COLDPLAY could score their first No1 song — with an ode to lanky England star PETER CROUCH.

CHRIS MARTIN revealed his footie song on stage at the Isle Of Wight Festival on Sunday.

And he reckons his band will be guaranteed top spot in the charts if we go on to win the World Cup.

The singer told the crowd: “I’ve got a secret to share with you. If England do well in the World Cup, we’re going to release a single called Do The Crouch.

“So if England win the Cup, we’re going to get our first No1.”

He then sang the first few lines of his as-yet-unfinished soccer track to cheers from the audience.

Crouch will be thrilled. First his pop idol CHESNEY HAWKES tells me that he’ll perform the player’s favourite tune, The One And Only, for him.

And now one of the world’s top bands have adopted him as their muse.

Frontman Chris even launched into his own version of the famous Crouch robotic dance while singing In My Place.

I’ve put together a mock-up of the singer boogying in full kit just like Crouch — whose funky moves were inspired by ARCTIC MONKEYS hit I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor.

Chris also worked his footie tribute lyrics into the choruses of Don’t Panic and Talk as wife GWYNETH PALTROW watched from the wings.

Rock legend LOU REED was honoured too, with the lads performing his classic Perfect Day as the crowd sang along.

The storming set, which also included Square One and Politik, marked the festival finale.

Launching the band’s set, Chris said: “We’re Coldplay and we’ll try and make you enjoy the end of the festival as much as the rest of it.”

As the band played their first hit, Yellow, huge golden balloons floated into the sky while Chris serenaded himself on the giant on-stage video screen.

Then he launched into an adapted version of Speed Of Sound, with a reference to Virgin Radio presenter and Coldplay fan BEN JONES.

Introducing God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, Chris joked:

“This is probably the longest and most boring intro you’ve heard all weekend.”

But the crowd couldn’t get enough of the group, screaming for an encore which included Swallowed In The Sea and Fix You.

Now all they need is a World Cup victory.

Come on, England . . . I want to hear the full Crouch song.

I love the fact that Chris did the robot dance and Gwyneth did the same while standing in the audience :D

Here's the video of it posted on youtube:

(Sorry if this has been posted before, but I haven't seen it anywhere)
