I'm happy that the weekend began. :) today was horrible...

Yeah,our weekend here is Friday and Saturday.

Really? Well... when your'e thinking 'bout that, it doesn't make any difference to our weekend - just one day earlier.

Erm, just a school. All weekends are like that here. And in all Muslim countries....

As far as I know the Friday/Saturday-Weekend makes more sense, because the real day, at which the week begins, is sunday - so friday/saturday is the real weekend. But in our christian society it's more or less forbidden to work sundays (i think, it's written in the bible), so we took sat/sun as weekend.

It's the same in Islam. And I think Jewish people don't work on Saturday's, but I'm not sure.

is it true that you aren't allowed to drink alcohol and things like that???

No alcohol, no ham (or any Pig's meat) and no sex.

 

I can manage without the first two, but the last one is a huge challenge, especially when I'm in Europe.

In Islam, only married couples can have sex. Basically, because the person you marry is supposed to be the one you love and will share your life with etc.

Ok....we talk about the different religion in our religion lessons at the moment...so I had to ask!Can't imagine things like that...

Yeah of course...I think many people get the wrong impression of islam....many have prejudices!

Definitely... there are a lot of things you just don't understand. For example why do women have less rights in Islam than men? Is there a religious explanation for that?
