Let me preface this by saying I am a huge fan of the first two; unfortunately this latest one is crap. It is not only a bad Coldplay CD, but it is also a bad CD for anyone. It is bland, middle of the road, and just plain uneventful. There are no hairs sticking up on the back of my neck, just blood coming out of my ears. I am dissapointed, because I so loved the first two. I read the reviews on this site of people saying how great it is and feel so sorry for them, they think that because it is coldplay, their favourite band they must instinctively like it and everything about it. This said, I'm sure there are some out there who truely do love it, and to that I say your musical taste is as deep as a 13 year old girl. Sorry, but this album is just plain AWFUL! Hopefully in a few years they will rebound and comeback when there is less presure to create.

how is this album news?

I was hoping this album (X & Y) would be the equivalent of what "Joshua Tree" was for U2...a radical departure from something safe...an instantly classic album that captured the band at the pinnacle of their success and artistic talent. Sadly, the album (IMO) does not measure up to the expectations that I had. However, I do think the album is a pretty solid...give it a few more spins...it might grow on you!

 

I really like "Square One" , the new version of "Talk", "Message" is beautifully written, and "White Shadows"is an incredible song. However, the rest of the album is pretty contrived and formulaic...

Your statement quoted above is really not called for. You should consider writing something actually intelligent next time and just maybe, your response will be considered as such as well.
