Official Tickemaster Coldplay Twisted Logic Auction

Featured Replies

from Coldplay.com:

Whenever we put our tickets up for sale an enormous amount of them end up being sold on sites like ebay and scalper sites.

A lot of these auction sites are selling counterfeit tickets ans in some cases just plain ripping fans off.

We have given a small number of tickets for the next North American tour to Ticketmaster to auction through legitimate auction site that they have set up for Coldplay of which a portion of the proceeds from these auctions will be donated to charity.

Again this is a part of our on-going plan to make sure as many tickets get into real fans hands and to stop scalpers making money and making fans miserable from counterfeit tickets.

:)

"a portion" is donated to charity.

how big of a portion? :dozey:

Thats what I'd like to know.. and which charity.. ??

...and how have they ensured the following won't happen?

1) Prices don't exceed those charged by the scalpers

2) Tickets aren't bought BY the scalpers at auction, and then re-sold at a higher price.

Ebay is a legitimate auction site so this auction is no different. (Except for the % portion going to charity, which isn't divulged anyway)

i agree i think its really hypocritical The prices are way over the face value of the tickets and really the only way they can justify this to me without being hypocritical is if all (or at least anything over face value) is donated to charity. otherwise i would never even consider it because its doing exactly what ebay does. For all we know a dollar could be going to charity. Im a bit dissapointed in this whole system, theyre taking a ton of amazing seats for it as well. They should just take a couple really good seats not as many as they did because i believe this is taking the good seats away from true fans. theyre just giving it to rich fans or scalpers not true fans.....they're simply sugar coating ticket scalping to me

sorry i had to vent a little about this system. its ridiculous to me

why is the minimum bid $90 or $100? Why couldn't the starting bid be a penny? either way, the price is going to be high when it ends.

I can't believe I even considered this alternative.. but then I saw they added a second show..... tickets are still available on ticketmaster.. but, I'm not going to try... :embarrased: and if I find out they sang Amsterdam.... I will seriously die!!

Shouldnt all the money that goes over a normal price be donated to charity....I dont really like this idea.

seriously.. some of them are like at $300 alredy.. and thers still like 9 days left to the auction.. this is gonna turn out to be some crazy shiz. :stunned:

Argghh!!

A week away from the States followed by a helpless week without a computer and here I am caught in the dark without a single FUCKING ticket to account for!!

When did they send the presale notices out dangit? This system is a crock of shit.

The only hope now is to auction for a tix and have a nickel or two of my $800 bid go to some nonexistent charity.

Rubbish.

RUTHERFORD DAMMIT!

  • 2 weeks later...

I ended up getting great seats through the auction for only $11 more than the face value of the other seats i had.

My first tickets were seats in section 105...now its section 15 MUCH CLOSER

I was amazed at how some bid at over $1,000 for front rows. I am happy where I now stand. STOKED about seeing them.

Anyways, after I bought the tickets, ticketmaster didn't really tell me how much of what I paid was going to charity or to WHAT charity for that matter. I looked around on the site for a while and saw nothing :/ :/ ...my teacher cracked a joke and said for all he knew it could have gone to the "Chris Martin Retirement Funds Charity"

Oh yeah...and I refused to give in to the scalping buisness...the old tickets are now in hands of good friends who bought em for face value. :D

i will be succombing to the Ticketmaster auction. BLING BLING boys!

I agree. :smash:
