GNP:

Israel had one of the highest GNP (Gross National Product) growth rates from the 1980's to 1990's and continues to grow. The country has remarkable production capacity and exports in industrial and agricultural areas, a modern and well-developed economic infrastructure, and its technological innovations, have led to an increasing cooperation between Israel and global business community. Israel's electronics and software is one of their fastest growing manufacturing sectors.

GNP per capita (in $US)

1960 1,145

1970 1,776

1980 5010

1996 13,374

2000 15,000

2002 16,020

how does israel's location effect it politically?

Israel is smack dab in the middle of everyone's way between Egypt and Asia so a lot of countries have to move through there with goods, etc and it's generally had a negative effect on Israel.

It's also located in between a lot of muslim nations (and close to mecca). They are like a religious island in the middle of the torrential waves of other religions which have generally had a negative effect on finding any political alliances. while the scattered extremists of other religions continue to attempt to kill the Isrealites for their religious beliefs.
