I guess law has to exist for every person, since it's impossible to make special law for each unique person and since people are different of course that things'll get illogical...

Obviously age isnt the best meter to judge people, but in my opinion its the only way.

For instance rules regarding drinking alcohol are normall at 18, 16 in other countries. That, obviously means that, according to the state you're mature enough to drink at 18, were as some are maturer at 15 then others at 18.

In terms of these 'norms' or generilisations, this is a different story. To say that its normal at 5 to talk, at 7 to spell, at 25 to be married is crazy. Unfortunately though, are society is dominated by these norms/ You must fit in, and do what is 'normal' and what others do or else you'll stand out.

Bingo.

And why is it that at other coutries..drinking ages are legal at younger ages than 21 (like here in the US)? Does that mean that they are more responsible..or government choice (<<well yes that ..but you know) why did they choose lower ages ?

Unfortunately for you, Lera...you will have to go into that world of adults. There is no way out but the hippie way..and you say you don't enjoy "sex" so watch out for the hippies.

Seriously. Most adults are like that...their world revoloves around money and there seems no way around it! What are they to do? Live single, no children, no work for support.

I see your point and wish things were different for all those entering into adulthood...but If you can tell me another way out.. You are a hero.

Then I have two ways. Die young or be teen inside adult body. You know, these people who're children even at 47. I'll be one of them maybe.

re-read my thread' date=' hunni [/quote']

What can I derive from it is that you generally think you are more mature than most of your peers. How can you be so sure of it, given the high divorce rate in developed countries many kids live with only one parent, and don't experience "typical childhood".In fact I bet at least 80% of adolescents think they are at least tiny bit more mature then rest of their friends.

I understand why this would be necesssary..i just question things

Well it's impossible for everyone to be satisfied or for the laws to be fair to everyone, so it makes no sense to break your head over it ;)

I base this on what I have gathered from my friends. Sometimes...the only way to judge a person is by what they day and do.

Partying every weekend and messing up their lives by sleeping around and doing dangerous drugs...is NOT mature in my books.

These are the types of kids I hang around with..and a majority is like that. Sweetie, I am not saying alll of my friends are like that ..and that they are all worthless sacks of crap...but some of them are..

And I say this because some I have known for a really, painfully long time.

And this is all they have shown me as proof of their maturity.

Correct.

Well maybe you're immature at some other things, or maybe they're just young and they'll be mature when it'll be needed of them, what is mature anyway, is it being serious, responsible or something else? Who sets this standards, you?

I think its the same with most teenages. I know this is a generalisation..but hay. A majority, small or large..depending on the social setting do go out and get hammered/smashes...whatever every weekend. Some of them do very well in school and get the best jobs though. Soem of them, also aren't messers or such in school, so they may not be conseidered 'immature'. Drinking and partying is just paart of the culture in so many countries. :\

I live in a country were party and drinking is like a religion, but I never been drunk or ever taste a beer. The same with cigarettes or drugs.

So,is depend of you, what you want to do and when you what to do

Ditto.

Crystal what you are talking about seems more like responsible behaviour rather than maturity. After all isn't maturity transformation from a kid to an adult, generally speaking. And I've seen many "childish" adults.

No.

That is just it... You can't set ages for maturity. I made that point from the very beginning.

It's not fair to anyone.

And maybe they are fresh in the mind, my friends. I can't blame them for it...but If I don't enjoy thier company anymore..should I keep to them? No.

Maturity goes hand in hang with being responsible.

You can't set ages for maturity.

I think thats the point to be taken from this thread.

Age, says how old someone is (duh!) but its the experiences on earth that you learn from, not the length of time you've been here.

Well if getting drunk (example) is immature (if you take it that responsibility as maturity) then I know of many immature older people...

Exactly.

I see someone understood the thread.

That is too bad.

And that is what I am trying to explain...no age is ever difinite. Some adults are mature enough to make good decisions..and others blow standards way outta proportion.

And that is the point I am taking too, people are immature at some things and mature at others, you think by just one measurement (the all night partying) that you are more mature than others your age, but I am absolutely positive that you are more immature at some things more than your collegaues...

Maturity goes hand in hang with being responsible.

Well here in my country, a male in his mid 20 who plays video games passionately would be considered immature.Regardelss if he earns his own living, doesn't do binge drinking, doesn't have a criminal record, etc.

Whilst a same time person of the same age who beats his wife and kids, and is an alcoholic, would be considered a failure albeit a mature one.

No matter how long anyone discusses this topic, no conclusion will be reached. It is after all people taking about people. People have different views on other people, from the experiences they've had. Thats what this thread is all about really. Age is merely a measure at which to measure people. And an excuse for large companies to make money on Birthdays.

Thank you for being so quick to judge. I did not know you were a God that can see my inside out.

*bows* seriously..don't make comments like that.

You, sir, have now idea who I am.

See? Everything in here points to standards that people have in thier minds about which age/digit should be doing what. You already knew what number to choose. I am almost positive you did not just ask another person..what age would be immature to be playing video games (20) <<not important.. But It's just there.

I would never condiser a man who beats his wife and child mature..not at all. I could call them idiots, or ignorants. But never mature!

I don't but I do know some people around me who think they are more mature than others, even I do sometimes, but I know from their cases and my case that there are things I am immature about...

I really don't know you but if you're human, then I am right because that's the way our race is...

Well...I am glad to see you place every individual into a giant conglomerate of your own personally insights.

Please take me out of there..and everyone else too. Expcept for yourself. It is plain wrong to group people up as bieng immature if you do now know me.

And also, don't judge me from what you see in cp... I have my days.
