"make poverty history" ads banned

Featured Replies

Maybe they could make the ads less 'political'... Change them so there won't be any political slant, then relaunch them.

But I think the solution is to ammend the regulations... Someone needs to lobby to have the law changed

i don't know how they'd do that though...I don't personally think they're political messages at all, I think they're more human morality messages. All the ads say is every 3 seconds a child dies from preventable poverty...they don't blame anyone, they just ask for our voices...the ads aren't political...the campaign as a whole might be...but at least you can still see them online!!! ;)

^^ I think Ofcom thinks (with or without external pressure) that because the ads imply that world poverty is preventable if the government does something (even if it's indirectly - by letting the government know through the people voicing discontent) that it's political... i.e. the NGOs are being anti-government.

As for ammending the law, I suppose some politician/parliamentarian will have to take that up... Fat chance though that they will :dozey: Maybe they should just ban political parties from the airwaves and allow others e.g. NGOs to voice their views, political or not... After all, freedom of expression???
