Rudz grossly overreacted to something which wasn't personal.;)

Maybe it wasn't, but he overreacted to your "funny" comments about something he respects and it's part of his beliefs.

Mark making fun of Rudz's religion's traditional things.

That's not true. I was merely criticising a "radical" piece of clothing which I believe has no place in either western society or the modern world. In my opinion, it was fair comment, and if people read too much into it, that's their problem.

Still doesn't excuse "getting personal" in response.;)

But according to Mark, a person get offended just when they want to, so Rudz is being "childish" cuz he felt offended.

Well as I said, you can't stop people being "offended" by anything. I don't think Rick was ever really offended by the "sheep" jokes, whatever anyone else might have said.

He might well have found it annoying, but I think he was just "playing a game" most of the time.

Otherwise I'm sure he wouldn't have supported me against all the "mobbing" that's been taking place recently, in which he has shown himself to be a thoroughly decent individual.;)

So in other words, Rudy wasn't being "childish" by being offended, but he has been by repeatedly resorting to personal remarks/abuse in response.;)

As I said in another thread, there was a Sikh guy on TV the other day who stated that making fun of his turban was not insulting his religion as it wasn't a religious "symbol" in itself.

In the Sikh religion, it's the hair that's sacred, not what covers it.

The problem is, some people overreact to just about anything.

Furthermore, there were people (predominantly the usual ones) who attacked that thread who were clearly just looking for "a fight" as always.

I had no problem discussing the topic with "sensible" people who were able to debate the issue in a non-reactionary manner.;)

As I explained in the other post, that might be true, but the way he reacted to it was very childish indeed and completely OTT.;)

And as I stated in the thread at the time, there is nothing in that faith that states the complete face needs to be covered at all times. It is completely unnecessary, as is proven by the vast majority for whom hair coverings are more than sufficient.;)

Even if Rudy disagrees with this, hurling personal abuse at someone simply for having a different opinion is completely out-of-order.

Yeah but like you said it, it has no place in Western Society, you should know some people take those comments as something personal, since religion means a lot to non western society people (not saying that Rudz wouldn't understand you critizicing, cuz we've talked about religion so many times.) But you posting pics of people taking pictures of those women from those lol sites and saying they look scary was completely disrespectful.

But it was the guy who made fun of HIS turban, it wasn't someone else telling him "hey wearing that turban makes you look ridiculous" or something like that, and it all depends on what means what on each religion.

And well your comments in that thread didn't really help to keep it fight-less.

Yeah but like you said it, it has no place in Western Society, you should know some people take those comments as something personal,

If they really take offence that easily, they really shouldn't be on a public messageboard IMO.;)

No it wasn't, as the situation that was depicted was clearly ridiculous, which is why someone uploaded those photos in the first place.

And if you find something "scary-looking", you find it "scary-looking", whether it's a spider, a snake, Serena Williams or a person with their identity concealed. It is merely an opinion, nothing more.;)

But it was the guy who made fun of HIS turban, it wasn't someone else telling him "hey wearing that turban makes you look ridiculous" or something like that, and it all depends on what means what on each religion.

Completely wrong. He made it clear that if someone told him he looked ridiculous in his turban, he might not appreciate the comment, but he certainly wouldn't regard it as an attack on his faith, which is the correct attitude in that instance.;)

And well your comments in that thread didn't really help to keep it fight-less.

As usual, I was reacting to intense provocation and overreaction from certain people (one in particular) who were only intent on causing trouble (owing to their "agenda").

Of course, if people go looking for a fight, one is probably inevitable.;)

There were, thankfully, several people who were able to debate the issue without getting unnecessarily personal and abusive.;)

Rick will remember there was a similar situation a few years ago with the "turkey" thread (about birds), which was totally innocent.:dozey:

By the way, I think the Pope looks rather ridiculous in his "hat". Does that make me anti-Catholic?

Whatever Mark.

You think your "funny" comments aren't meant to be offensive just because you don't call people c***s, the truth is your comments can be really offensive even if you don't use those words and you deny yourself to accept that, good for you, but that's part of the reason why some people attack you here.

Whatever Mark.

You thingk your "funny" aren't meant to be offensive just beacuse you don't call people c***s, the thruth is your comments can be really offensive even if you don't use those words and you deny yourself to accept that, good for you, but that's part of the reason why some people attack you here.

As I've said several times already, anyone can find anything offensive if they wish to.

It still doesn't excuse anyone being personally attacked simply because they have different views on a subject.

This is what I've been saying all along, and there are still some who haven't got the message. Abusing people's personal details and photos is totally unacceptable, whoever it is.;)

If you don't agree with someone's "opinions" or humour, put them on "ignore".

What Rick and Briggins said to me via PM was spot on, and was an unbiased view, which makes a big difference.

I've had my differences with both of them over the years, so it could in no way be suggested either of them is biased in my favour.

Yours, on the other hand, is clearly a biased one, or else you would agree with what Rick said.

I will only post what Rick said here if he says it's OK. Otherwise he can PM you a copy of it if he wants.;)

Yeah I can agree with Rick cuz he sent me the PM.

I have nothing against you, but just because I don't think most of your posts/puns are funny I'll be attacking you in every thread. I respect Rudz attitute towards you, it's his choice after all, and even if you say he got offended or people get offended cuz they want to, doesn't mean your posts will always be objective and unbiased.

Yeah I can agree with Rick cuz he sent me the PM.

When?

So if you agree with him, I don't see what the problem is.;)

I have nothing against you, but just because I don't think most of your posts/puns are funny I'll be attacking you in every thread.

Well that's the kind of unacceptable behaviour we've been talking about. If you don't like them, put me on "ignore" and everything will be fine. Anyone who gets "personal" about stuff like that is pathetic.;)

If Rick didn't think any of my posts were funny I'm sure he would have put me on "ignore" years ago.

I respect Rudz attitute towards you, it's his choice after all,

As I said, if he wants to ignore me, that's his choice. Being personally abusive is unacceptable.;)

and even if you say he got offended or people get offended cuz they want to, doesn't mean your posts will always be objective and unbiased.

Opinions are generally biased, because that's their nature. If I say Coldplay are the best band in the world, that's clearly a biased opinion, but so what?

If Rick says "Rammstein" are the best band in the world, does that mean I'm going to go around calling him a "c**t"?

Of course not.;)

I might take the p*ss of course, but that's a totally different matter, and Rick knows it.

A perfect example of how things can be sorted out amicably with "no hard feelings" afterwards is what happened between me and Briggins.

We had a big disagreement about what I said about a particular topic, and as soon as I could see his point re: the matter, everything was resolved without any further conflict.

That's why I have a great deal of respect for what Briggins says, while I don't for what many others say.;)

When?

So if you agree with him, I don't see what the problem is.;)

I was being scarcastic.

Again, I was being sarcastic.

It still is his choice.

So do I, I never said that because I don't agree with you in something I'll call you c***.

I was being scarcastic.

Again, I was being sarcastic.

Well in that case it would be better if you used a few more smilies to indicate that.;)

It still is his choice.

Still isn't acceptable.;)

So do I, I never said that because I don't agree with you in something I'll call you c***.

Well you also shouldn't support the behaviour of those who do (one person in particular springing to mind).;)

Oh, another person "offended" by Mark's comments. What a surprise. Why do people need to overreact these days? Political correctness gone mad. If Mark said to me because I'm Scottish "oh, how was your haggis?" or "was your porridge just right" etc I wouldn't be offended because I am not a sensitive politically correct idiot.

So, how was your haggis?

Well said, mate.;)

As I said, I'm sure there are several people who have "taken offence" at such comments because it suited their "agenda", if you know what I mean.;)

By the way, shouldn't you be at bagpipe practice?
