August 19, 200421 yr possibly the best album I have heard in the past 2 years. This is mind-blowing stuff. :o :D :D :D Richter is a British-based, German-born pianist and composer. Following 2002's highly-acclaimed 'Memoryhouse' - performed by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and released on the BBC's classical label, Late Junction - 'The Blue Notebooks' is his second solo album, a distinctive and adventurous work that is beautifully recorded and cinematic in scope. Opening with a text from Franz Kafka over a sparse piano melody, the album moves through gorgeous, heart-wrenching string swells of 'On The Nature Of Daylight' (which quotes a tune from 'Memoryhouse'); through to sparse but lyrical piano pieces; hazy, swirling atmospherics, avalanche pulse-beats and partially occluded melodies that recall Aphex twin's 'Ambient Works' albums; and to reverberant organ / choir recordings. I STRONGLY recommend that you go out and buy his album, or at least download it. Or at least listen to a few tracks at his website, http://www.maxrichter.com trust me, you won't be disappointed.

August 20, 200421 yr hmm, reminds me of classic Zelda music :P seriously though, it's good. It's kinda like Classic piano, but with some more modern-ish stuff.

August 20, 200421 yr Recipe for Max Richter Take 1 part Philip Glass and 1 part (as the website notes) Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works (Volume I preferable, but Volume II will do in a pinch). Add touch of A Silver Mt. Zion. Serve chilled. :smartass2: Sounds nice though. :P
