July 7, 200422 yr I'm sorry Amanda, it'll start to get better. I'm not bi-polar, but I've been on anti-depressant medication for so long, that if I go a day without it, my whole mood changes. Its scary to think that my daily life and mood depends on if I take my meds or not. But some days are better than others, and I guess life is like that already so whatever. One of my best friends is bi-polar and she's one of the greatest girls I've ever met...she's doing good now, she's had her share of meltdowns, but she goes on. Just be strong and keep your head up b/c tomorrow is another day ;)
July 7, 200422 yr I don't think being Bi-polar can be compared to being depressive. It's more than just that. It's the mood swings of Bipolar that can kill you! :(
July 7, 200422 yr This is the story on NPR that I heard a few months ago. I HIGHLY recommend it to you folks, if you are interested in finding out more about what a BD person suffers thru... and it's a story of a 10-year old boy. Really moving! you will need Real Player, which I assume pretty much everyone now has. http://www.npr.org/features/feature.php?wfId=1898761 for other NPR stories on BD: http://search1.npr.org/search97cgi/s97_cgi?Action=FilterSearch&filter=archive_filter_clean.hts&ResultTemplate=allow_re_sort.hts&SortSpec=Date+Desc+Score+Desc&CleanQuery=bipolar&QueryText=&how_long_ago=365&collection=ME2&x=23&y=8
July 7, 200422 yr I didn't say it could be compared to being depressed. Thanks for making my day so much better tho! *sarcasm* I know bi-polar is a much worse condition, I know plenty about it and I wasn't trying to say being "depressed" is worse.
July 7, 200422 yr I didn't mean to interpret/misinterpret what you were trying to say. Sorry if it came across that way. :/
July 7, 200422 yr im just wondering if at 14 years of age the mood swings can't just be attributed to hormones? Did the doctor take that into consideration
July 7, 200422 yr I'm sure the doctor's of our world have taken hormones into consideration but its a little more than that. Its major mood swings, not getting easilly pissed off b/c your parents won't let you take the car. Its being completely fine one minute, and totally freaking out to where nothing can calm you down. Its a little more than teenage hormones.
July 7, 200422 yr I've read somewhere that many celebrities were bipolar. like, kurt cobain, for instance. so that's not exactly bad, i guess?
July 7, 200422 yr I know you were just wondering, I just tried to explain it to ya. Umm...Kurt Cobain did kill himself, so yea, I'd say its bad.
July 7, 200422 yr Author well yea being 15 it could attribute to that but he looked at my medical records and determined that i went through my hormonal stage much earlier. he says that it isnt at all as bad as it could be but it should be treated i have about all of the syptoms of it....but hey im not too worried about it i guess....the only problem at this point is self mutilation. but im not going to be too frank anymore. *turns up radiohead*
July 7, 200422 yr I don't think being Bi-polar can be compared to being depressive. It's more than just that. It's the mood swings of Bipolar that can kill you! :( That sounds to me like the "I had nothing, but felt like I had it all" I get that change f state sometimes; from being on the moon to just cannot think properly, but I say it's just like water; let it flow freely and it won't harm you........ bad comparison, but I don't mind, I don't think I've got it and, even If I do, what can I do? I can barely follow my medications now, and I will follow those.... I better stay the way I am (maybe I'm just being paranoi though)
July 8, 200422 yr the only problem at this point is self mutilation. dont worry guys think it's hot nooooootttttt
July 8, 200422 yr ....the only problem at this point is self mutilation..... Hi Amanda, I know you are going to bite my head for even saying this, but many of my friends have suffered from the same medical condition. They either got bulimic or anorexic or started mutilating themselves. I think that it is a serious problem, and I am still not convinced that conventional medicine or treatments really work. Take a look into the alternative corner, because it could help you. Take care Tanith
July 8, 200422 yr im just wondering if at 14 years of age the mood swings can't just be attributed to hormones? Did the doctor take that into consideration sure it's attributed by hormons and by evironment surround the person against bi polar syndrom nothing better than a cure of lithium.. to normalize the mood.
July 8, 200422 yr [q]nothing better than a cure of lithium[/q] bipolar....so like lithium batteries?! :D :P
