 AM EDT Wed Aug 23 2017 For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico: 1. Satellite images, reconnaissance data and surface observations indicate that the remmants of Harvey are close to redeveloping into a tropical depression over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico about 150 miles west of Merida, Mexico. Advisories will likely be re-initiated at 10 am CDT on this system. The low is forecast to move to the northwest at about 10 mph across the western Gulf of Mexico, possibly reaching the northwestern Gulf coast late Friday. This system is likely to slow down once it reaches the coast, increasing the threat of a prolonged period of heavy rainfall and flooding across portions of Texas and Louisiana into early next week. Harvey could also produce storm surge and tropical storm or hurricane force winds along portions of the Texas coast later this week, and Tropical Storm or Hurricane Watches could be required later today for portions of the coast of northeastern Mexico, Texas, and southwestern Louisiana. Interests in these areas should monitor the progress of this system and refer to products issued by your local National Weather Service office for more information. * Formation chance through 48 hours...high...near 100 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...near 100 percent.

I'm driving over for the show and concerned about the storm as well. would be good to know what the contingency plans are in the event of a cancellation.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I have a sneaky suspicion that this album will have the band experimenting with tuning their music to a standard of 432 Hz rather than the typical 440 Hz. Do yourself a favor and do a simple google search on 432 Hz and also a google image search of 432 Hz. It may just make sense with what we're seeing thus far with the artwork.

I wish Coldplay will enhance their next album by offering a higher resolution Blu-Ray option with a 5.1 mix like a few other artists do with their albums. To hear a more spacial mix of their album would be a nice treat. Many mixing engineers and producers are very talented in not allowing it to be too gimmicky but very tasteful and enjoyable.

Has it been confirmed anywhere that Amazing Day will actually be on the new album? Or is it still possible that this was a one-off song specifically written for the Global Citizen event?

Why so much unnatural "fear" by so many. Step back...enjoy the band. Your alternative is to realize that the band never HAD to have existed in the first place. This is all just a matter of bonus material to our everyday lives so might as well accept what they have to offer and be satisfied. There are worse things to have to "deal with".
