nice!hi Chenlong!

what poem is it this time...french ?:)"le temps des cathédrales "

who´s the author?

I guess u can only see the squares instead of Chinese characters...:dozey:

well, as to the French one, it's a part of the song lyrics in Notre Dame de Paris (opera), the song's name isLe temps des cathédrales (I don't know how to say it in English, could u do me a favour, Ari?):)

I read it after translation (Chinese version)

Acutually, my art teacher let us watch it (dvd) in her lesson. It's a marvelous opera.

ps. I copied it from its Chinese site.

yes i noticied the play back on los lunnis.. well... :(

hiya chenlong :nice: how are you doing?

nice poem, who's the author?

no!I can see the Chinese characters!what do they mean?

Is le temps des cathedrales "the time of cathedrals"?

cool I wanted to see notre dame de paris too...I´ll do it sooner or later:P

Oh notre dame de paris from victor hugo if i'm not mistaken (the book, not the opera)

i'll translate it into english on the next post.

Il est foutu le temps des cathédrales

La foule des barbares

Est aux portes de la ville

Laissez entrer ces païens, ces vandales

La fin de ce monde

Est prévue pour l'an deux mille

i think the translation is:

it was the time of cathedrals

the crowd of barbarians

is at the gates of the town

let enter the pagans, the vandals

the end of this world

is forecasted to the year 2000.

i prefer the original french version i think.

^wow can you believe that I had understood most of it*proud*

I ´d really love to learn french properly...I´ve had some lessons this year but <I think I´ll continue next year:D

it´s such a beautiful language:heart:

yeah, I'm fine just tired.

That's right, Ari. Thank you for your help. I mean that I know the meaning of the French lyrics because I read the translated Chinese version, but I cannot translate it into English. Sorry for my poor english, it's really hard to me.

well, the Chinese poem is one of my fav chinese classical poems.

it's really very very very...hard for me to translate it into english.

The author's name is 元稹(Yuan Zhen)

I find him and his most famous poem on wikipedia

here is the link 元稹

unfortunatelly i must reckon that my pronunciation in french is not very good...

I´ve never studied french cause we used to study German as second language....I ´ve started a facultative course at school and I really love it..

My french teacher(who is actually french and it really helps I think) told me that I am really good at learning foreign languages and said that after so little time my french pronountiation was good...that made my day:blush::blush:

AAAAAAAAAAAnd..........

Thank you veeeeeeeeeeeery much, Ari. Your translation is marvelous.

well, I don't think the Wikipedia translation is good enough, because the original Chinese poem is much more poetic, very beautiful that is beyond my words.

really missing my high school and the art lesson there

great to know that giuly ;) lucky you you have a french teacher... mines are always spanish and women, nothing against it but.. oh we had a french reader, that came to my class 2 times, and which i had a crush... most my classmates said that he was a girl lol... he looked so like david bowie, with long hair, always wear dark clothes :smug: blond hair, clear eyes... i still remember the day when i saw him with short hair, he was even cool :nice:

i was so happy that he had heard of coldplay :nice: nobody knew them at that time.

lol i'm  now :p

btw my portuguese teacher told me that she was surprised how easy i learn portuguese... sometimes i even knew what she was going to tell (about vocabulary). it was fun when we talked and changed to french or english (she is also a french teacher and was planning to go to edinburg on holidays). :nice:

well my teacher is also a woman:lol: but I think she´s really cool!

a crush on a man who looks like david bowie?...lol:p

yeah it is really cool when you can switch language so easily with a person..I would really like to do that:p

yes and our french teachers at high school, broke something on their feet at the first week of the year... so strange

yes so strange but... it was 'cause i fistly saw him on a long dark jacket, and i love men wearing that lol... he had so beautiful eyes, and he always so kind with me :nice:

when i finished that year i even wrote two poems to him in spanish, and i wanted to let him known them by giving them to my tutor, the excuse that i did is that i had to wrote a poem to each teacher too.... thanking them for teaching us... lol... just my music teacher thanked the poem that i wrote to him. obviously the poems to the other teacher hadn't anything related to love, just about what they teached us, for instance, the one for latin teacher, i mentioned julius caesar and homer... :)

lol it came so easily lol... i like it :nice:

thanks for the link...and don´t mind your wnglish isn´t soo bad;)

anyway I´ve always wondered how you can write chinese ón the computer...what type of typer have you got?

You two typed so fast...I hardly answer it soon...

thank you very much, Giuly.

well, how to answer your question? mmm.....everything on my computer, i mean, programms, Microsoft software and so on are all Chinese.

hmmm.... i think you mean how I can type Chinese with westen letters on computer?

right?

well, I don't know the situation in japan or korea. In China mainland, we have Pinyin system, which originally for the people to use it to pronounce Chinese words....and now, we also use it to type Chinese characters on cell phones, computers...because the keyboard is all english letters..

actually, I don't it very clearly...give u a link about Pinyin on wiki

lol me and Bea are champions at answering to forums:sneaky::P:P

wow it´s quite complicated!...so you can use both alphabets?....I don´t undertsand it really good cause I thought that you could be able to represent a lot of words in just 1 anagram and that you can improve with studies in the years and therefore I couldn´t understand how you can understand each other...so I imagine there is a standard language and knowing of different signs..?

yes we are champions :sneaky: :p

althought my connection is not so fast now.

i heard time ago that kids in china had to learn 3000 character on the first year of school, am i right chenlong?

btw giuly i'm thinking to keep alive placebo thread by posting a video of them each day and the lyrics (as i do on ari thread with song of the day), but i don't know with which one start with, every you every me is the first song mentioned on the thread.... but their first single was another one, dunno which one to post...

btw david told me that there's another placebo thread, older and with more stuff but i couldn't found it yet... (i remember that there was another thread with pics...)

well, I don't remember the details...but I remember that it's really hard for us to finish the Chinese homework in the first and second year of primary school.

An english teacher of mine(she's Chinese American) said it's really hard to learn chinese especially writing. she said she had to write many characters and words so that she can remember them correctly.

i saw many forigners on TV shows in Shanghai, it seems that they feel much easier to speak Chinese than writing.:shocked2:

by contrast, I think it's easier to write english than to speak it fluently:P
