July 5, 200520 yr so i'm sitting in the car with my friend and i'm in the front seat playing coldplay. so during a message i think it was, she says that because on the strings when he switches chords, and it squeaks it means that he's not holding the guitar properly. and that he's not a good guitar player if he plays like that. so i'm wondering if the sqeaking on the strings has anything to do with it? :/ she said that her sister plays guitar and used to squeak, then she learned how to hold the guitar properly and it stopped...
July 5, 200520 yr I heard it...but its not because he's a bad guitar player...its because instead of lifting his hand to move to the next note he just moves it down or up the neck of guitar!!! I asked my bro...he's 26!! And my dads a guitar teacher!! So your friend is wrong!!!! :D
July 5, 200520 yr Author i TOLD her. i'd ask my brother... but he's not here :embarrased: and he's a pretty good guitar player. :P haha from a guitar teacher, thats even better!
July 5, 200520 yr ^ Agreed, especially on Parachutes he often slides his hands across the strings, and i think it gives the songs a more natural sound to the album :)
July 5, 200520 yr Squeaking strings are cool :nice: Just means you use chords that are far away from each other on the neck of the guitar..
July 6, 200520 yr hmm yes a classical guitar teacher would slap you...but screw that. He's playing in an open tuning which requires lots of slideing ....so yes its suppose to do that. Some studios dont like it...and they put peanut oil on the fretbord...this stops the sqeak...but makes your guitar smell like...an elephant.
