I've got a probably stupid question. I love the song In the Sun from the Austin City Limits gig (sung with Michael Stipe) and I was wondering if anyone knows where that song is from. Is it a cover, or an original song? They might have said it at the concert, I can't remember.

I dunno but it sounds just like The Hardest Part, thats for sure.

It's a cover. The song is by a guy named Joseph Arthur and is off of his album Come to Where I'm From.

 

Joseph Arthur is fantastic and isn't as well-known as he deservs. Two of his albums, Redemption's Son and Our Shadows Will Remain, are personal favorites.
