rock star: INXS

Featured Replies

There were a couple of Canadians on there.

i thought suzie was the best canadian though

They needed a guy to front of that band, in my opinion.

Marty.

I watch it.. but it's a load of crap. :D

In which case, WHY are you watching it??

Cause its addicting.. it's over now though... :dozey:

just watched the finale on vh1, and i agree that jd captures the vibe of inxs - his vocal tone is very suited to their music. but that new song they did, "easy easy" was not so good at all. i think marty might come out best of all if he gets to open on the tour and cops a solo deal out of this. i really like him and his original song "trees" is really quite good. well, there's my 2 cents worth. now i must find another mindless reality show to suck up my attention...

i guess i am not used to him yet... but i way preferred him over mig - mig had a slightly odd facial structure (how superficial is that? lol). i hope the band does well,, i had sort of forgotten how much great music inxs had - was nice to hear it again. :)

Mig was kinda gay.

i don't think inxs is dead - it was a very collaborative effort, they just happened to have an extremely magnetic front man. i don't think the rest of them should have jumped in the grave with michael hutchence... perhaps they should have taken a new name and a bit different method of chosing a new lead singer, but the music is still valid... imo. :)

*justine* you just said exactly what i was trying not to say earlier - he has very feminine features on a man body - very odd :o

aHAHAHAH YES. I am blunt!

Inxs was an alright band, I didn't really get into them too much, maybe they should start out with a new singer.. see what happens.

O.K., if they formed another band and ditched the name INXS I wouldn't have a problem with it - the same with Queen.

Those bands won't ever be the same without their respective frontmen!!

true true mc, the queen thing really hangs me up too.

there aren't many bands that can fill that vacancy and still hold up... the only one i can think of offhand is ACDC - i don't think they compromised anything with the addition of brian johnson.

Perhaps, but Freddie Mercury and Michael Hutchence were synonymous with THEIR bands!!

you are quite passionate about this subject!!!! didn't mean to set you off... ;)

Well I feel quite strongly about it!! Cover bands are a good idea, but otherwise they should leave it alone!! :D

so you're saying that the whole of inxs should have killed their own music because of michael hutchence? he was not the only member and it is unfair to say inxs was ONLY inxs because of hutchence. it was by no means a solo effort, there were 5 other talented members in that band and they should not have to suffer because of michael's death. if they want to move on, then let them move on with life. they still respect michael and his contribution to the band and they've stated that michael's presence and contribution will always be a part of inxs.

marty already has his own band who have opened for bands such as interpol and other quite famous acts on tour - now because of marty's exposure on rockstar inxs, his band will definitely come through, and i think it's better that marty did not win the competition as he would have been pigeonholed into inxs's style of music and personally i don't think marty suited it (although he was my fav). i think he will come out better coming second - he sings modern songs better than the classics, and i really didn't see inxs singing a song like 'trees'. GO MARTYYYYYYYYY :)

He wasn't the ONLY part, but he was an INTEGRAL part, as Freddie was in Queen.

A band is defined by its frontman - that's just the way it is.

Could you imagine Coldplay without Chris, or with somebody in his place? Exactly!! :)
