September 2, 200521 yr Hey guys, Im going to see Coldplay at Newcastle on the 18th December and last time I saw the guys at V2003, I was so dissapointed when I couldn't find a recorded version of the gig (Stafford not Chelmsford). So anyway this time I don't want to miss out, and I want to record the gig in it's entirety. How would I go about doing this? Anyone out there who have recorded a concert? Il be standing as well and probably singing along, all of this will probably come out on the recording won't it!
September 2, 200521 yr I'm gonna try (and most likely have really crappy quality) to use my MP3 player. It's got a really small microphone and I'll be in the back, but it might work. I dunno what else you could use.
September 2, 200521 yr Do you mean this one? http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21124 If so, that's for recording off of a PC, not from a live concert. If not, disregard that ;)
September 2, 200521 yr If you want the cheapest option to record a half-decent recording get a Sony/sharp MD recorder and a sony condenser mic. For example the recent san diego concert was recorded with a sony MZ-R70, a soundpro batt box, and some sony ECM-717 mics. You could probably forego the batt box and just record mic-in rather than line-in. But like most things, the more you pay the better the quality.
September 2, 200521 yr Author Corum - I saw the other thread but like Kelsen says that was recording through a PC. I think Il ask one of my mates from uni if I can borrow one of the mini discs and see if somehow there is a condenser mic lyring around, unless somebody out there is going to be recording the Newcastle gig, then it saves me a WHOLE lot of hassle!

September 20, 200521 yr Author Nope. Cameras I think you can just get away with, but video cameras is a definete no-no.
