Travel from (Heatrow) to Portsmouth/Southampton?

Featured Replies

How's the best/cheapest way to travel from Heathrow/Stanstead to Portsmouth or Southampton?

Trains to Southampton and Portsmouth leave from Waterloo station. (best)

I believe you can get a coach from Victoria Coach station. (cheapest)

Heathrow get the underground to Victoria direct on the Piccadilly line then from there direct train to Portsmouth Harbour. From there you can get either the FastCat from the same area, the hovercraft from the seafront or the car ferry from behind my house! I am your man if you are coming to Portsmouth! :D

the fast ferries from portsmouth go to ryde and from there you can take a bus number 1 from stand A, or was it B? to newport (but beware of the traffic cuz i think it`s gonna be massive on the festival weekend).

ferries from southampton go to east cows and from there i don`t know what bus to take cuz i forgot. but it`s better to go to portsmouth and then to ryde i think.

If you do travel on the car ferry to East Cowes as a foot passenger, then the bus you catch is the number 5 to Newport. They might do special buses to the festival - on that I am not sure.

Here is the Southern Vectis website for people that will need to travel by bus:

It has been a while since I travelled on a bus round the Island. I had a ickling that it was 5, but thought I would check through the Southern Vectis website first!!

I moved to the Island when I was 3 and stayed there for 17 years!!!

I went there once and got sunburn... I looked like a grumpy lobster!

I lived in East Cowes for 5 years and then moved to Wootton where I stayed for 12 years. Next moved to the mainland as it had better job prospects - somewhere called Southampton.

i`ve been to east cowes twice. once on my way to southampton and then in august when you`ve got this some sort of festival over there.

my boyfriend studied in southampton :laugh3:

That effectively means I have been past your house more than 34 times.

Ā

(Go down to Pompey/IOW once a year at least, which means went past your house twice each journey.)

Ā

Nice one. :) Next time I should go knock on your door.

^ Wasn't Bestival was it?

Ā
