Books that we love so much...

Featured Replies

This one should be easy...talking about the books (you like; last read; have heard of it; you hate)...

For starters-I'll mention "Peyton Place"...anyone read?

I think it's great...

no, I haven't. What's it about?

I'm currently reading a book called "the google's story". It may not seem interesting at all... but in fact, I like it pretty much!!! Also I'm reading a book called Marina and it's nice, but I'll finish it tomorrow or so.

One of my fav books is "The shadows of the wind" (its writer is the same than the Marina one). It's just perfect! I hope that someone has read it.

Another book that created a before and after of all the books that I had read in that moment was "La fletxa d'or" --> "The golden arrow". It's about love mixed with the importance of the languages and science fiction. I highly recommend it. ;)

No... In my case:

Steppenwolf of Hermann Hesse

Crime and Punishement of Dosievski

The Demon haunted the world of Carl Sagan...

Well,it's a bit long...in short-it revolves around the citizens of Peyton place...

I didn't read any of those...'cept Crime and Punishment. That one's one hell of a book! Loved it!

Wow...I'll try to find those that you Oenona mentioned...

Did anyone hear about Terry Pratchett (english people could've)?

And, what's your fav genre?

No... In my case:

Steppenwolf of Hermann Hesse

Crime and Punishement of Dosievski

The Demon haunted the world of Carl Sagan...

Yeah....Steppenwolf...I'm currently reading it for the second time......good book!

Yeah....Steppenwolf...I'm currently reading it for the second time......good book!

And very, very dark...

:) There's a lot of reasons to live thought...

anyway, if you like it or not depends on what your favs genre are and what you value in a book. For example, I read The Da Vinci Code and I have to recognize I was hooked on it but I can't say it's one of the best ones. Its descriptions aren't too good... it reminds me somehow like an Indiana Jones story!

I haven't heard anything of him! :(

My fav genre is perhaps science fiction, love stories, thrillers... Despite of that, what really matters is that the book has a good plot and story written behind the lines.

Yeah, ITA with you...but for example I know that I hate love stories...but dramas, humour, thrillers...esp.fantasy (that's Pratchett)...

Like you with DaVinci Code, Harry Potter is so comercialised (is that how it's written?) that I don't consider it as a book. Though I'm hooked on it.

I like The Picture of Dorian Gray...

There's also Tomislav Zajec (Croatian author) with "Ljudožderi" - meaning Man Eaters...it's absolutely great. It's written very well. Doubt it's been translated on any other language.

Exactly! They have such a good story for making an exciting adventure film but not a great book. And you're right, they're too commercialized (<--I think it's written like this)! I remember me, though, reading at least 2 hours for a day TDVC whether I had other things for doing or not! haha, it was ridiculous, !

i like dan brown (angels and demons,da vinci code, deception point) and amin maalouf (leo the african, ports of call)

I know the feeling...you just can't stop...

And yes, it is (I think so)...anyhoo-those books are like screenplays for the movies. Inventive enough to watch on the big screen :)

yep, indeed, that's the feeling!!! (well, only if they had an interesting story)

Exactly! They're great for looking at astonishing landscapes and films with loads of action... but that's all. :)
