I didn't say you are immature, I just said that you have some immature parts, we all do, be it a teddy bear collection, video game obsession, binge drinking etc.

I meant no offense ;)

See? Everything in here points to standards that people have in thier minds about which age/digit should be doing what. You already knew what number to choose. I am almost positive you did not just ask another person..what age would be immature to be playing video games (20) <<not important.. But It's just there.

I would never condiser a man who beats his wife and child mature..not at all. I could call them idiots, or ignorants. But never mature!

The reply was about your statement that maturity and responsibility go hand in hand.

Being inmature is not that bad,the problem start when you make bad things.

I play videogames and I do not have a criminal record,I am mature and inmature at the same time.

I have a job,but I like to hang out with my friends till the sun arrive, still I am both mature and inmature.

I think most (not all!) people are like that Alfredo!

it's having good balance over doing things that will move you forward in life..

though its kinda sad..because once you go forward..it's like being close to a cliff...

the only place to go is off of it (death) what a sad thing. :S

Well in my case I different from other people, even if I have a lot of things in common.

Since I was a kid a knew that I was not normal

One of the rules I have is : do not do something if it does not have a reversal.

Sometimes you can't do that, but I always try to do things I could fix

I dont see why this makes you ache so much, apart from being around the company of people your age who can tend to drive you mental (But even then, get over it) its just a thing that you should be quietly proud of, its a positive, but I think age in this mode of society should be put into different brackets and assumptions.

Should the legal age for having sex drop? Should 11 year olds be given the right to fuck and marry their 50 year old stepfather? Should an advanced 10 year old be allowed to drink alcahol? Should a 13 year old who is 6 feet tall be allowed to drive?

If you mean the social assumptions, not legal, then well, it doesnt matter a whole lot. Its not a point that has to be adressed, because lets face it, most assumptions are correct. You may be one of the very few 18 year olds that have this type of wisdom, would you prefer if society was open minded to see everyone your age as being just as mature, when its not actually true?

Its kind of a whiney post modern issue that doesnt need to be adressed because it just isnt relevant, its a very oddball situation that rarely occurs.

0.00001% of kids have this kind of advanced mind, so it's natural to expect society to assume things about different age brackets.

Again, I dont necessarily see what the problem is. Are people judging you on your actions? You havent got married, you havent given birth, I cant really see what your problem is at this point.

Do you just want people to praise and acknowledge how advanced you are compared to the average 18 year old? Yeah, I really dont get it.

I understand the point you are making for this topic, people are judged by their ages, naturally and understandably (Why shouldnt they when the vast majority of assumptions on this issue are correct? Case point being you talking about how all of your other 18 year old friends are as mature as society expects them to be) but if you are saying there needs to be a change or something, I dont understand.

The purpose of my creation of this thread..was to discuss not only this topic, but what was on my mind... I always wonder why you step place into my threads, since you seem too little to care for the things on my mind.

Absolutely not...I won't even comment on this rediculously bloated thread filled with general and outrageous thoughts.

To reverse this situation would not be a good decision. I only wish that people wouldn't make hearty assumptions to an individual they have no knowledge of. If an 18 year old is observed to BE immature..then you have every right to make your own ideas..but make them INTELLIGENT ....Same goes for a mature 18 year old. Only by observation...otherwise...I wish (and these are fruitless wishes) to not be mentally categorized.

Again, this statement was a repitition of the first made by you.. won't be answered...much too frivolous.

Let's not pull statistics out of our asses, Reilly. I dislike assumptions.

Again, I dont necessarily see what the problem is. Are people judging you on your actions? You havent got married, you havent given birth, I cant really see what your problem is at this point.

Indeed..that is why this topic is near and dear to my heart. it's pre-marital judgments on a couple deemed by you >>> "0.00001%"

Do you just want people to praise and acknowledge how advanced you are compared to the average 18 year old? Yeah, I really dont get it.

No. Take what you will from it, Reilly...nowhere did I request praise or pats on the back.

Now that I am back..this one has gained it's commentary. Excuse the format my comments have... it was easiest this way.

But I think people should not be too quick to judge based on age.... because like I have written earlier' date=' sometimes, certain ages surpass the mental standards society has placed on certain ages.[/quote']

Ahh, this is the paragraph I am looking for.

So, basically, people should not pigeon hole every single person by their age, because one in every 38 million of them may be different.

OK.

this! is what I was looking for.

I will be back with my opinion of this intelligent post...

But I must shower first....

Haha I'm surprised I responded after the arrogant first line of your thread

All the people wants to compare with other people, and that's is the problem.

We should look and focus in our problems, instead to look other people, but I guess this is inevitable

Well if its about judging people, I think we still reserve the right to discuss such things.

When we hear a news item about a 30 year old teacher sleeping with her 14 year old student, should we instantly be like "Oh, well maybe this kid is actually really mature, and maybe he knew what he was doing when he stuck his dong in this hoe". If Michael Jackson was proven guilty for molestation, should we assume McCauley Culkin was an incredibly mature homosexual male, stuck in a little boys body?

No, lets just assumed they were fucked up and confused because of their age. Its natural.

All the people wants to compare with other people, and that's is the problem.

We should look and focus in our problems, instead to look other people, but I guess this is inevitable

But how would you feed your ego then?:D

You need to realize that there are more important things than your ego!

Ups,I am talking like a mature person!

But it's a normal thing, you compare yourself to others everyday on dozens of different occasions.

Yeah that is right, but the more that you look the more that you seek and the less you enjoy.

Do I have it all, just because I do not want anything more?

Not necessarily, on some occasions you may come to a conclusion that you are for example, more mature than others.:D

Anyway before I go to sleep let me just paraphrase one famous philosopher:" I know that I know nothing".

Okay to that too. It didn't make sense

I have expressed how I feel about this before.

But I have learned to accept the fact that I will be judged by my age and I live with it. To those who get to know me they will realise that I am probably a lot more mature than they may think.

And I'll also add that I agree with the "females are 2 years more mature than males" thing. Really, I think an 18 year old girl isn't going to get much more mature from then on. But males will take a lot longer a lot of the time. Until old age at least.

Okay to that too. It didn't make sense

What I was saying, is that you are basically saying society shouldnt assume everyone by their age, even if society has the right to do so 99.99% of the time, they must always be hesitant to judge situations by someones age.

And if we hear of a 12 year old getting married to a 50 year old, we shouldnt assume shes fucked up or confused, we should investigate to see how high her maturity levels are.

That, is what you are saying.

Well...I hope so much this is not a useless comment now...

however...

I read the first post....hope this is enough....I didn't read the whole thread..

I think I know what your intention is...

A while ago I thought the same.....that I'm totally different...more mature than the others...than my friends for example...or my class mates....

but I changed my opinion...I think deep in ourselves we are all the same...

we all have kind of the same problems....

of course there are people who have a better general knowledge....and of course there are different views of life...

But I think the basis is the same....

I think the view and the problems by people of the same age are actually quite similar...

I'd agree there.

In fact, I'd say that if 18 year olds and 30 year olds looked the same and went to the same high school, they'd end up being just as good of friends as people their own age.

oo, i agree.

i'm 15, and I should be stupid fuck. i don't think i am... honestly... heh.

and my friends bore me also. i always talk about things they don't care about. meh.

but i haven't really gone through anything that made me lose my childhood innocense (wow, i can't spell today)... i'm just different from everyone else my age, and i always have been, heh.

actually when i was 12, i think that's when i really started maturing... i don't know.

anyways, enough rambling for me... heh.

nice to read your post

i'm 15 too and i always felt a little more mature than other people of my age that i know (that sounds stuck-up, i know).

it's probably because i've already experienced some great shit i don't want to talk about.

those moments in my life let me grow emotionally.

again, it sounds weird...lol

i just hate the fact that i'm sometimes talking about the most important crap in my life and my friends don't listen. that's just bullshit and that's exactly what i hate (yeah, absolutely hate) about them. and that's another point. they're too dumb to listen. lol

they just wanna have and all that and don't even think for a second.

my sister is 22 now and my mum often tells me that i seems to be older than her

thanks.

it's just that i care about a lot of things.

people of my age are usually fun-loving and willing to experience everything that is new to them.

they don't waste a second on thinking about their future.

they have a bad style (he he) and they all look alike (ever recognised this? all teenagers look the same)
