Some ska and Funk music (with sax?)

Featured Replies

Ok.....can anyone of you recommend some ska or funk music which includes saxophon?

This is the style I want to play....and I don't know many bands who make music like that!

I'm talking about stuff like Aretha Franklin.....or James brown....ska music with rock elements would also be cool!

Thanks in advance....

Julia:nice:

I think some of Etta James songs have saxaphone in it.

" I Just Want to Make Love To You" is one if them.

not too familiar with ska, but my roommate like to listen to the Suicide Machines and they are upbeat ska. Check it out, I think it might be what you are looking for.

I already mentioned Madness - loads of sax featured in pretty much all their songs.

The Specials.

Jr. Walker & The Allstars

Aretha - Freeway of Love contains a great sax break.

So does Kenny G - What Does It Take (To Win Your Love) (cover of Jr. Walker song).

Earth, Wind & Fire

Cat Empire are around now (Aussie band).

Anything by Tom Browne (jazz funk) - biggest hit was "Funkin' For Jamaica".

If ska is mixed with funk, does it become skunk??:P

I don't think that name would win over too many.

No - I think it would be more likely to cause a bit of a stink!!:P

Oh thanks guys:nice:

I think you should now change your username to "Skunk rocker"!!:P
